I canNOT believe you got results like that from a brush! I am in total awe (in a good way)! My hairstylist actually gave me this brush and I was thinking “Ummm okay a brush…So what?” NOW I GET IT. Is this true enlightenment??? The secret of life??? Why has NO ONE ever told me this??? I had no idea that you can still brush your wavy/curly hair AND actually use the brush to HELP THE WAVES AND CURLS?! 🤯🤯🤯 Sorry, at almost 36 years old I am FINALLY beginning to learn what to do with this curly and wavy situation on my head. Thank you!!! I am washing my hair in the morning and will definitely use your tips as a guide and see how it turns out. I bought a fake denman brush from Target and have loved it because it smooths down so much of my frizz. I tried going back to my old way of styling and saw a huge difference in frizz. Eventually I’ll invest in the real thing eventually. I’m really excited about the horizontal styling because I feel like I’ve been fighting against my curls and think that doing it horizontally could help that. Love this video!

I know your comment is three years old, but did you happen to get the Cantu brush? I just discovered this type of styling, but I'm hesitant to buy a $25 hairbrush and was looking at the Cantu brush at Target as an alternative. If so, do you still use it? Any updated thoughts?

I use 2 different techniques on my hair with my Denman. My underneath layers are a much looser pattern so I spiral the sections down the brush to encourage curl formation. The top half of my head I do the ribbon curls because it doesn’t need as much help to keep its shape.

The trick is to use a detangling brush and a little bit of leave in conditioner before you use the denman brush -- really detangle your hair first. Also, if you're using one of the coiling techniques where you twist your hair around the brush, you have to make sure that only one section of your hair is inside the actual brush bristles. Don't double wrap in the bristle part.

I struggle so much with that Denman brush.. my hair is like your pattern..all sorts of curls that go in all different directions and I don't want to brush beat them into submission, but nurture them..let them be their own individual curl baby. I love the horizontal style, that makes sense because every day is different and that looks like it just lets the curl do it's thing! :-) Now if only I had the patience and the arm strength to do small sections like that I would be a regular goldy locks! Food for thought on what I was doing wrong with my Denman! 🙏 for all the different techniques 🙏🙏🙏 The main reason my Denman is covered in dust in my bathroom is the fact that I would get a tremendous amount of root frizz (I mean, how is that even possible on almost-sopping-wet hair?!?) when trying to use the brush, as close to the roots as possible. The clumps would turn out fine but root frizz 🙄🙈 Any ideas on how to solve that?
@TheFitCurls3 жыл бұрын
I’d say maybe your product didn’t make it all the way up to the root! It helps to use the brush to gently and gradually bring the product from the ends up to the roots before using it to style. I never get root frizz that way!
