Love the attention to detail, as someone who has an enormous love for these vehicles, I'm glad to see someone else who appreciates them like i do.

What spec carpet did you get from stock interiors? Is it just a basic one or did you get the mass backing and the extra stuff like that
@avengednick

I did the black plush cut pile with mass backing added

It's all in the details bro. I just spent $200 to get some gloss black stem valve stems (and sensors too...) for my new wheels that i've got coming in today. hardly anyone will notice. i will. and i like it.
@avengednick
@avengednick Жыл бұрын
It really is! See I think that's the key to building a car right there, do what you like because you like it or will notice it. Did I order a second carpet because people were going to notice a few small details in my carpet? No, I knew I was going to notice them and that was all that mattered.

Minor set-back, the learning experience will show on the replacement. I agree with a previous comment in regards to not using heat to score your cut outs. It would be difficult to control the heat distribution.

Exactly! Just another learning lesson along the way. And agreed, I'm going to try to find a hole punch to use based on another technique I found.

I had a failure installing a carpet for a 300z. Ordered another one, frustrating. These new "molded" carpets aren't the best fitting IMO.
@avengednick
@avengednick Жыл бұрын
Super frustrating! And agree with you there, not sure what they're molded to but it's definitely a lose interpretation of the chassis. Haha I got somewhat lucky and mine fits pretty well but the corners are quite as tight as OEM, but I've see others that are far worse

I did the plush cut pile and added the mass backing! I believe that's exactly what this one was and I thought it was perfect and super easy to work with. The mass backing seemed to help my cutting easier.

While it sucks having issues like this... especially ones that end up costing you more money... it's still good content IMHO and I'm glad you still put it up. You learned something from the mistakes you made, and hopefully others will also learn from the mistakes and maybe avoid them so look on these kind of videos as a PSA! On the heated socket trick... I've haven't heard of anyone using a socket, but I heard of the same trick on Vice Grip Garage but he uses an old punch of some sort kzbin.info/www/bejne/gaaoY4aEo7mfepI
