We did this in the 60’s before we went to the beach. Some magazine said we would get more natural lighting (and damage) from our Sun-In if we had curls. And yes, lightner and gel turned to a goopy mess in the sun. Great memories though. Thanks for the updated version.

Hi Gabi Greetings from the UK. Just wanted to let you know that Ive tried this technique twice so far and it DEFINITELY works on my wavy hair texture too. Im so impressed with the results. For reference I have thick, frizzy dense wavy 2B hair. My waves naturally are wonky and unstructured I watched the technique from your video about 3 times to make sure . Your instructions and guidance were so clearly explained I couldnt really go wrong. Made sure I did this on soaking wet hair that was well lubricated with a leave in conditioner plus a hair oil. ( my hair type benefits from lots of moisture). The only thing I did differently was to glaze the curls with a curl creme gel AFTER I had formed them with the Denman. Takes me about 20 mins to do on carefully sectioned hair then 15 mins to hover diffuse. I let it air dry the rest of the way. Has worked so well for me. My hair looks so defined. Many many thanks. Your channel is so good and you have a very relatable style with relevant content for all us wavies whether we choose to smooth and straighten or embrace the wavy texture. So helpful. Keep up the good work Gabi and thanks again. 💕

I have a combo of wavy and some curly areas. My hair is fine with thin/ low density. I have definitely found if I dry or even scrunch style upside down my hair gets frizzy and definitely messes up my curl pattern. I can scrunch when applying products but have to redo the back where I have cowlick. I also do better with a gel after leave in conditioner in terms of hold and anti-humidity. The new Verb Foam Gel works pretty well for me. I also like the Tre Luxe line. For heavy duty anti humidity hold Ouidad Anti humidity gel. All these need to be scrunched out with a lightweight hair oil unless you like the hard cast feel and look.
@surrendertoflow782 жыл бұрын
I keep seeing the Denman used like this in videos but I found the Scrunch It brush WAY easier than the Denman to create serious coils that last for days (with gel and diffusing) in my naturally wavy hair. The Scrunch It is actually designed to make coils so it’s less awkward and more effective than Denman for that purpose. I seriously don’t understand why everyone isn’t using/talking about the Scrunch It brush because it was a game changer for me! My Denman went into storage as soon as I got the Scrunch It brush! You should check it out and tell people about it! (I’m not an influencer so no one would care what I say, lol)

Said it before, and just for reference say it again. We are hair twins. Same fine hair medium density wavy hair. Although some of my strands are curly, some are straight, most are wavy and gets frizz and humidity will reverse a perfect blow out. When my hair was long I would twist it and let it air dry into beachy waves. My hair really grew a lot during the summer so recently started to let it air dry again. I now use a leave-in curl conditioner and finger twist my locks into ringlets. Looks great the first day. Second day has a lot of body with a big wave and still like it. Will have to try the Denman technique to see if the curl has more lasting power.

I tried with a vent brush and got the same effect. My hair is fine though, so can't say it'll work for everyone. I'm not into Shirley Temple ringlets so when my hair is dry I carefully separate them. I can't wait to use my brush upside down! Didn't think of that. Thanks!
@buddyholly46722 жыл бұрын
My aunts used to do this to our hair when we were kids just using a comb and letting it air dry without product. I dont think you need a fancy denman brush. I started doing this in the spring just using my hands. I would get nice big loose curls that were shiny and not frizzy. But i guess it depends on your hair
@GlamGirlGabi2 жыл бұрын
Yes you’re absolutely right. The Denman is trending right now so I used that brush to show the technique but the key point in this entire video is that you need to smooth the hair and coil it around something. I use my Denman brush with the handle facing down. Section hair from ear to ear, and pile on top of head, twirl the bottom sections of hair - in the bristles - and slowly pull the brush out of your hair (going toward your waist). Take the hair from the top of your head, and twirl sections of hair around the bristles of the brush, twirling downward until you have a head of spirals. Let air dry..then run run fingers through to loosen the spirals.

I would not say this is "a new, different way". I remember my mom had a similar brush and she would twist her hair around it. I remember trying to do it and getting my hair wrapped all around that orange and white brush lol. Also, waves are curls. If they weren't curls, you wouldn't get a spiral curl when you style the hair without heat.

I think the reason it works so well with Denman is that the ventilated plastic bristles brushes and smooths the hair into the perfect ribbon for curling onto the handle.
