Regarding packing and playing Tetris with the belongings: I take pictures of our baggage areas and the bed of our truck with everything packed up so that we remember where it all belongs, especially if we stay somewhere for an extended period of time. I then created an album within Google Photos called RV Packing so I may find the photos easily. If we change something, I update the pictures.

You guys influenced us and we've been full time in our 2002 Tiffin Allegro Bus for 2 years now. I'm watching from the other Portland...Oregon. We traveled coast to coast last year and loveed it. Since I am a heart patient but have been healthy enough to travel. At the end of May, I had another small stoke, it fully resolved itself and I have no residual damage at all, but my wife had to drive from the wilderness of Central Oregon, to the town of Bend. I was released the next day. At first, she was done traveling because it freaked her out. Now, we will limit ourselves to being somewhat near a town with a hospital. So, we are still in the rig, but traveling less. Thanks for all you share with us. My medical history... 10 heart surgeries, 5 stents, 1 quad bypass, thyroid cancer, 5 mini-strokes, and hospitalized and survived a nasty bout of covid 19. But I'm still kickin'! Bryan Green-ONeal

As a fellow full timer and having a 38' class a with a 20' trailer (63' long total), there is always a point where you are committed to putting it somewhere. I understand Phil's interest in his services history. Even with Army history, it pops up where you least expect it and I ALWAYS stop and learn about it. RV Trip Wizard is awesome. It makes researching trips so much easier. Its the best value for the money.

I was there stationed in Berlin in the Army from 1987 to 1990 when the wall came down in 1989. My wife and I got married 2 months before in Denmark. We thought the East Germans would come across by the 1000’s. They didn’t, because they couldn’t afford western German goods and Svc’s. We met some East Germans, we took them out to dinner and showed the around. Many of the military families did that. They spoke a different dialect of German, but knew most of what German’s call “high Deutsch”. Each of the 12 German Pfalze’s (states), speak a different dialect of German different enough that they can’t understand each other, so they have high deutch. We toured eastern Germany, the people were happy to see us and was interested where we were from. Great video!

Great video! Something to add to “you better be okay with it” list, is laundry. If you are lucky enough to have an on board washer/dryer it’s not to bad but those who have to use a laundry mat it can be challenging depending on where you are RVing. Smaller meal prep areas and one of my personal issues are the hard to pull out drawers. They are tight for a reason but pulling hard to open them does get old after awhile. Happy Camping and Be Safe y’all.

We had a power problem on a 100 degree day. Lost one leg of power and one AC. Hughes PWD showed 120V on each leg. Started the generator and all was good. Since it was 100 outside and the sun was shining on the ATS compartment I just ran off the generator until 10PM. The next morning I turned off all power and checked out our ATS. The wire going from the output of the relay to inside the rig fell off. It was never fully inserted into the connector! Put it back in and then tighten up 70% of the loose connections in the ATS! Moral to the story is the ATS needs maintenance also - out of sight does not mean out of mind.

If you are ever back in Maine, you need to try the lobster shack in Cape Elizabeth. You get to sit outside right on the oceanfront and right by a lighthouse from two light State Parks. Their seafood is awesome as well. If you go back to Canada, don't forget to try a Poutine. The Italian Poutine is my favorite. Hoping to be full-time by this time next year maybe we'll see you out on the road. Happy travels!🦞

We use RV Trip Wizard to help plan our travel. We joined after catching up with you guys in the booth at the Florida RV Super Show several years ago. We enter the places we want to go on the trip, then set dates for things that have specific dates (events, weddings, cruses, etc.), and then we start filling in the journey with places to stay and routes. The route and itinerary are setup based on staying at the RV parks in our membership, Harvest Hosts, boondocking locations, lot docking, and any other places we want to stay. We planned our fall trip to New England and back to Florida this way. We are also using this method to plan our trip from Florida to Alaska in 2024.

We're in Prince Edward's Island now after spending a month in Nova Scotia, including Cape Breton Island. Watch out for alcohol quantities when crossing the border! Great 7 points but a summary at the end would have been good. We stopped connecting the "dog" at the pedestal as it was too sensitive! Our rig has a good energy management system. RV Trip Wizard is a must for full timers! Many hours to plan and book places.

So there's a short story about a submarine Commander who had been out to sea for almost 20 years and when he came home him and his wife retired and bought themselves Motorcoach. They were divorced within a year. Apparently he was so set in his ways and she wasn't going to take any orders. Living in that close proximity is difficult if you don't have your own habits and hobbies set in that direction. Don't forget you're living in a 45-foot hallway

I know you like RV Trip Wizard, but I still like Excel. I can add rows for alternative campgrounds in the area, in case we can't get in to the one we want. I have a column for what activities we want to do at that location. I have columns for number of miles to travel, number of nights and nightly camping cost. At the end of the Excel sheet I have an estimate of how much fuel we'll need (and roughly what that will cost) and what we'll pay for camping. It's a way to estimate what a trip will cost beforehand.

So Stacy, I plan all the trips and love spending hours doing so but my one complaint with RV Trip Wizard is I wish there were different icons for say Harvest Host/Boondockers Welcome places, National Parks, Historical etc. and places to eat ( ie lobster roles). When I plan day outings I have to realign or put 1 day in if we’re returning to the same place. Not a big deal as I put HH in front of places or CAR TRIP if we’re driving to somewhere for the day. I also wish KZbinrs would include parking suggestions for places, I loved the LL Bean parking info. Thanks for the video, it was great!
@todayissomeday
@todayissomeday 10 ай бұрын
I totally agree with the icons! I wish if nothing else we could upload our own. As far as adding a location more than once, I do that. You just have to reenter it in the search bar. Sometimes I will type in the address instead of the name or vice/versa. Then after its there I will change the title so they are the same.

Wow, 4 hours of research for a 10 day trip is nothing - it took me that long just to research the hiking trails in NS and Cape Breton (elevation change, mileage), then more to look up birding hotspots and recent sightings, travel distances, how long I think I’ll want to drive in a day, lodging, whale boat trip schedules, etc….etc. Thankfully I enjoy researching. On that lobster boat do they show you how they kill the lobster? That’s the part I disdain - I’ve never liked it anyway, or any other seafood or meat for that matter….Cape Breton was gorgeous!

Thank you for another informative and entertaining video. I think someone one said you have the perfect travel kit when you reach the point when there is nothing else that you need to leave behind. My husband once asked me if I have even owned a vehicle I had not slept in... No I don't believe I have. Oh and a few I only rented. My thought has always been less is more and there are stores in most places. I would add #8, if you can't laugh at or with the problems you may not want to live in a vehicle or RV. Some of our breakdowns made for some interesting stories. You just can't take yourself too seriously. Thank you for taking us along on your adventures. Safe travels and maybe our paths with cross out there on the road.

I was just there and stayed the night in that same parking lot a few days ago in my van. Would have loved meeting you two😁😁LOL I put an end destination into google maps then stop in every town in between. Course I live in a Ford Econoline Van so it's not as big a deal parking for me. I use IOverlander to find places to park for the night.

We've been fulltimers for 6 years and I rarely do much preplanning. I'm more like Phil, I just get in and go 😁 though I do take a peak at Campendium or Allstays from time to time. We did Yellowstone in 2021 in July and stayed in Tetons and Yellowstone parks with our 41ft 5th wheel without reservations. We relied on boondocking sites or if we needed hookups (laundry) I'd usually pack up and drive into the campground even if it said it was full and ask if they had any cancelations or no-shows. Rarely did they turn me away, usually offering at least a night or two and on one instance I got 4 nights in one of Yellowstone's bigger campgrounds and this was during peak summer season 😉

We have watched and subscribed for over a year, funny how many similar things have happened to us too, we had things fall in shower and bathroom, one put a small dent in our bathroom sink ☹️, we had a leak at our water pump, road debris hit our stablelizer, our power cord was dragged once 😒, our water line frozen once ( now I have a heated hose for colder areas) our airstream slipped off its block in front but was able to still connect, our fridge had error codes, after internet search was able to reset, our gas went out, it needed to be bled worked again, we need 50amp but can run on 30amp with one Air conditioner, yeah probably more and more to come 😉. We camp about half time through out the year due to my work but still love camping our next outing is 16 days long with Yellowstone and another 4-5 parks along the trip.

With the storms going on in the North East USA and Atlantic Canada it’s possible you were experiencing power brown or blackouts in the electrical grid not necessarily the park’s problem the also if a parks water system is connected to the local government water grid the local government can up the water pressure at any time without telling the rv park especially if there is a new housing development by the park that happened to a rv park in OHIO

We are just ending a monthlong trip of the eastern Canadian provinces(Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, PEI, New Brunswick and Quebec). It was a great trip. Great things to see and do. We have an F250 and a 22" Lance travel trailer. We have been all over the US and Canada, including Alaska and Yukon, but I have never encountered roads as bad as the roads in eastern Canada. The Trans Canada road systems and the national park roads are good, but the Provincial roads and municipal roads are extremely bad. Our trailer has been dismantling itself on this trip. Expect deep potholes and brain jarring frost heaves. These are worst roads in North America. Be ready to do some repair work on the road. We have never encountered roads this bad in western Canada or anywhere in the USA.

What campground did you use for your stay in Portland? If you like lobster rolls you should try scallop rolls. Especially if they use the small bay scallops. There are lots of great places to eat in that area. Next time try Becky's Diner. They can make a well done burger. We have never stayed overnight or taken the RV to Bean. We stay at Cedar Haven Family Campground, nice place. Hope you found the Bean outlet store where the big markdown/sales are. A place you might like, When Pigs Fly bakery in Freeport.

Yes and yes! It is a one time purchase without a monthly fee. It connects to an app. Its the same brand we used to monitor temperature in the RV for our dog Gizmo. Its a Govee Water Sensor: amzn.to/3Q8tRa8 We purchased extra sensors to place throughout the RV including the basement.
