@@anthonybarefoot6744 my cousin worked at Lowes and I would hear so many horror stories.. she has autism (high functioning so if you weren’t told you wouldn’t know) and she was on lunch talking to her friend / coworker and it came up and her manager overheard and unprovoked started treating her like shit and saying, “I heard you have autism, I hope you understand I’m not going to be any easier on you because of that because no one in the real world cares about your autism…” and her manager would just be mean and cruel to her based on something she overheard two people talking about. And she would say it every week at least once just to be cruel, she would ask my cousin to do something and follow it with, “and you better have it done right and on time and I don’t wanna hear excuses or about your autism” all un promoted as my cousin never complained or brought up her autism or try to use it as an excuse or crutch… she literally just mentioned it one time in casual conversation to a coworker/friend. Finally I told her that she doesn’t have to put up with that kind of abuse and what is essentially being treated poorly due to a disability so I had my lawer contact the store and say that he had heard from a “customer” me.. that overheard this manager verbally abusing a worker about her autism and that is a clear OSHA violation that also violates the Americans With Disabilities Act so you might want to stop doing that as you are literally breaking a law. My cousin never heard that bitch say anything about it again and the horrible woman apologized and luckily my cousin got the hell out of there the second she graduated college and now has a great job in entertainment and got the job based on her senior thesis on the portrayal of autistic people in media as well as their mistreatment in the workplace. So there is some justice and a happy ending

I have run across idiots like this before. I tell them once refused, I will not turn around once I leave. Their items are going back to the shipper. The shipment is now subject to return shipping fees, intercept turn around fees, storage fees, and re delivery charges which are not eligible for discounts of any kind. Fuel surcharges, and residential surcharges will be applied at full rates. These charges will all have to be paid before their freight returns. I am always amazed at how many change their attitude after they are told this.

A few years ago, I ordered a large amount of lumber to build a deck in my backyard. I paid for curbside delivery, which I knew meant at the curb. However, after chatting up the driver for a short while, I asked if he could help me get the load into the garage, which would save me a lot of work. At first, he hesitated, saying that technically he wasn't supposed to do that. However, he agreed to meet me more than halfway. He offered to back into the driveway and get it as close to the garage as he could. I was grateful and thanked him for his extra effort. After he left, I carried the boards one at a time into the garage, which was a lot easier given that it was close to the garage. The experience illustrates one of the most important lessons my parents taught me: treat people with courtesy and respect, especially if you want something from them that you haven't paid for. This lesson about respect applies to everyone: teachers, delivery workers, store clerks, police officers, and anyone who has to deal with the public. It boggles my mind that so many people think that piss and vinegar will get them what they want in life.

I find it hard to believe that there is no itemized bill of lading. Check the bill, if the inventory is correct with your load, call the shipper. Verify that it’s curbside delivery. It appears that your only skill is getting from point a to point b. That’s not a delivery. That’s transport. Delivery is finishing the deal.

One party paid for extra delivery service and the middle man decided to pocket that money and pay the delivery driver for curbside delivery. The driver is required to have a bill of lading in order to legally have temporary possession of the goods on board although it needn't be a detailed list of materials, only the weight. This the customer signs and both get a copy. The purpose of the B/L is to acknowledge receipt of a shipment. The shipper would normally provide their customer with an itemized bill of sale that the driver would give to the customer to verify that he got what he paid for but can do this on his own time, at his own pace and not make a driver wait for it. If there's a discrepancy, the customer can take it up with the shipper later. In this instance, the carrier should charge the shipper for a refused delivery (usually 1/2 hour) and return the goods at the same rate that they were going to deliver it for. The extra cost would have to be born by the shipper and not the carrier who in this instance is faultless. The shipper can recover from their customer if they think he's being unreasonable or trying to get something for nothing. The trucker can't because, as a third party, he has no contract with the customer.

If the order ain't right, don't take it out on the driver. It probably passed through no less than 3-5 other people's hands before it hit his. All he does is throw some straps on it, fight traffic, and take the abuse when it ain't right.

Wrong !! The "Bill of Laden" will state if it's an inside delivery or not, usually at the bottom of the bill. An "inside" delivery will be an additional charge and depending on the weight, on the "drive way"(asphalt) most times a "NO GO". The homeowner was looking for an easier way for the delivery. I'm almost positive he didn't pay for an inside delivery, he should have bid the guy "Good Day" and moved on...Delivered for over 35 years, if it can't be done, move on...

@wheelie6424 ай бұрын
I agree. The driver should have walked to check out what the customer was asking. Forget about anything else. He needed to stop being lazy and go look. Maybe he wouldn’t be able to get it into the back yard but maybe they would come to an agreement where to leave it if he just took the walk. The driver is passive aggressive at being lazy. If I was the driver I would have done a much better job offering customer service. I would have walked away with a big tip and a big thank-you even if I could only leave the delivery by the road. He was a lazy disrespectful driver that could have shown the contract to the owner then say, “ Letme take a look, if I can help you out I will” Easy. Very very easy. Cooperate If it was not possible to do as the customer asked the customer would have let the driver make the delivery because the driver at least made an honest effort. I got a $50 tip today as a wheel chair van transportation driver. I made the passenger extra comfortable and played Irish music on the radio for him because he was Irish …I didn’t have to do all that I did but I just treated the passenger as I would want to be treated. It took very little effort to give extra good service. I was rewarded for my troubles.

I feel your pain! I do deliveries for a large Greenhouse operation in the Midwest. We send large quantities of live plants all over. I've run into these A Holes all the time. Best thing to do is say good bye and go home, the guy is just being a D##k to exert his power over the lowly driver. He'll call the boss with a sob story and try to blame everything on the driver and insist they redeliver. If the vendor company has any sense of ethics, they will charge him for the restock fee and tell him to go somewhere else. It's also very possible he had a sub contractor lined up and P O ed them and they walked, so he's looking to find excuse to send it back at the companies expense.

I don't think he looked at it closely at first. If it was the wrong stuff, the old guy would get stuck hauling stuff up to the house and back down for the pick up. And up again with the right stuff. He was rude to the driver. It was not the driver's fault; but I can't blame the guy for not taking that delivery. There was no way he would have known that they would send it on that huge vehicle--that wouldn't go up the drive. Also, it was the wrong stuff! I would have been a lot nicer to the driver, buy I would not have accepted the delivery. When I order lumber, etc... I expect it not to be delivered to the side of the road, where I have to haul it up to my property. Even the driver made mention of the traffic.

Customers and consignees: here is how to take a delivery. If a trucker calls you for directions ANSWER YOUR PHONE!! we dont need to be stressed out looking for your unmarked shed, hidden field, we need landmarks! No matter how grouchy you feel, BETTER START BEING ALL CHARMING AND HAPPY when your 2000 pounds of crap arrive. Say hello, offer a drink, pretend the driver is your mother. Settle for what the driver can do for you..we do this every day, we know how far we can go without getting stuck. Many drivers DO NOT drive up over sidewalks and driveways, our gear cracks concrete and blacktop..and we dont want to fix the ruts in your grass either. Sometimes we are in a big hurry ,bosses dump as many deliverys as possible on us. Check for damage, you can verify the freight against the packing list/ invoice. If you need special delivery..thru the woods, past the curb, up the steps, at a certain time YOU HAVE TO PAY ALOT EXTRA. just cause your a cheapskate dont go begging an innocent driver to do extra work for you..we are busy too
