For split controls, you either can learn the old one, or the new controls. You can’t get good at both because of the difference between how you aim on each one. Getting good at one, will make you worse at the other one. If anyone plans to learn the new controls, I suggest you stick with the new controls and don’t go back to the old ones, unless your non split.

We definitely need full customization for these controls - The good news is that on the Reddit thread for the original beta release of the new controls, Mojang devs mentioned multiple times that they were looking into more customizability. However, I am a little worried that its been more then half a year and we really haven't heard much more about it since.

As someone who's played mostly on mobile for 7 or 8 years, I feel a hybrid of the new and old would work well. I'm very attached to the old arrow buttons with jump in the middle and don't care for the new joystick like way of movement, but the new buttons for attacking and interacting are much better.

I think the new joystick is good but that’s it. I feel like it should allow complete customization; if you like the new controls but you want the d pad you can have the d pad. I would prefer to have the joystick and then the jump button on the side and to crouch you just hold down on the jump button.

As an ex mobile playing I’m don’t think I’ll ever stop defending the classic mobile controls even if it’s just from bias, I mean I loved them and they got the job done pretty damn well, also you can’t definitely bridge quickly (it takes a lot of risk but still possible).

actually, the problem is split control. see the arrow in the middle of the screen? it was mean the split control setting is turned on (in touch settings) and the split control can beused too for old controls. and the split control MUST used in the new controls

if minecraft soon adds customization, It might be very good but for now, I like the old controls better . Aiming on the new controls seems a bit tougher for me since if you use one hand to aim and tap attack at the same time, your finger cant reach too far to keep attacking at the same time so its kinda hard to fight someone who jump all around you or keeps strafing ( on Ipad ) I also hope minecraft adds an option to use the new action buttons and to enable old dpad since I like it very much

I know this video is a year old but I really don't like the new controls. With the new one you need to drag your screen and then tap on the attack button which takes more effort than the old one where you just tap the screen. And the walking controls makes me confused 'cause i'm used to the old ones, I used to tap instead to drag. Tapping is more simpler than dragging and more buttons.

For me what's annoying is you can't swipe and hit or interact at the same time. For example you have to swipe/aim and then interact. If you try to aim and interact at the same time, it will cancel your aim and just interact. Q: Why is it annoying? A: Your movement is limited to fight in PVP or Skyblocks. Not just that. It's really annoying when there's multiple mob chasing you from 2 dirrection. I just hope they change aiming and interacting could be done for the same time Edit: i use split screen, that's why it's annoying. I don't use free tap, because im not used to it

The customization i want for the new controls is that the "Hit/Attack" Button is Draggable so your not stuck with crabbing but if you hold the Hit button it auto start hits then if you drag then the aim moves with it

A really good tip I use with the mobile controls is to not pvp in a way similar to the old PVP gui. The new mcpe pvp buttons make it possible to aim while attacking, which greatly improves accuracy instead of flicking your aim to the enemy every 4 seconds.

For a Minecraft player like myself I have played Minecraft mobile for years now the only two problems I didn't like like this is where you have to hold to mine blocks and drag and touch the screen to look around but the strangest thing was despite growing up without gaming consoles like PS4, Xbox 360 or switch for the longest time ever but when I go to stay at a friend's house and play Minecraft on console I played a lot better than mobile [Skipping to the present day] now I solved my problem by buying a wireless controller and I have played Minecraft mobile like that ever since and it made playing Minecraft fun and enjoyable

The new joystick pad and the sprint and jump buttons are super cool additions. The only thing I'm a bit unsure about is the "attack" and "interact" buttons. I prefer if split-controls are off and, not sure if they're only accessible if split-controls are on, but it seems to be a bit of a hassle, to have separate buttons for attack and interact instead of just being tapping anywhere on the screen.

I have played on mobile the entire time I played minecraft, and I got really used the to main one where you click, but then they added more new controls, and even changed the old ones, and for some reason it won't let me change them back to the old ones or adjust them to the place I want them to be. In which, I never had the time to play minecraft because I can't even play the game anymore, knowing that minecraft won't let me change it back (And yes, I know, I am not blind, I used the settings to change them, but for some reason it doesn't work for me)

As a movile minecrafter, I can definitely say that the new controls are a great improvement, especially the fact that there's a seperate button for sprinting (tapping twice on the forward button is rlly annoying for me). If you don't like the new controls, you can even switch back to the old one, or just use an amalgamation of both the new and old controls.

For example, I want to have old controls with more buttons, thats it. Specifically for sneak, jump, put block (change to split control to put block while still being able to use non split control on attacking mode), entities interaction (riding a boat, fishing etc, + add using fireworks for elytra, they should do this!) while still having the old controls. Of course, we should also have options to get new controls with customization but thats just my opinion as a long (non pvp-ish, been a long time I havent go to server because of pc+mobile integration) time player.

I really want the customization and I wish they'd think outside the box. It feels like they're trying to make it so you have the same controls as other devices just with different activation. That's not going to work. Working with touch is an entirely distinct experience. You don't have multiple buttons, you have one button with a multitude of ways to activate it and they need to work with that. One of the biggest issues I work with the whole place/interact vs hit. I'd really like to stop hitting villagers on accident, but giving it seperate buttons makes it harder in my experience as it's easier to be able to activate while aiming if activation can be done from the same spot you're aiming. A potential solution to this for me would be utilizing the left hand. Perhaps holding down one the left hand whilst working registers it as different. We can make use of the left index finger. (Rn, it's really just the thumbs and the right index finger unless youre like, real skilled). Idk, I don't think more buttons is a true solution. A phone isn't a controller or keyboard.

I would've chosen the D-pad, if they hadn't changed it. Although after trying, the new controls are a LOT more better than the old D-pad and new D-pad, it's only up after you customise them too. Now I get that the customise option is experimental, but it's very annoying as under heavy lag situations which happens on one specific spring map on Cubecraft, the controls just reset. They also reset when you use the floating windows feature on your phone. I don't have a problem as it is experimental, but when they're implemented, I'd still not care that much. It's just a tiny bit frustrating as I have to customise them again.

The problem is that I am so used to the regular controls and I grew up whit left hand control (because it was the standard when it came out) And now I’m stuck whit right hand controls because there are no whey to switch. So for me and my sister the game is ruined 😡

The dpad controls just suck now, I used to be able to jump sprint and look around, now I just look up and down whenever I try to jump run. The new controls just suck, no customisablility at all, buttons are stuck at a certain size

Technically its not the original controls playing on pocket edition v0.10.4 alpha rn and the classic controls came pretty far from the OG controls im curious about the newer controls perhaps ill get pocket edition on one of my newer phones and check em out

I decided to not switch my controls because I was so used to them and the other ones just didn’t fit right, they could change it a little but I’m still good and maybe even better than I was before, and I haven’t played the new controller in like 5 months

I actually prefer the classic touch controls, been playing PE since 2014 and if you play as long as i have you kind of figure out there quirks and how to work around them, these new controls are not friendly to minecraft pe at all especially to players like me who's used the old controls for so many years. I hope minecraft adds a option for classic controls

i have been playing minecraft pocket edition for about 2 years and i have gotten used to it and the new controls have separated the activities so that makes it harder to run while fighting
