Brand new house. Went to deliver all the appliances. Karen at the door said that if we got so much as a spec of dust or dirt inside the house she would sue. Called the manager and he said "Bring it all back". We did. Life is too short to take it seriously or to deal with Karens.

I hate when people, especially Karens, treat hard working people doing back breaking work (I imagine those appliances weren’t light) like second class citizens. Good for you man, life is too short to deal with that crap.

@@anthonybarefoot6744 my cousin worked at Lowes and I would hear so many horror stories.. she has autism (high functioning so if you weren’t told you wouldn’t know) and she was on lunch talking to her friend / coworker and it came up and her manager overheard and unprovoked started treating her like shit and saying, “I heard you have autism, I hope you understand I’m not going to be any easier on you because of that because no one in the real world cares about your autism…” and her manager would just be mean and cruel to her based on something she overheard two people talking about. And she would say it every week at least once just to be cruel, she would ask my cousin to do something and follow it with, “and you better have it done right and on time and I don’t wanna hear excuses or about your autism” all un promoted as my cousin never complained or brought up her autism or try to use it as an excuse or crutch… she literally just mentioned it one time in casual conversation to a coworker/friend. Finally I told her that she doesn’t have to put up with that kind of abuse and what is essentially being treated poorly due to a disability so I had my lawer contact the store and say that he had heard from a “customer” me.. that overheard this manager verbally abusing a worker about her autism and that is a clear OSHA violation that also violates the Americans With Disabilities Act so you might want to stop doing that as you are literally breaking a law. My cousin never heard that bitch say anything about it again and the horrible woman apologized and luckily my cousin got the hell out of there the second she graduated college and now has a great job in entertainment and got the job based on her senior thesis on the portrayal of autistic people in media as well as their mistreatment in the workplace. So there is some justice and a happy ending

I had a delivery last year. Driver was familiar to me. I asked if he could put my delivery in my barn. He tried, but it was a no go. He bumped the wall on the way out and left a little dent. Then he tried to tell me where to send the repair bill. I said, “There won’t be a bill. You were trying to do me a favor. This was my fault. Thanks for trying!” I appreciate these drivers.

Chris, I agree! The trucker offered to get the material as close as possible which is already above and beyond what the customer paid for. Good thing the trucker filmed this with his phone. Many times these customers will lie about the delivery person and say that they were insulting, threatening and/or used bad language. I have over 30 yrs of managment experience in delivery companies and I've seen this. However, there are folks out there who are friendly to drivers, offer them water and may even tip the driver. No doubt. When I took delivery of a gun safe, I made sure that they were bringing it into my house and putting it where I wanted it. You work this out up-front. The owner-lady made sure it was in the delivery instructions and asked me questions like: is it being taken up or down flights of stairs, are there any hard corners that will cause problems, etc. That's good, that's what you want. It cost me an extra $50 and was worth every penny. It was 5 minutes of work for them, the hydraulic thing they used to move the 665-lb. gun safe was pretty cool to see in action. I was happy to not break my back, totally worth it!

Customers pay for services such as curbside (literally), threshold (meaning just inside a front door or garage), room of choice (any room INSIDE the house), and white glove (includes room of choice, unpacking and dunnage removal). Those paid-for services are printed on the delivery receipt if requested. MANY times I got yelled at for NOT performing a service that wasn’t paid for in advance. If it was, I gladly did it. If they argued, I called our appointments clerk at the terminal. If you specified the service you wanted and paid for it, then it should be performed. I commend you for your patience. As a former truck driver (high-cube, not big rigs) I had to deal with the same kind of natural born jackasses all the time. I was respectful but on the odd occasion when a customer got stubborn or abusive I’d stop what I was doing, look at him and say, “Look, I don’t have time for this. Do you want your stuff or not?” Usually he relented but one time a guy shouted an cursing at me for parking on the designated spot to drop off his items instead of a parking lot across a busy street. When he started threatening me I just got in my truck and drive off with his items. I told my boss and after he talked to that idiot he agreed with my actions and refunded the guy’s money. I also said to send another driver next time because I wasn’t going to deliver to him again.

It was a mud construction sight.. with stacks of junk everywhere.. they wanted me to go off-roading way into the back corner of their mess.. turn around in the mud and back up right to the front of their mini 20 ft storage container to off load some of their order.. 🤣(probably never even seen a semi much less understand how it maneuvers or how much room it takes to turn one around).. then they had to wait for union laborer to gather together to think about how to hand off load what they wanted.. then after cigarette breaks and i guess wasting as much time as they legally could and certainly when they wanted to.. very rude, not courteous, offensive and ridiculously unnecessary.. they picked up one piece at a time walk it into their trailer move junk to place their piece.. then take another cigarette break.. we could of offloaded up front.. on parking lot.. they could of been paid for six months to carry it back to their foot locker/tackle box on their atv.. but the foreman called the company and said to their door meant that trailer since their was no door yet.. it was mean and stupid.. i was hoping the truck would get stuck and maybe the tow truck would get stuck too.. but eight hours later.. i got out. happy days educating Puyallup ahead I pray! yup customer’s spending state or county money are worse than anal procrastinators who have no room for the project of their dreams.. after they sobered up and realized they messed up while they were drunk 🥃.

A few years ago, I ordered a large amount of lumber to build a deck in my backyard. I paid for curbside delivery, which I knew meant at the curb. However, after chatting up the driver for a short while, I asked if he could help me get the load into the garage, which would save me a lot of work. At first, he hesitated, saying that technically he wasn't supposed to do that. However, he agreed to meet me more than halfway. He offered to back into the driveway and get it as close to the garage as he could. I was grateful and thanked him for his extra effort. After he left, I carried the boards one at a time into the garage, which was a lot easier given that it was close to the garage. The experience illustrates one of the most important lessons my parents taught me: treat people with courtesy and respect, especially if you want something from them that you haven't paid for. This lesson about respect applies to everyone: teachers, delivery workers, store clerks, police officers, and anyone who has to deal with the public. It boggles my mind that so many people think that piss and vinegar will get them what they want in life.

As a driver myself, these deliveries are always my favourite. There is no easier delivery than a non delivery. This is what I'm contracted to do, you don't want it? Cool, I'll take it back and have a great day man, lol. If the customer still wanted the product it would be charged for re-delivery a second time with the same restriction after the office explained to the customer what their obligation was and what they were paying for. Its a waste of time to do the job twice but if the customer wants to pay for that then its their money.

The driver is required to have a bill of lading in order to legally have temporary possession of the goods on board although it needn't be a detailed list of materials, only the weight. This the customer signs and both get a copy. The purpose of the B/L is to acknowledge receipt of a shipment. The shipper would normally provide their customer with an itemized bill of sale that the driver would give to the customer to verify that he got what he paid for but can do this on his own time, at his own pace and not make a driver wait for it. If there's a discrepancy, the customer can take it up with the shipper later. In this instance, the carrier should charge the shipper for a refused delivery (usually 1/2 hour) and return the goods at the same rate that they were going to deliver it for. The extra cost would have to be born by the shipper and not the carrier who in this instance is faultless. The shipper can recover from their customer if they think he's being unreasonable or trying to get something for nothing. The trucker can't because, as a third party, he has no contract with the customer.

I agree. The driver should have walked to check out what the customer was asking. Forget about anything else. He needed to stop being lazy and go look. Maybe he wouldn’t be able to get it into the back yard but maybe they would come to an agreement where to leave it if he just took the walk. The driver is passive aggressive at being lazy. If I was the driver I would have done a much better job offering customer service. I would have walked away with a big tip and a big thank-you even if I could only leave the delivery by the road. He was a lazy disrespectful driver that could have shown the contract to the owner then say, “ Letme take a look, if I can help you out I will” Easy. Very very easy. Cooperate If it was not possible to do as the customer asked the customer would have let the driver make the delivery because the driver at least made an honest effort. I got a $50 tip today as a wheel chair van transportation driver. I made the passenger extra comfortable and played Irish music on the radio for him because he was Irish …I didn’t have to do all that I did but I just treated the passenger as I would want to be treated. It took very little effort to give extra good service. I was rewarded for my troubles.

If a trucker calls you for directions ANSWER YOUR PHONE!! we dont need to be stressed out looking for your unmarked shed, hidden field, we need landmarks! No matter how grouchy you feel, BETTER START BEING ALL CHARMING AND HAPPY when your 2000 pounds of crap arrive. Say hello, offer a drink, pretend the driver is your mother. Settle for what the driver can do for you..we do this every day, we know how far we can go without getting stuck. Many drivers DO NOT drive up over sidewalks and driveways, our gear cracks concrete and blacktop..and we dont want to fix the ruts in your grass either. Sometimes we are in a big hurry ,bosses dump as many deliverys as possible on us. Check for damage, you can verify the freight against the packing list/ invoice. If you need special delivery..thru the woods, past the curb, up the steps, at a certain time YOU HAVE TO PAY ALOT EXTRA. just cause your a cheapskate dont go begging an innocent driver to do extra work for you..we are busy too
