Yea, I love the looks here ... 9:19, 9:31, 10:47 ... the hair is soft and voluminous ... may be a bit of the 80s, but hey, I am a gal from that era, and I still loooove those styles. I actually think that the contemporary super-defined curl pattern looks too harsh. But hey, to each our own, right?! 😉
@dela26123 жыл бұрын
@@ExtraordinaryLiving I used to style my hair like the "do's" section but I never had the volume I wanted, my curl clumps turned out too big and crunchy and it was way too much work to use different products and section the hair like that, only to have to do it all over again 4-5 days later. Nowadays I just apply some gel like she did in the don'ts section, scrunch it with a microfiber towel and dry it with the diffuser as she did in the don'ts. I now get soft hair with the balance of volume and definition that I like and it's half the work!
@weatherviewer3 жыл бұрын
@@ExtraordinaryLiving I agree! Especially since my hair is very thin, when it's too defined it looks too thin. Gotta plump up the volume a bit and sacrifice some definition!

OMG, I feel you on the "professional" hairdresser just destroying your curls to give them more "volume". The worst is how expensive the whole thing turns out to be. Not every hair salon knows how to deal with curls, a lot of them find it "weird" that I refuse to blow-dry it because I don't want straight hair. That's when you realize they don't know how to style curly hair. It's annoying, they won't be honest about not knowing but they will for sure charge you a ridiculous amount of money for the disaster they did. I'd happily send your video to a lot of them 😂 You're a lifesaver!

Then, I went to a stylist who encouraged me to embrace what I thought was just enough wave to keep my hair always messy. I didn’t realize that I had actual curl until I got a layered scrunch and go cut, which gave great volume to my thinning hair. My curls always look wonderful when I leave the salon, but I could never get it to look like my stylist. I didn’t realize that I was causing my messy frizz by doing so much wrong, Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

@alysha21624 ай бұрын
There are a few things you can do. You can try putting your hair in a “pineapple” bun (a loose bun on top of your head with the ends of the curls left loose), tucking your hair into a silk or satin bonnet, or using small clips to pin your hair up on top of your head to sleep. There are many KZbin videos on the topic of protecting your curls when you sleep. Try what appeals to you and see what works best. Hope that helps!

I really enjoyed this. I have tons of fine hair that I always thought was straight but just had weird bends & flips at the ends, baby hairs that would stick up around my face & ears & would get really fluffy when I blow dried. About 10-15 years ago I found out by fluke that if I scrunched my hair when it was wet, I'd get these 'S' waves & even some loose ringlets. I tried mousses, gels, creams, sprays, oils... everything under the sun, but could never get a single one of them to hold the curls and waves when it was dry without a crunchy flaky greasy heavy mess, so I gave up. At 43 I'm researching & learning things so I can try again with success, hopefully. I'm going to try the L.U.S. Brand's Love Ur Curls 3 step and try some of the techniques you've mentioned here because the results I'm seeing online with that system are incredible & these do's & don'ts will definitely help! One other tip I heard somewhere was to turn the power off on the blow dryer/duffuser before you pull it off the section of hair you're diffusing, place it on a different spot, turn it on and hold, turn it off and move etc. I read that it really reduces frizz caused by the air blowing the curls around as you're moving the diffuser. I have a question about gel cast... Once you crunch it up doesn't it leave white flaky bits all over your hair? That's what's happened to me every single time I've tried Gel and sometimes even mousse for that matter. Anyway, thanks for sharing this. Your hair is Fab!

That was funny and informative! I'm 65 and air dry my hair and have been 'aerating' it with my fingers as it dries. Now I know that is a 'no no.' I am so 'natural' that I don't like using a hair drier with a diffuser. The few times I did I also did that thing of 'shaking my fingers through my hair to see what was still wet and what areas needed more drying....My hair ALWAYS looks way wild...but I also sort of like this look...but it is nice to know I can have a more 'organized' and 'defined' curl look by not doing my usual routines! of 'finger fluffing!' Also, I DO Use a huge, heavy thick towel if my hair isn't dry enough after I use product...Didn't realize that too is a 'no no!' Thanks for the tips! I actually think your hair looks nice both ways! But I am a bohemian style person!

I normally just saw my wear my hair up, but I’m trying to learn to style my hair. Thanks for the great tips, I’m definitely guilty of some of those, lol.

What about air drying with an air dry cream? I have very naturally curly hair just to my shoulders with long layers.

my hair suddenly turned curly once growing back since it went short and its been crazy afro frizzy, my dad said I look like Ken Dodd. And I only just realised that I need to start looking after the curls more, that I wasn't frizzy haired but infact curly haired! Thank you for helping me with the basics.

So glad I found this video as I keep ending up with lots of volume and look like I’ve been electrocuted afterwards. Great tips which I’ll use from now on. Lifesaver!

I have very similar hair to you, I have fine 2c-3a hair and I use the pattern 9 row styling brush similar to the Denman brush, I love it my curls look beautiful but I feel like the brush pulls my roots and stretches them out and leaves me with no volume, would you suggest trying the denmen 7 row for looser curls?

Can you do a video on how to do your hair tomorrow and the next day? I’m not sure how to do it when I wake up with a mess. How do I get it looking good again?

This was the best video ever I learned more in this video than I have in the hundreds I have watched. I hated my naturally curly hair and straightened it for 20 years and caused so much damage to my hair. Then I said one day I am just going to embrace my curtly hair and love how I was made so started following a group on fb and tried cgm. There is some that I go by but the cowash and all that I just can't do. I have to wash my hair lol. I did start washing a lot less and went from daily to 1-2× a week. But ty for making these videos and educating ppl such as me. And by the way your curls are freakin amazing. 😍
