One little tidbit of info is that this song was originally titled Uptown Girls as at the time he was surrounded by ladies like Christy Brinkley, Whitney Houston and his at the time girlfriend Elle MacPherson. The song was written initially to be about his then relationship with MacPherson but then also became about his soon to be marriage to Brinkley. And NO unlike what people are saying in comments Brinkley was NOT Billy Joel's wife at the time of this video. At the time he was dating Elle MacPherson, another supermodel. This song and video came out in 1983 and Brinkly and Joel got married in 1985.

This song was a love letter/tribute to the music style of Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons. Frankie Valli actually sang the theme song to Grease in the movie. Supermodel, Christie Brinkley, went onto to have a small cameo as a "mystery blonde" in the 1983 comedy movie "National Lampoon's Vacation". Boyband, Westlife, covered Uptown Girl in 2001.

My favorite Billy songs are completely different in style. The Old Grey Whistle Test of "NY State of Mind" is a showcase of his piano skills and voice, with a full band and an amazing sax solo. In the song "And So It Goes" it's stripped down, just Billy and his piano on a bare stage, spilling his heart out.

This is from one of Billy’s best albums if not the best for the variety of music as he used it to do take offs on other musical groups. This one was a version produced in the manner of “The Four Seasons with Frankie Valli“. They were very popular in the 60s and 70s and preceded the Beatles. Billy had just come off of dating Elle Macpherson and was with Christie. According to him he started writing the song before he married Christie and it was called “uptown girls”. Of course Christie Brinkley was a supermodel and his wife at the time. It’s incredible how she looks at 70.

She had to join SAG after her appearance in National Lampoon's Vacation) ... Christy …. In 80s fashion! This was how we dressed, Friday nights at the dance clubs. Little dress, matching pumps, black hose, clutch purse. I’m not a hat girl. This album, Billy said, was inspired by the sounds of the Early Sixties, and Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons in particular. The vocal harmonies were definitely inspired by Frankie Valli. He had about a dozen huge hits back in the early Sixties and had a hit on the Grease soundtrack, "Grease is the Word" and that's why you're reminded of Grease. Because that's exactly what this video is trying to reference.
