Do you have the Canon VND fully stopped down in this shot? From a quick test I did it seems like the magenta shift is only bad when you crank it all the way.

Yeah at 100% to the max the filter isn't usable, however up to 7-9 stops I think it has minimal pollution & minimal colour shift?

What do u mean crank it all the way ?
@jordibeard2 ай бұрын
@@creativegreatsvisuals I meant when you have it set to max ND. But it really is pretty bad throughout the range. I've since switched to the Breakthrough drop-in VND which is way better.

@ better than kolari vnd ? Do u use it a lot when using ef glass or do you prefer Rf glass with nd on the front of lens ? I use canon ef and Rf but kinda wanna go all Rf especially with the new Rf 24-105 2.8 that just came out and the new Rf 70-200 2.8 z

@@creativegreatsvisuals Haven't used kolari but the Breakthrough filter is the best VND I've used, even including screw-on filters. I use mostly Leica R lenses in EF mount and it's a great workflow. Also have the Mofage Poco filter mount which works super well for PL lenses.

“Is this good content..? Is this making you happy?..” Excellent. Presented a problem. Presented alternatives. Presented a solution. Thank you. Saved me money and satisfied a curiosity. Yes. Much better content than someone aimlessly ranting then pushing a semi sponsored product or bashing a product for shallow subjective reasons typically created by pilot/user error.

The filter itself is great if you’re using Canon mirrorless that have IR filters on their sensors. Not so much if you’re using on a Komodo, or other cinema, camera that does not have the IR filter. The problem isn’t Canon. It’s honestly that Red would offer it as part of their package knowing this color shift exists.

Why is the AF on your Komodo so Perfect?

Great video. Did you sell your FX6? I just sold mine and bought a Komodo. I still have the FX3, but I hated the look of the FX6. It was too clean, it also gave what looked like a thin negative. I just felt the colors were thin and everything always had a washed out look to it no matter what I did. I even bought Dehancer to try to fix it and give it a little color density. But I hated that camera man. The Komodo has issues, but man what a nice thick negative it gives. It’s really nice for the price. It’s not an Alexa, but it’s great for $6000 bucks.

I got the red komodo starter pack that included this filter. Glad to know I'm not the only who thinks this filter is horrible.
