This is an area where not everyone fits into the same box. I actually feel better on 5-6hrs of sleep then I do when I get 7-9hrs. More sleep makes me feel groggy and drag. Now occasionally a few times a month, I'll have a random day where I feel exhausted. So I'll purposely take long naps on those days. But in general, I'm able to recover well, have full libido, and train hard on only 5-6hrs sleep consistently. It's honestly been this way for me for decades. 😂

Half hour to one hour naps help me so much but I also sleep 6.5-8 hours at night. My stress is definitely lower and focus better half a half hour nap, especially post lift or if I had to get up a lot to pee at night.

The one thing I try to keep remembering about sleep is when you sleep long enough your body goes into the R.E.M. sleep, that is when your body is repairing itself so if you’re not getting long enough sleep at nite and you’re allowing your muscles and your body to recover optimally from your workouts. Naps are good as long as it doesn’t impede into your night sleep. Just my opinion.

Everyone here saying they don’t need 8 hours of sleep. This woman says she’s getting up at 3am (out of habit), working out 2.5 hrs, and is “super hungry, super tired” after the gym. Clearly something is off. I’m surprised they didn’t get more harsh with her as Sal usually does 😂

I sleep for six and nap for 20. I been doing it for over 10 years and I train boxing + strength training for four hours, six days a week.

@@WYNNBETS ya i can agree with that..i just know adults that are fully grown only need 4-6 hours not 8-10 because 8-10 is one of leading causes of heat disease …what people dont see is most Americans sleep 8-10 and eat like shit ..the ones that eat healthy sleep 5-7 so idk if they say 8 there falling into the trap of what the cdc wants which we all know cant be trusted

@@UR_AL_SHOOK_UP I concur! Too much sleep could have adverse reactions. When I sleep 7-8 I feel sick and even more tired. Too much to do! I never trusted the pyramid they bestowed upon us also! Bottom heavy with carbs, carbs that they produce and manufacture in their factories. When I was a kid, I used to look at that pyramid and wonder why we had to consume so much carbs when carbs made you overweight? I can sleep when I’m dead lol.

@@WYNNBETS exactly see we’re living proof. I think most people hear you need 8 hours of sleep so they get scared there not sleeping enough so they sleep for 6 and lay there for 2 hours so there in bed 8 but really sleep 6. I know theres alot of people like us 👍

How about day sleepers and naps? I work midnights (varied levels of high stress), train 5x/wk and working with a coach to do my first bikini comp May 2024. Idk when I’ll be back on days, forever exhausted, average 6-6.5hrs/day of broken sleep…would love to chat about the chaos 😂

I was on a job tonight and what helped me was putting aluminum foil over my windows and they would make my room totally dark and I would do a brisk walk about an hour or two before I went to bed after a shower. I couldn’t do my gym workout Before I went to bed because my body wouldn’t relax good enough for me to fall asleep on time. Good luck to ya.

Actually, sleeping any amount of hours in a row during the night is only one of several different healthy sleep patterns. Just saying...

2 1/2hrs at 53 is ridiculous, especially being new to exercise. She needs to educate herself on exercise and recovery. She clearly doesn't listen to their podcast or information enough..

Why is 2 1/2 too much at 53? I'm just curious to hear your assessment on this as I really don't see how age makes a difference. I'm 40 and do 3 hours 6 days a week. My response and recovery is better than when I was in my 20s. If she enjoys it and isn't injuring herself I don't feel like 2 hours is too much....for any age. Lol.

@@jessicataylor1930 do the research and see 3hrs a day 6 days a week is not conducive to making actual real productive muscle gains for regular everyday people. Unless your a top tier athlete training sport specific it's kind of detrimental and useless. My gf who has a psychology degree a PT/ nutritionist & online coach that's certified in post metapausal training to tell you how it's not really something that's smart. I've never worked out more then 2 1/2hrs a day in my entire 12yrs of training and that's really excessive. If you need to train 3hrs a day your not training hard enough clearly but your allowed to do as you please it's just not actually proper. If you train a muscle group proper and effectively it should take you no where near that time. But that's my opinion.
@H4mmis
@H4mmis 11 ай бұрын
@@jessicataylor1930 also you think your response to recovery is better but if you actually seeked a professionals analysis it would be much different I'm sure in all reality. Buuut if you enjoy it do as you please honestly, not my place to dictate what you do. You would have better recovery and make better muscle gains if you trained harder and more effectively with less rest periods in a more tighter time frame for true real muscle growth. But I'm just a guy on the internet in a comment section. Lol

@H4mmis so what you're saying is that you have no idea what my programming looks like or what it includes as far as time spent on mobility, steady state cardio etc but it's not conducive because it takes 3 hours? Maybe your programming has just never been thorough enough and you're not making productive muscle gains to the capacity that you potentially could. 🤷🏼‍♀️ also, this woman literally said she has a group of friends at the gym and she enjoys this activity in her life. Since you're just a guy in a comment section I don't think you should be discouraging people from doing healthy activities that add value to their quality of life. Hopefully your gf with the psychology degree would agree or whatever school she went to did her an injustice.

@@jessicataylor1930 my program has stretching at the beginning and recovery at the end. I also progressively overload and train for strength and endurance occassionally depending on my personal goals at the time. My muscle gains are pretty solid and I would bet much above what you think ( I'm 230lbs 6ft and about 16-17%% body fat). I'm benching 315x reps, deadlifting 500lbs x reps and squatting 405lbs+ for reps. I have an extensive amount of knowledge on lifting beyond what you could understand and continue to learn and research. She said she had friends at the gym but if you listened she said she trained "3hrs" not 2 hrs and talked an hour or she would of said that. I listened to her. Like I said if you actually understood programming and took proper rest periods you wouldn't have been in the gym 2 1/2 hrs. You clearly sound like you don't have proper programming yourself just by how you're speaking but keep doing your thing If you enjoy it and it keeps you in the gym and fit. I've been doing this 11+ yrs and i still continue to make progress with my strength when it's programmed into my lifting. Have a nice day. lol
