Do you mean manual traction with gliding? Gentle manual traction with gliding would be benificial to relieve pain.

Have you considered variations in traction techniques? I am a 67 male with severe stenosis at L4,5. I am NOT interested in having a fusion or laminectomy/decompression. I bought an inversion table 4 years ago and with mild traction at ~20° for ~ 5 min/day, my pain has lessened to the point, my life quality has improved. I suspect more extreme traction for longer periods of time may be what you have observed. Perhaps there is a balance where mild traction is beneficial; it has been to me. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thank you for the explanation. What if there is just a mild fissure in a disc, is Traction also dangerous?
@practicalpainmanagementwit8115 Жыл бұрын
t depends on the condition. If the disc is dehydrated with fissures, traction may not cause problems. However, a fresh nucleus pulposus with an annular tear could potentially worsen after traction.

Great video and even better expanation , can you provide as with articles supporting the enlargement of herniation after traction therapy?
@practicalpainmanagementwit8115 Жыл бұрын
It is a difficult issue, as it can be challenging to find information on this topic in published literature. However, based on my observations, I have witnessed cases where patients experienced worsening pain after undergoing certain procedures. I have personally experienced difficulty rising after manual traction for discogenic pain in the past.

What is the solution then can you please elaborate for disc injuries and back pain.
@practicalpainmanagementwit81152 жыл бұрын
The most important thing is to let them realize the altered biomechanics, such as poor working posture. I do intra-discal 50% dextrose and Botox with or without a low dose of steroids.

@@practicalpainmanagementwit8115 You can push that solution right into the disc? Does this reinflate the disc or heal the disc itself and add integrity. Sorry to ask so many questions.

Hello Doctor. Do the discs heal after a tear? How long does it take if so?

I have loss of cervical lordosis
@practicalpainmanagementwit81152 жыл бұрын
No, cervical traction could not return to normal lordosis. The only way to return is to make a good posture, straighten your back and chin in, and perform an isometric exercise.
