Thank you for this. I live in Australia in a cool temperate part of the country. But we get some very hot temps in summer too. My lawn was originally 100% fescue, but I overseeded it 50/50 fescue and KBG last spring. It struggled through summer this year, but I’m hoping to get better performance now that it’s had more time to establish. I’m currently at about 65mm (roughly 2 1/2”) for winter, down from 3.5. I’ve been considering leaving it at that height this summer just to see how it goes.

@DMCnME I would like to go to Bermuda for a portion of my lawn which would probably be my front yard. I have so much shade throughout my lawn that I'm not positive it would perform at its best. With the way the recent years of weather patterns have gone Bermuda is looking way more appealing! If I had full sun I would definitely do some Bermuda. I would choose IronCutter Bermuda if I were to do it.

Cam, first of all your lawn looks amazing as usual. I'm just curious though, it seems like your backyard gets ample amounts of shade. I have plenty doubts that this would be as successful if it was in full sun all day. Not trying to take anything at all away from what you've accomplished cause I'm my mind you truly are a professional, but I just wonder if the same results could be attained in different conditions.
@ElevatedLawnscapes
@ElevatedLawnscapes Ай бұрын
100% valid point. I addressed that in a prior video. I do have a little under half of my back lawn that is full sun (1500k sq ft). The section that is next to the raised garden bed. That area is on its own irrigation zone and I have to do the most monitoring in that area but it is still performing well. Your point is valid that shade cover does help but the full sun area is still performing. Also, my test plot is at 1.5" full sun and performing like a champ.

Thanks! I disagree with the requirements you stated because my lawn doesn't meet either one of those that you described. I have areas that are high and I have areas that are at least 2 inches low or more. Looks great, I usually cut at 4 inches and found 3 inches HOC actually looks better. 1.25 HOC would not work for my lawn due to grading issues. I am planning to nuke my lawn in the next week or so and prepare for a complete renovation during the labor day weekend. May have to pull back if we still have high temperatures here in Baltimore. I will use that time to further recondition the soil and hopefully improve the overall grading. You're a real one at that 1.25 HOC, not for the faint of heart. Stay blessed and keep workin!

🤣 the newer tall fescue cultivars are really nice and versatile. There are other grass types that are better suited for different climates that will take less inputs and have less maintenance to keep them looking like this during the tough period of the year. @ElevatedLawnscapes Ай бұрын
I completely understand. I will be doing one but I can say its not at the top of the content list right now. My brief feedback on the mower is this: - Well built like other Toro Products - Has good cut quality but it is underpowered in my opinion - Love the 30" steel deck, definitely a timesaver over the 22" mowers - Battery life is great for a homeowner. I have cut up to 12k sq ft in one charge on the Max setting, could get more on the variable speed mode. - It is a good mower, not great mower. - If you are not sold on going battery, I would buy the gas version. Its cheaper and has more power. I have heard from people that have the both TimeMasters they say the gas cut quality is better.

I lived at the top of New Jersey for over 50 years with no grass issues & nice Bluegrass. Now I am on Marylands Eastern Shore below Del, not near Ocean City & most of the grass here is TTTF & I had never heard of it & would stay away from it even on Long Island. Here the heat & humidity is worse the any Vietnam experience I ever went thru & lawn care is near impossible to figure out & I have studied it & worked at it for 8 years I have been here. I have watched all the web sites,purchased products & visit with Turf,Farm & Golf Professionals at that supplier,showed them soil test results & asked for advice. I have received an award from the people on my street for lawn & turf achievement & improvement & the lawn to me looks like crap every July & Aug because of the heat,70 plus Dew Points anf fungus issues. I just stay with Rye,Fescue & Blue & last year went to almost all liquid fert.

@pczapp827 The heat plus the humidity is a definite challenge in this area growing cool season grass during the summer. I really wish I had all of my front or all of my backyard that was full sun.
