It is very important as a makeup artists to be prepared and feel confident to do makeup on clients with all types of skin conditions. You are not always going to have that client with "perfect skin". I have had people do my makeup who completely do not know how to apply makeup on my skin, and it was a disaster doing trials for my own my own wedding. I ended up doing the foundation myself because everyone made me look worse. You can set yourself apart from other makeup artists if you know what to do when these situations come up. Like I said in my video, you can't hide them completely but you can make them not so noticeable and you can make your client feel at ease that you know what you are doing with their particular skin. The lighting in this video makes it a little hard to see my scarring, but I have it pretty bad on my cheeks.

@@chelseagiachello4367 there are several health conditions that can cause cystic acne which of course leads to scarring but there are also other health conditions that can lead to different types of acne that is something called fungal acne. Diabetes for one lowers the immune system and opens you up for opportunistic infections what can cause Breakout. People with diabetes can also have skin problems that pretty much go under the umbrella called diabetic dermopathy which can be just about any skin condition caused by the hormonal imbalance have insulin in the body because you know insulin is a hormone. Some people have undiagnosed lupus and there is a skin condition called discoid lupus which looks a lot like cystic acne and causes scarring. There is a test for Lupus it's called an a n a. Some people test negative for years and so they go undiagnosed. From what I've read about acne is that usually there is an underlying medical condition that's causing it. When my sugar is got under control skin conditions really improved. Just about any metabolic disturbance that affects her hormones is also going to affect your skin so it's worth getting some testing if you can to see if you have anything that might be causing skin disturbances for you. @@chelseagiachello4367 I also meant to tell you there is a KZbinr I think it's the girl with the curls or that girl with the curls. She had case of acne and after several years of struggling with dermatologist she got her blood work done and it did reveal very high blood sugars and after she got her sugar under control it really help to clear her skin but she had no idea all those years that she had an issue with her blood sugar. That is why diabetes is called the sneaky disease. You can have it and not know it. Most people don't want to get diagnosed with diabetes because they fear that they will be uninsurable after that or have difficulty getting life insurance and so on. What I did was I went to Walmart and I got a blood sugar checker kit at the strips and everything cost around $30 total and I took my blood sugar 4 times a day for two weeks and it did reveal elevated blood sugar so from that I was able to control sugar with my diet and it helped immensely and I didn't have to get diagnosed with diabetes for quite some time. I did eventually have to get on medication but if high blood sugars are an issue for someone the more you can do for yourself without having to get on medication the better

I tried chemical peels and laser and nicroneedling for years truth is nothing is going to fill up holes and skin depression. People will try to tell you otherwise and take your money but you're better off accepting your fate really. Makeups never worked for me personally it just sinks into the holes and make them for obvious once in daylight.

Yeah for sure. I did Microneedling years ago and it never helped. Even the very expensive laser treatments arent a garentee to help and usually just gives a small improvement. Makeup definitely isn't going to hide it as I always state in my videos but there are definitely ways to help not accentuate them! I've had my makeup done by very good artists that never did makeup on someone with pitted scarring and it looks so much worse than when I would do it myself! Hopefully something will come out some day that actually works!

@@chelseagiachello4367 the only thing able to help is subcision basically when you heal sometimes the inflammatory response etc will pull down the skin to the deeper layer of your epidermolysis and it causes holes and skin depression to appear so they take a needle and force the skin to detach from that lawyer it's pulling on to which makes the skin get raised up again and your scars to diminish sometimes disappear but it's expensive and only a handful dermatologist are good at it and someone that isn't an expert will cause your scarring to be my prominent and it's a relatively new technique so it's not something most specialists have mastered unfortunate. Besides if you look at video on KZbin it looks scary as hell

@@Zinebbazis yes exaclty!! Dr Ben Johnson creator of Osmosis skincare explains all thia as well! He says chemical peels/microneedling pretty much anything harsh to the skin is damaging it long term. Your skin only builds collagen to heal the areas you just damaged😬 I wish I never did any of it but Im glad I learned about it sooner than later!

I'm not sure anymore, but with pitted acne scars on my face and a person with skin condition of combination leaning towards a little bit drier side and prone to hyperpigmentation and I think I am light neutral-warm-golden olive which would also be tanned so easily, had really good experience on using 100 Percent Pure Luminous Primer (with subtle light beautiful light golden very fine shimmers in it) and also 100 Percent Pure 2nd Skin Foundation in Peach Bisque shade (shade 4) plus Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray when I was in lighter skintone, I think I had like best makeup ever in my whole life, even my convocation photo looks unrealistically real and almost flawless! Quite a number of my college friends had asked me about my makeup 'Did you do it yourself or hired a professional?' I just apply the luminous primer with fingers and the foundation with those common cheap Watson compact sponge =D

Thank you so much! I have not noticed any difference when using a pore filling primer, my scars are pretty deep. They are always silicone based and I dont like the way my makeup sits on top as well. But If you want to see how it works for your skin type I would suggest start with a sample of one at Sephora just to see how you feel about it! Let me know! :)

After a perfect base, as soon as I used a matte blush n brozer and it made my icepick scar visible. How do I fix that? My skin looked so dead and dry even though I have super oily skin.

Did you use a foundation powder over your liquid foundation in those areas before you applied the bronzer/blush? That usually helps me but of course to some degree you can still see the uneven skin. I have oily skin as well, usually when I apply a ton of matte products it does feel drying at first but usually within an hour my oils will start to mix in with my makeup a little bit and actually look better throughout the day. You can also spray a hydrating spray at the end of your makeup or even inbetween each step if it feels really dry.

@@ayshemirza i just find when I set my face with setting powder and then do my bronzer my pitted scars look darker. So I started usung a powder with coverage over my liquid foundation just on my cheeks and it seems to work better. Hope it works for you !

@@xo3086 Beffore the blush or bronzer. After you do your liquid or cream foundation you set it with powder, I only use the foundation powder on the areas with my scarring. And I use light dusting of setting powders on the other areas of my face like under eyes etc. Then you would finish with your other powders like blush, bronzer, powder highlight etc. Does that make sense?

Matte foundations are a big no no if you have deep scars. It makes them look so much worse and dries them out. Even powdering my scarred areas makes them look even more noticeable

I dont believe Matte makes it look better or worse, it depends on your skin type. Im combo skin and I Usually use a semi matte foundation. If the foundation is too moisturizing it couod make it look wrose by being too shiny and reflective.

Acne scar queen here. My go to is Coty Airspun Powder. It’s a powder from the 1920s that smells like little old lady perfume, but works great on my acne scars and feels light. I also recommend The Crème Shop blush. Seems to sit on top of my scars!

Bare Minerals I had Severe Acne tried Doxycycline, It went away came of the medicine it came back bad! Hi Rupa, The Flawless filter is more of a foundation enhancer, not a foundation on its own. Its a glow booster that can be mixed with foundation or underneath. It will probably bring more attention to your scars if its too shimmery. Charlotte T has a couple other Matte foundations that would work. One being the Airbrush flawless foundation! Hi mama if you like to wear makeup don’t worry foundation will not make your scarring/acne worse unless you are allergic to it. Make sure to know what ingredients are in your makeup:) just make sure to buy a good cleansing balm (good molecules has one that is amazing!!) to melt the makeup off your face and follow with a cleanser that is made to remove makeup/dirt. Invest in some good snail cream to moisturize and repair the skin after cleansing your face. Mizon snail cream is great! I hope this helps

Hi, depending on the color of the scar, its usally a dark shadowing so you can brighten it up with a lighter shade to make it appear more foward, but only applying that light shade in the deepest areas . Only if you notice the scar has a hint of a different color you can try to color correct accordingly.

I have pitted acne scars all over my cheeks. My skin has shifted from oily to dry in the recent months but I find that after applying makeup my skin does get oily. Is there a primer you recommend or should I simply skip primer and apply foundation right after skin care? Also adding a powder foundation on top of the liquid won't make it look cakey? How about using a tinted setting powder like the one by milk makeup or maybelline fit me?

Hi Brenda, Im not a big primer person, especially silicone based ones. I find that the makeup doesnt last as long. If I do use a primer I would go with something with more of a tacky consistency so the makeup sticks better. If not you can also use an oil control setting spray under your foundation. You can pat it in the areas you get oily. As far as the powder, I never get cakey because I use such a thin layer of foundation and I only add more thin layers where I need the more coverage. People use way to much foundation and its not necessary in most cases. I only use full coverage foundation in my kit but I can thin it out as much as I need to so it doesnt get cakey. I haven't tried the tinted fit me powder but that might work since there is some color to it! Please let me know if it does, I would love to try that too! Hope I answered yout questions!

You can try dermaflage, its a scar and winkle filler. You can find it online at dermstore.com Makeup doesnt sit well on top of it, Which is why I didn't mention it in my video. But if you didnt want to wear makeup that might be a good option for you.

Hi Sabeena, I have done microneedling 3 times and hasnt helped me 😪. I havent tried the LA girl concealers but no concealer or makeup in that manner can hide pitted acne scars unfortunately 😢 all we can do is try to not make them appear not so noticeable.

As a medical Aesthetician I don't recommend to use brushes and tap on the skin, it really enlarge the pores and expand the scars even more.

From so many years of experience doing my makeup a brush definitely doesn't enlarge my pores, Ive applied makeup in everyway and brushes work best for me and my clients. But I appreciate your advice! :)
