This practice is the same thing that Facebook is doing with their open implementation of AI profiles on their platforms. People are saying "Oh, nobody wants this! Who wants to interact with AI profiles on Instagram?" That's the point. The whole reason they are rolling out these accounts is to see at what points real people stop engaging, or begin engaging negatively, so that they can shape their greed models going forward. This survey is the exact same. The whole point was to see "ok, we put out 10 terrible ideas... Do any of them kind of go under the radar? Oh, people didn't seem to hate option 8 as much as the other 9? We got em. Option 8 is how we will squeeze them going forward"

I just can't wrap my head around how a lot of people are ok with ads potentially coming into f2p, not only it's gonna make an already miserable experience that's f2p more miserable but once ads are in game there's no going back it can only expand to members worlds. I have a lot of empathy for f2p players because not everyone can afford membership right away, also I started as a f2p player 8+ years ago and became a member ever since and there's a good chance I wouldn't have stuck around if there were ads around at the time.
@MTXY912 сағат бұрын
They don't target f2p, its too low of a REAL player count. Maybe they, at most, want to farm fake impressions from bots on those ads. They are targeting a large group of players who are not paying for members, but are buying bonds for membership. They said UNPAID membership, not membership. Also, expect to get the usual 30min or 1 hour rotation of "Watch this 30 seconds ad for 50k coins".
@hellointernet13073 сағат бұрын
this was a bunch of nothing, they've now shown us they can in fact give us all of these things we want so we should be getting them at no additional costs now. Thats what we as players should expect. Not let them give this statement then pretend nothing happened.

Also we can expect ads now btw, "We will not include in-game advertisements in any REGULAR paid membership." but when discussing afk timer: "we will not be reducing AFK timers for any paid membership." Also implies f2p will be getting reduced afk.
@Linderus3 сағат бұрын
Gnome, what concerns me most is a second point in ads part. "We will not include in-game advertisements in any regular paid membership" this wording leaves A LOT of opportunities to push ads past F2P worlds, the most concerning example is bonded accounts.
@GnomonkeyRS3 сағат бұрын
Exactly. This was crafted in a way to leave enough SQUIRM room for them if they go back to any of these topics
@kjax1393 сағат бұрын
Bonds aren’t free though. You are paying for a bond either in game currency or irl. So f2p means freeeee. I don’t know why this game needs ads at all but greed be greed and if they somehow justify it in their own minds the it’s f2p that gets it. A membership account is a membership account no matter how you got it
@anthonylarson61982 сағат бұрын
@@kjax139it depends on if they consider bonds a "regular" paid membership. It gives them wiggle room so down the line they can say certain memberships aren't "regular" paid memberships. I understand some people are cancelling memberships, im still locked in at 5.95/mo so i dont want to pay more to resubscribe, but this update is so upsetting for the direction of the game. I worry that if the player count remains high and people think "oh theres no way that jagex would actually go through with that" and continue to play as usual, that the higher ups at jagex would only see like a 5% drop in subscriptions and deem it being a vocal minority and actually go through with it, exactly how it went down with EoC. Everybody that couldnt believe eoc was in beta and laughed at it didnt even log in to th3 beta cause they thought it was a joke. I've already kicked both launchers from my desktop. They've ignored sub communities within osrs for years & now they are broadening their negligence to the wider community. What an embarrassment, they lack creativity in their updates, gas light the community & manipulate polls constantly.. osrs isn't truly created by the players especially when they ignore large segments of their player base ALL OF THE TIME!

It’s like 20% apology and 80% saying they’re still going to do this again in future proposals. There shouldn’t be any proposals. That is the point. Get it through your head Jagex. These are dead ideas. The proposal should be give me better customer support and I still pay you.

Imagine doing this kind of nonsense to RS3 for 12 years, destroying it and thinking that alone isn't enough of a survey

1. What is "core game experience"? Saying that they won't make anything there P2W without defining what that is gives too much wiggle room. 2. Player Support. It's crazy how every time this comes up they always have something in progress yet we haven't seen anything in years. 3. They still haven't said that they aren't doing any of these things. There's still no actionable plan or definitive line of what is or is not happening. My sub is still cancelled. It expires in a few months. I will not be renewing if this is the best response they have.

Rigorous and range are in the same sentence, which seems intentional... seems like they wanna manipulate.

Sadly, we will have to quit again. I am one of the first ones to take this opportunity. They basically have a whole plan for this process.

No one talking about the "Mobile-only access" ?? That shit is fucking wild they would even consider restricting it to that. Jagex is still not taking accountability for fucking up. They keep apologizing and are essentially gaslighting us into believing their bullshit. The idea behind it was simple they want to extract more money from us and when it backfired they just say "sorry, we hope you forgive us". Hopefully people are smart enough to not just forget this and let it go. They need to FIRMLY admit that it was just straightup wrong to ask this bullshit. They keep hiding behind the farce that they didn't know it would turn out like this.
@deeznuttes93403 сағат бұрын
oh people are talking about it too.
@stephenm7073 сағат бұрын
Mobile only is probably the only thing on there that isn’t ridiculous. Theres a bunch of people that only play mobile out of choice not because of some self restricted account but because they just play very casually. Theres probably also a bunch of very casual players that dont use any plugins, the first year or two I played I preferred the java client over osbuddy. Its basically a discount for people who already play with those “restrictions.” The team that put together this pitch are idiots for calling it restricted memebership instead of just calling it a discount for casual players. Its crazy how who ever signed off on this whole thing didnt think that the “choices” they put out werent ridiculously confusing on top of being a slap in the face with the whole +30$ a month for basic account security.

no ones talking about it because its the most sane one there. a mobile only or PC only option for those that play on one that is cheaper isn't a bad idea like the others proposed
@kjax1393 сағат бұрын
There are many mobile only players so I get listing that as an option for those people. It’s not forcing everyone to do mobile only…..

This is like if jagex was a person in a relationship and to "help strengthen and grow the relationship" asked, "What if I just straight out cheated on you. And anything I already gave you, you'll need to give me something in return for. BUT in return, I will also listen and care more for you than before." Then wonder why the person left them after just asking those raw and unfiltered questions. "Come on, it was to strengthen the relationship, I was in strengthening mindset. Searching and prodding those tough questions."

Hey GM, been watching you on and off for a year now and I just wanted to say I really do enjoy these rant videos on the game. Guides are nice but being able to hear you voice genuine opinions rather than light hearted banter is really entertaining. Keep it up, I hope your voice is heard when it comes to this greedy situation from Jagex.

They really underestimate us if this is the best they can come up with in response to our outrage. I don't have faith in them at all right now, and I would rather quit the game I love than fall victim to their predatory schemes.

Man I think jagex should "apologize" by: 1. Giving all existing members 3 free months 2. Giving all new coming members 80% off for the first 3 months 3. Giving all of us a a 25m stack in the bank (lol jk) But the first 2 yea And as well as saying full out - "ok yea we fked up this is on us we were greedy and tried to slum more money out of you with Giving zero tangible value back to the player

also lets remember it's not one bad pvp update that will kill this game. it's this kinda shit. stay focused. push back real hard.

If i ever see an ad while playing runescape I will quit then and there. Jagex has forgotten the blessing they have that is OSRS
@OldG-t3u2 сағат бұрын
Introduce large shock value disagreeable options at the beginning, followed by an apology, and then partial implementation of the original proposal. Seen it in multiple other video games. If this isn't met with 100% rejection from every player, portions of this will still end up in your game. Seriously, do not take this sort of thing lightly, do not take this laying down.
@ethannieves82012 сағат бұрын
We need people to continue with the follow-through to say that the "Lesser changes" aren't okay either. Jagex is not holding up their end of their current Membership deal already - They can't get away with changing the price again.

The people that just bought this company I don’t think they realize nearly most of the people that played the game quit when eoc came out. I got no problem quitting again for years if I ever play again. And that’s kind of alarming how the dude said that people are OK with this. How the fuck are you OK with paying for a membership and then having ads like what the fuck are you dumb? Paying for account security and support?? Like wtf..

Jagex is somehow unaware we all grew up playing this game and know what a scam is, they're not armour trimming me with this weak ass "apology".

Honestly, this was all just a seed for an imminent future and i think a lot of people were waiting for something like this to finally break free from this time suck. Streamers and content creators need the people to be hooked in order to pay the bills. Wake up brothers and sisters.

Simply put i think we all need to band together and ask for an apology from the CVC. Its not fair to throw jagex and its mods under the bus for their decisions and especially mod pip. Getting that appology would show the cvc that the players run this game not jagex and they need to be reminded!!

to be fair they pull this stunt every year and the game is still more popular and better than its ever been before; people will forget about this outrage like they forgot about the price hike last year and the RS3 battle pass before that etc
