Ok, wait… the “We only send these to high risk places.” probe did NOT have maximum armor and shields? But the “We only send these to high risk places where we’ve already lost one probe.” probe does? Also, when your ship of explorers gets a galaxy-wide message NOT to do something, why is everybody’s first thought, “Huh. That’s a weird order. We should go do that one thing they told us not to do. Instead of contacting the galaxy-wide government to ask why they told us not to do it. Probably wouldn’t help us make sense of the order, anyway.”

Really wanted the shuttle to be destroyed in payment for the arrogance of the captain. Hopefully the Council will deal the blatant disregard of no approach order harshly given that captain had zero interest in Earth until told to stay away.
