Do NOT try this trail without a WINCH! KAT MAIN 1 HARD 2 (Part 4)

Hard Trail 2 on the Kentucky Adventure Tour definitely proved to be the muddiest of all the sections! I found one mud hole that was up to my hood line! Also, I stumbled upon an old cemetery along this trail that was an added bonus! Be sure to bring a friend and a winch for this one!

Great video! I agree with you with regards to finding trash on the trail. People need to respect the trail clean up after themselves. Your winch has been getting a lot of use on the KAT!

The trash is very sad to see especially at a cemetery. I cleaned up what I could but there was still a lot there. That section of the KAT was especially muddy and my winch put in overtime 💪🏻

Need a little bit more of an aggressive tire. For the wet stuff. Specially in the south. You start to deal with more clay.

Agreed. The ATs are great in the snow, which is what I deal with a lot, but turn into racing slicks in the mud. I have a JKU on MTs that would have been better suited for this trail.

@@johnmadsen37 I do know my MTs on my JK are horrible on snowy roads at high speed. The ATs on the Gladiator crush in the winter conditions in Michigan. Best snow tire I’ve ever run.

Yep. My KO2’s are great on-road, great off road in winter, take me through black rock crawling trails at Rausch Creek and AOAA and are decent at mud. But I avoid deep mud if possible - so it’s a good combo for my wheeling.

@That_Guy_Outside I see a lot of snow in Michigan and mud tires absolutely suck in the snow. I run Patagonia MTs on my Wrangler and it’s like being on ice skates in the snow.

I had my Glad Sport S for an entire week, and took it out into the local OHV area. The steepest we got into was 24 degrees. Both pointed up and down. It was an interesting sensation falling into the seatbelts and then into the seat back. No problems, though. Climbed it like a mountain goat.

The Gladiator really excels in climbs as the long wheelbase really helps. They’re very capable trucks.

Thanks for watching! Yeah, Hard 2 was probably my least favorite of the four Hard sections in Main 1. I think Hard 11 was my favorite.

Get some mud grapplers. It will be a night and day difference. Get some cheap wheels and swap them for off-roading.

Agreed. I have MTs on my JKU and they are much better in the mud. The Gladiator is my “overland” rig and sucks in the mud.

I could be wrong but noticed on some of the mud holes you werent using your lockers... maybe could have saved a winch job or two

Agreed. I did not engage my lockers while going through any of the mud holes until I was good and stuck already. I try not to use them as much as possible.

True. And that typically would happen if you’re heavy on the throttle and also turning the wheels or hopping the wheels. Typically not my style.

Mid tires would have definitely helped! My Gladiator is my daily driver/overland rig so the ATs fit that purpose. My JKU has mud terrains and would be suited better for this trail. How is the DBBB?

@@TrailExpedition it’s very fun. Not a lot of camping but they have a popular campground in the middle of the loop you can get to pretty easy. I’ve never stayed at but it was called Callie’s campground. There are a few primitive spots on the dbbb but it is definitely worth checking out. I’ve been 3 times.
