Personally, I think both parties in the relationship need to be financially independent (personal inflows should be more than outflows), so that there will not be an imbalance of power dynamics in the relationship. There also has to be open and honest communication between both individuals regarding their finances especially in a long-term, committed relationship. Just as we appreciate transparency in our leadership and in companies, what more our significant other?

For a married couple, there should be a combined household fund and each spouse keep individual expenditure separate. I'm a guy and if my spouse earns more than me, all the better. With my current choice of career and progression, it will be tough to breach 4K until retirement (I'm 44 and my last job paid

Hi MOSG, thanks for the video. It would be helpful if you could add subtitles at some points e.g. the salary they earn

Probably not. There was a yahoo article released recently which showed how majority of Singaporean women are unwilling to date a guy who earns less. Article: 'Less Singapore women willing to date men who earn less: Lunch Actually survey'

Some relationships start off on similar pay grades but over the years the girl just performs very well and suddenly is earning wayyyy more than the husband. There is a lady who use to work a simple office job, but she quit to start her own business. Suddenly the business was doing extremely well the husband even quit to join her. Not sure if there is a power struggle but they do seem very happy indeed. I do at times wonder how the husband feels though ... given the male ego thing.

Majority of the women in the world wouldn’t date a less capable man than themselves. It is just biology

Its easy to have a knee-jerk reaction to the word "ego", but ego is nurture, not nature. With women today having more opportunities than ever to build a career, while we are teaching young women that they can be independent and dominant, maybe we should also teach young men that they don't need to be the providers/protectors of everything anymore and stop expecting them to provide for everything.

Lol. Simps made it the norm for guys to provide for women regardless of what they bring to the table. I say you should expect the same in return. If a guy have financial expectations of a woman, the conversation would be a lot different innit?

Well, I retired in my mid-30s after working very very hard. Decent paying job, and putting away my savings in blue-chip stocks (no Bitcoin or those rubbish). I always considered that having a partner is a considerable risk factor in achieving that, since in our Asian culture, women may well expect financial support from me.

But then again, probably my lifestyle doesn't suit everybody since it is so entirely focused around achieving financial independence, which can be quite a unhealthy obsession in some people.

Never had I ever successfully dated a Sgrean lady who on her own 'perceives' her success/career/wealth is above me (Lookable ones). Women date up, rarely down. Skin colour plays a part too

Aiyah nowadays young people how many are truly successful and can earn a lot. You see all those young nicely dress office lady but how much is she taking back every month ? 4k ? 😂😂 And also for guys how much can they make too. The really 拼死拼活 and really filthy rich ones won't chap you. And also one thing is I always see those influencer especially those female ones take yacht etc but is the money really theirs ? I bet is either her family is rich or the boyfriend/husband is rich. I really wonder their true profession.

Men of equivalent age and social class still earn more than women in Singapore. Pretty much a non issue.
