Thank you to Todd from @Trail89Adventures for collaborating with me on this amazing trail run

While it has been a dozen years since I was last out there, I drove this trail on numerous occasions. The first time with a stock '87 Samurai and later trips with a well-modified '99 XJ. Since most of the time I went out to 'bag peaks' in the Dripping Spring Mountains area or hiking the length of Mineral Creek all the way to the North edge of the Ray Mine property, I was always alone... while it never phased me, mid-Summer trips weren't exactly what others were keen on experiencing with me. That said, for folks unfamiliar with the area, I feel some clarification is in order... While the trail may have the moniker Devils Canyon Trail, at no time are you actually driving IN Devils Canyon. Along the first part while heading South, to the right you are OVERLOOKING Devils Canyon. Once you turn West to cross over the ridge the canyon you drop down into is actually RAWHIDE Canyon. You will drive South for about .8 mile in Rawhide Canyon before doing a 180 and head North for another .8 mile. From there you climb Eastward and follow a zig-zagging up-and-down route through mini-canyons. The next major canyon (which is unnamed) you will drive Southward almost two miles before it bends Eastward. Once you reach Mineral Creek you have a choice: 1. Continue on toward Government Spring 2. Turn North and follow FR #2 along Lyons Canyon to FR #349 and following it to exit onto the US 60 across from the Pinto Mine. (In all but one trip I chose option #2.)

Awesome! Sounds like you had some great adventures out there! As you probably know the golden rule is never go off-roading alone. If that were the case though, I would never get to run any trails at all, as I usually am solo. After I ran the Devil's Canyon Trail, I had a group of friends head out there that had about nine rigs in total. Four flat tires and a broken tie rod later, they eventually made it out. When I ran out with my friend Todd, as you saw on the video, we came out completely unscathed with zero issues. With that being said, if I was out there alone and I had flats or broken tie rods or a mechanical failure, it would not have been fun at all as it was in the dead of Summer. Seeing as though I do run solo 95 percent of the time, I usually go well prepared. Had it been winter time, I most likely would have run it alone. But being that remote, you can only carry so much water. I appreciate the insights and info on the trail as well. Lots of trails out here are named for areas that you aren't actually in, and it's always been kind of annoying to me, but it is what it is I guess😊. Thank you so much for watching and I really hope you enjoyed the video! Keep on adventuring!

@@BuckinLifeoffroad While it is in fact a good rule, like you say, if going solo, be prepared. In my serious off-roading days I always carried enough extra food & water in the event case I had to hike out 10-15 miles. For the vehicle, I had a winch that could be connected to front or rear receiver, I always carried extra parts, tools, chains (small to large), mechanics wire, electrical wire, ratchet straps, bungee cords, random pieces of metal (angle iron, flat & rod) almost to the point of overkill. However... I was NEVER left stranded. Between materials, tools, a healthy dose of critical-thinking skills along with the ability to calmly analyze the problem and effect the SIMPLEST solution. - Broken main leaf on a rear spring? Secured it enough to drive 150 miles home using large c-clamps, 2 ratchet straps, 'baling wire' and some careful driving. - Broke long-arm suspension mount off front axle? Secured with chain, LARGE c-clamp, ratchet strap and baling wire. (ROUGH terrain so it took VERY careful driving to get back out) - Alternator bracket bolt broke off? Jammed a piece of driftwood between engine and alternator and secured it with wire. - Popped tire off rim? Jacked it up and hit with high pressure air, as I had ARB air compressor and the most critical part, a 5 gallon air tank for long enough continuous pressure - More than enough others to test the ability to recall.

I live in Globe and want to do this trail once i can get power steering in my 87 Samurai. I am happy to see you two on this trail keeping it alive! Did you go through the Gov springs ranch or bypass it?
@BuckinLifeoffroad4 ай бұрын
We went through Gov springs. Really appreciate you watching. It's an absolute amazing Trail

Correct me if I'm wrong, but stock Sasquatch or are you on a lift? I had no idea this trail exists.
@BuckinLifeoffroad5 ай бұрын
@zack5887 yes it's stock with the Sasquatch package from the factory. Factory lift at 1.75 in and 35 in tires. I have added nothing suspension wise.... now that you know Devil's Canyon exists, I definitely suggest going out and running it, because it's amazing😊

Definitely not recommended... Very remote.... you can but if something happens you're going to be kind of screwed

If its that overgrown, it just means more people need to get out there and run it.
