Britain is a totalitarian state. We are presented with the Conservative, Liberal Democrats, Reform, Labour and Greens all of whom have exactly the same policies. All other parties are ignored or described as extremist. Energy prices have risen because it suits the elite and is a deliberate policy as is inflation. We have imported millions of immigrants against the will of the British population leading to mass house building and profits for developers destroying the Countryside. We voted to leave the European Union but are still under its control. People are persecuted by the court system for daring to disagree with the state. I myself have been sacked from a job because I disagreed with helping people have abortions and one of my daughters lost her job due her refusal to have the abortion vaccine against covid-19. Christians have lost their jobs in Britain only because they have worn a necklace with the cross on it.

*The Russian people feel more pleasure in servitude than in freedom* These are the words of an ambassador and diplomat of the Holy Roman Empire, Sigismund von Herberstein (1486-1566), who studied Russian customs, history and geography. In his book "Notes on Muscovite Affairs" he also says that *Russians are fanatically loyal to their ruler* And , about Russian tsar , he said: *in the power he (tsar) holds over his people the ruler of Muscovy surpasses all the monarchs of the world*

True, the videos are filtered through editing and that allows the possibility of them being heavily biased. The editor could be incentivized to tailor the content for maximum profit. However, the same could be said about any source. Call me naïve if you want but I see open ended questions and the variety of opinions given by the interviewees as a sign of the authors honest intentions. Personally I don't see a conspiracy here.

As ironic as it sounds, he is right in a way. Not so much in the material as in the spiritual sense. The population of the West lives in more "hothouse", comfortable, but much more limited conditions. State control, the credit system, education, all sorts of rules, laws and restrictions, propaganda, etc., all this makes Western personalities very dependent on the state, i.e. from the rulers. In Russia, in turn, the government lives in its own reality, and the people in their own, and the people have complete freedom of action and ways of their life. Nobody cares about you, and if you really want to achieve something, you will achieve it, since the conditions for this exist. You are limited only by your desires and capabilities, and coupled with a fairly good education system and a conditionally developed society, at the time of the beginning of "adult life", any resident of Russia has complete freedom of action. As far as I know, there is no such freedom in the West.

I think the man at 4:52 is the most interesting person in the video. I've been trying to figure him out. He grew up in the Soviet Union days and might have been a true believer. He probably really believed that the Soviet Union was the greatest nation and far superior to the West. Then 1991 comes along, and the Soviet Union dissolves. As a young working age man at the time, his life might have been thrown in chaos when all the certainties of Soviet life that he was expecting to continue forever, ended. I'm guessing the last 30 years weren't an easy time for him and believing Putin's vision of Russia gives him some kind of comfort.

I think he is a homophobic male who grew up in a time where homosexuals were shunned and is scarred by the acceptance of them. I live in Canada and grew up just before homosexuality became acceptable. When it first was changing you would see a lot of the older men talk like this who seem to feel threatened by the thought of it being normal. Later on the loudest of the protesters seemed to be the ones who came out of the closet. In all the videos in this channel, I have perceived one common thing. Everyone seems to be aware that "they" are going to be listening. This channel is really good. I am trying to understand the Russian mentality, because my girlfriend is Russian, and I am having a very hard time understanding the whole russian invasion of Ucrania. She said that I don't know enough, and that is why I don't get it. And I say Russia is a brainwashed + controlled by fear country. In this channel I am seen that is more controlled by fear, rather than brainwashed... Although the guy that claims Russia is the only democratic country is not only brainwashed... Russians can mix truth with cliche in an extremely honest way. After living under communism for a pretty long time our people began to dissacosiate themselves from Western Europe, its standards of living, societal norms/freedoms etc. In Russian social conscience Russia is not part of Europe, but rather a stand-alone country in-between Russia and Asia, hence, different mentality, values, social norms etc. Let's be honest, Western Europe never wanted or admitted Russia being a part of Europe. it has less to do with age and more to do with where the person lives. In bigger cities like Moscow and St Petersburg, older and younger people alike are more likely to be aware of the outside world while people living in smaller more poor areas (villages and towns) are less educated and more easily brainwashed and therefore more willing to follow whatever their leaders say. Unfortunately there are a lot more people living in those areas in Russia than outside of them. Some older folks in Russia don't even know what democracy is. Or freedom of speech. They can't even understand that in democratic country you can say in public what ever you want about your political leaders and their actions. Or you can have any religious, political or sexual identity and nobody cares. Or you can have big business without being a puppet of political leaders and nobody steals your business. Or political opposition can (and often does) rise to power with elections. They just don't get it. They speak loudly about fascism in other countries but they don't understand even meaning of that word. Russia has every fascistic element in it's politics. They hound sexual minorities, they put opposition in prison or assassinate them, they murder dissidents, they murder journalists, they attack their neighbours and make fancy delusional narratives about them, state has every media under it's command, justice system is fully under the control of political leaders etc. All those elements were typical in the Nazi-Germany and they still exists in all dictatorships. Well democracy allways wins dictatorships because when there appeare bad politics in democracy so citizens will vote somebody who makes changes. In dictatorship it will be the same shit over and over again until the end comes. It has been so even with ancient civilizations. Athens and Rome rised superior powers with proto-democracy of free men but both countries turned to oligarchy and kleptocracy and that was the beginning of their end.

Actually it is easy mocking russians for such opinions, but the reality is - most russians literally dont know what democracy is. Most russians either think about democracy as 90s in russia - which means chaos, so authoritarian is better, or the another group thinks that democracy means electing the leaders etc... We can talk about flawed democracies like hungary, turkey etc... or even ukraine. But most russians i have met dont understand that concept of flawed democracy, they literally have no idea what it means. If you elect your leaders, then it is democracy - that is how the smarter ones see democracy (because the stupid ones see democracy as a dirty word describing russia in 90s or american ghettos). You have to understand that they have never been exposed to democracy. Like NEVER in the history. They teach very little about this concept in russian schools, and most have no experience with democracy even if they live abroad, if they are not local citizens they do not participate in democratic process therefore they dont play a role in local politics. And of course russians who have never been abroad never even seen democratic society. What they had till this day since the beginning of times is sort of monarchy. The first real political system implemented in russia was by mongolian empire and since then it is basically the same system with few tweaks here and there, with no major change. This system was already outdated in 1800 but they just keep it that way. Russia can not change until society changes and society can not change, because they dont want to. They dont compare themselves with western europe, or japan, or china or us etc... they honestly believe that they can do better and they will outperform the rest of the world. So they do not take inspiration from abroad, they are just trying to modify their mongolian system which can not be modified to such degree to be successful in modern world. And for all the struggle they have to blame an outside enemy, therefore they cant admit their problems, therefore there is no chance for improvement, if you literally do believe that you have the best system in the world and therefore every problem in your society must come from abroad.

I don't think the Russian Federation is currently all that totalitarian. That word is generally used for places where the state has "total" control over society and it's peoples lives. North Korea is held up as one of the most totalitarian states today because of how tightly it controls how people act, dress, talk or even think. The Russian Federation definitely is authoritarian. Leaders exercise authority without much regard for the rule or law or the rights of citizens. And, of course, Putin now has unlimited powers over the state. But the control over the everyday lives of Russians is a still limited. The new rules on speech are a step towards totalitarianism, but even now there is only a crack down on highly public anti-government/anti-war speech. In general people still feel free to talk openly with family and friends (and even some youtubers apparently) You don't have a system like in North Korea where everyone is expected to spy on their neighbors and make accusations of anti-governmental behavior at weekly meetings.

@@ezrabrownstein3237 Yeah, Putin for a very long time was fairly subtle in his tactics. There weren't explicit laws against political speech, or opposition parties, or opposition media. These things were all allowed to exist to some degree in Russian society. But the Kremlin would use tactics to throttle them down. The major broadcasters were taken over, at a certain level of popularity opposition leaders would end up dead or in prison. Journalists looking into the wrong things would likewise end up dead. The cumulative effect was a slow and steady march towards dictatorship, without the government ever having to take draconian actions against public at large.

I don't think he really understands what democracy is. It sounds as if he thinks it's something else. The idea that it benefits the life of the common person in society to split governmental power between an executive, a legislature and an independent judiciary, and for the executive/legislature to be voted into power in elections all adults in the country can freely vote in on a regular basis - I don't think that's what he thinks of when he thinks of democracy as a concept. He comes across as if he thinks democracy means "people should act properly, and those who don't want to should be made to for the good of everyone else, because that's what it means for the people to have power" or something like that.
