I was a company driver for 10 years. I decided to go off my own, with the market was hot. I had a spot where I could park my trailer and a renown trucking company, free of charge. Well, their safety manager shows up; and says I can no longer park there. The Company that works for 10 years, allowed me to park in their yard until I found a more permanent home for my trailer. “DON’T BURN BRIDGES!”

I only ever burned one bridge, and it was with a company that forced you to drive over HOS and do interstating. Don't need a company like that. I left doors open with a few good ones though.

Brian’s claim, following the 7:50 mark, of not just dropping one’s friends because of moving on from a particular company, is interesting. Leaving a particular company on good terms is at times easier said than done although among the jobs that for me have ever ended, ended on good terms. With the terminator for cause had for years come with such a stigma, it’s so important to whenever possible leave on good terms with a company even though so many companies are prepared to wrongfully dismiss staff. In other cases, companies are within their rights to terminate staff for cause because such staff committed gross misconduct or otherwise significantly violated company policy.

Been driving since 2007, when I was 19, I had to be an o/o because no one gave me chance on their truck. After I went to be a company driver, hated it. Went back to being an o/o, loved the money hated the bills, currently a company driver looking to be a o/o again. Lol what's wrong with me.
