Most common mistake: Not giving momentum forward. So the attacker hits the teep, but he get's pushed backwards by his own kick.

@bigheadrhino

The moment when I stopped doing this was such a beautiful moment. It’s more about making sure your hips are in front of your planted leg by leaning your upperbody back and pushing your hips forward (in front of your planted foot). Even if they block your momentum, your body will just lever back into position instead of pushing you backwards.

@bigheadrhino
@bigheadrhino Жыл бұрын
@@yungthug2403 your rear leg would be up on the ball of the foot and the leg would be a bit angled forward because the hip is forward. Being on the ball of the foot also helps because if you get pushed back you can just hop back.

Absolutely, it also helps you avoid having your teep caught!
@babadraga3114
@babadraga3114 2 жыл бұрын
It avoids having your teep caught, or getting your leg kicked out from under you once you put it down. What it actively does, is exactly what you said; it resets your hips so you can throw another kick with power. It would be teep>retract>kick instead of teep>place your foot down>use movement to readjust your hips>kick Just more efficient use of energy and less wasted motion. Also, think about it. If you retract that teep right, your second kick is a LOT harder to see coming than if you had to make the cumbersome movement to regain stance.
@-Aidan

Ahh didn't realize I should retract my leg back, i was sort of pushing down to apply extra power, can't wait to practice the retractions tomorrow! Cheers for the teeps!

All kicks (that don’t follow all the way through) should retract exactly as they are thrown! I find teep kicks got more effective when I focused more on the explosive movement rather than the prolonged “push” motion

A quick note tho, if you do hit the teep and it sends your opponent back, feel free to drop it in your new stance in order to walk forward towards them to follow up with more strikes. Just don't make a habit out of dropping your foot because this leaves you pretty open to counters.

One thing you missed is that you gotta bring your hip forwards as the power comes from there and also less likely to make you fall backwards from your own teep. Stay on the ball point of the foot when teeping helps balancing when coming back to the start position, same goes with kicking when on the ball point helps you swing the body results in high power kick.
