Gotta Be the hardest Appalachian Trail section hike thru Virginia and the Priest Wilderness during the hottest and driest hike I've experienced. This hike was hard due to the heat and humidity , but also the terrain thru this section. NOBO 813- Cow Camp Gap Shelter to the Priest Shelter

@@Ramdinohikesyou're probably thinking of poison hemlock which is easily mistaken for Queen Anne's Lace. Easy way to differentiate between the two is this: "the lady has hairy legs." Queen Anne's Lace stem has tiny hairs on it. Poison hemlock does not. So just remember: " the lady has hairy legs" = Queen Anne's Lace. 😁

AT 7:48 on Cole Mt. they cut the grass up there with a tractor. My last trip up there was a number of years ago and watched. At 82 now my last trip was my last trip. Never saw the trail up; to the Priest shelter over grown like that. Have fun, Dave.

Priest is a noteworthy conquest from either direction! Glad you got a good view from Spy Rock - when I came through on my 2nd day it was clear but I didn’t have time to stop, and on the way back the 3rd day it was socked in with pea-soup fog…

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apiaceae You have to look at the flowering section, it could be Queen Annes lace, but with that highth it could be poisonous Hemlock or Hogweed. All parts of it has the toxic poison on it. Hemlock flowerettes are tiny, white and umbrella shaped, center flowette is white whereas Queen annes lace the flower is similar but flat and the center flowerette is purpleish or reddish. The stem of QAL is hairy with no spots, whereas hemlock stems are smooth with purple blotches. To be on the safe side, look but dont touch either wnless you are absolutely certain! Cheers!
