Hi Ramdino, you sure are a blessing to all the hikers out there with all your reporting and experienced advice. The family I was concerned about, "Dirtbag Family Hikers", that abruptly stopped their KZbin videos and viewers were concerned what happened to them, did just get off trail, like you suggested when I asked if you'd heard anything. They're doing fine, but not continuing the AT due to medical issues. Prayers for your father's upcoming surgery. He sounds like one tough dude at 85. He'll do just fine.

HEY RAMDINO! Thanks for the video! I always appreciate you for doing these. I know Sadie will be found alive and well and reunited with her mom Bright Eyes! Thanks for keeping the updates on them. We are having a hot spell out here in Utah as well! It's insane!!! I have watched several thousands of video's from different thru hikers especially on the AT and I have to say there is LESS THEN 10% just from the videos of people who actually hang there food bag at night, or any other time. So many people don't care about the bears or even protecting the bears. The people could care less. So many people admitted to it. Some even said that they could just beat up the bear themselves (idiots). Many others just said they would scare the bears or use pepper spray or something sharp on the bears. I guess I just don't understand people. If they truly love nature and being outdoors, for God sake respect nature, animals, LNT, etc. YOU are invading their space. When I do my Thru-Hike I will be hanging my bear bag/Ursack or I will use a bear canister. It's worth the weight to save the bears. Thanks! - Shybee

Thanks as always for the update Ramdino. I can vouch for the Barn Hostel in Gorham. I enjoyed my stay there in 2022 on my thru hike. Nothing fancy but everything a thru hiker needs. Paul was a great host and was very helpful in facilitating the return of my tent which got pulled out of my pack unnoticed by a tree branch coming down Mount Moriah but fortunately found by a fellow hiker and safely returned to me. A memorable day for sure!

Just a couple questions?? When a hiker starts he gets a at number. Then at harpers ferry they get another. What does that number at harpers ferry represent? The number of people that are exiting harpers and entering the north? Did you have any complete to kathadin this week? Is it OK to ask when you are going to pa. And where? How would one hike with you or give you some trail magic?
@sticktheeagle6 ай бұрын
The number at Harper’s Ferry indicates the order you arrived at HF.
@Ramdinohikes6 ай бұрын
@johnwilbur7707 the number at Harpers is their NOBO number if red. Another # for a flipper & another for a SOBO. I don't have any I am tracking or that have given me an update summit this week. Hiking with and trail magic are always appreciated. Send me a DM or email
@johnwilbur77076 ай бұрын
@@sticktheeagle so then as ramdino reports the last number was 68. That seems low. Could there be that many that give up?
@wanttogo19585 ай бұрын
@@johnwilbur7707Ramdino mentioned in this video that two NOBOS were numbers in the 660s range I believe meaning that they were that number of NOBO hiker passing through. Sometimes Ramdino tells us what the hiker’s starting number was. With those two numbers you get some idea of how many have dropped out and/or how fast the specific hiker is hiking.

Please show 5 and 3 leaf poison ivy. Many don't know about 5 leaf and it's on trees also and ground.
@Ramdinohikes5 ай бұрын
Not familiar with 5 leaf variety. Virginia creeper is prolific with poison ivy and has 5 leaves but its not poisonous
@wanttogo19585 ай бұрын
There is no such thing as 5 leaf poison ivy. You may be thinking of Virginia Creeper that has a leaf similar in shape to poison ivy but they grow in 5 leaf clusters. Virginia Creeper does not contain the same oil as poison ivy so, for most people, there is not a bad reaction when you come in contact with it. The berries are poisonous to people but not birds. However, I would not handle Virginia Creeper without wearing leather gloves as the sap contains crystals of calcium oxalate which can penetrate the skin and cause irritation in some people.

The Barn Hostel is adjacent to the Libby House B&B, under same ownership. It is what you might expect: beds upstairs, common area downstairs, washer/dryer, a designated bathroom/shower for hikers. Several shops and restaurants are within walking distance, but the Walmart is kinda far (shuttle sign up for a small fee). It was full the last time I was there, with some tenting in the yard out back, and everyone seemed happy. Remember this is New England, Gorham is based on tourism, and the tourists are coming from places like Boston. In this context the hostel is a real value proposition. The owner is old school (check out his cool classic land yacht automobile out front) so it doesn't surprise me he prefers old school payment methods. Remember also that there is a B&B on the property, and just like other hostels whose primary business is a B&B, there may be rules usually unstated that become explicitly stated. Have fun in Gorham, y'all.

@Kyfried6 ай бұрын
Canada and US both have the same agenda to destroy morals and indoctrinate the New generation an defy God's word, so there shouldn't be no border and probably won't be for long. They want all borders open for the one world order and it will be divided in sections. Watch if the Lord tarries. Though I pray not.
