I'm hoping to end the rat race by 60, I’m 52, $600K net worth. Money is a liability, not an asset. You have to exchange it for assets that represent real value. Real estate - properties for rent. Stocks (dividends). Bonds (interest), funds, REITs (interest) So, what is it with Gold?

People used to think of gold as just a shiny metal, but now it's seen as a powerhouse asset that can weather any storm. Whether it's economic uncertainty, inflation fears, or geopolitical tensions, gold stands strong and shines bright. It's like the ultimate insurance policy for your portfolio, offering stability and security in turbulent times.

But the inflation is such a headache, isn't it? Even though gold is seen as a safe haven, it's not totally immune to the effects of inflation. When prices start creeping up, it can definitely impact the price of gold and throw a wrench into people's financial plans.

The capitalist system rewards risking your capital for later return. Some capital is $$, some capital is skills/intelligence/creativity/talent. You put it in the free market place for hopefully a positive return on you risking your assets/capital. It is dispassionate, the fairest and neutral economic system until cronyism whether government or corporate screw with it. I would posit that 97% of the time with careful investment of your time/energy/capital you will have a positive return.

I really appreciate this guy sometimes we get caight up in the rat race or what others do we forget when we invest in oursleves small biz rental units its a slow growth it may not be sexy or flashy but yet we are more in control of our financmes and lifestyle this way! So many folks work 60-90 hrs a week OT and w2 gets taxed so hard !! So yeah gross they may "make" 150k but how nuch they actually bring home after all those hours the math actually doesnt math! I may be crazy but making "less" but having so much time freedom to me makes more sense plus the Feds squandered the money due to corruption and greed 🤦‍♂️

After watching Caleb Hammer I feel a lot of this crisses is just people being lazy. People on their literally in debt and making an decision to have three kids, or to go to a dealer and buy the most expensive new car, or to blow money on fast food than meal prep. Like if you do that then you would save so much money and then could put money into a Roth if your employer does not offer a retirement plan. Millennial are screwed cause they don't have them cause yes stuff is more expensive, but consumer habits lead to debt. Now I understand people's backgrounds affect it, but when families come to this country with zero to their name and hustle to middle class, Americans need to step up.

I'm gonna be honest, while it would be REALLY cool to not work the last 15-20 years of my life, I actually do not support retirement for the masses. You should only be retiring from work if your grand children are set for a comfortable life. For centuries, upon centuries, humans only stopped working if they no longer could. I truly believe the retirement system has created uneducated people who dream of being lazy. If you can not understand there will always be outliers(in this case, there are in fact, people who have worked hard and intelligently in order to retire) I look forward to the "but" "what if" "well" and "deserve" comments.

What if you have six figures student loan debt and can't work?
@plum_colored_dahlia
@plum_colored_dahlia 5 ай бұрын
If you can’t work due to an ongoing (often termed permanent) disability you may qualify for loan forgiveness - more so if they were government backed loans and less likely if they were privately funded. You don’t need a special loan forgiveness expert to help you with this although some use a service. If you have enough of your bandwidth about you to do some research you can file your own documents and follow through with each of the steps. It can take a few years as there is a waiting period while seeing if you have a turn of events in health. It’s worth the effort. You won’t be able to get student loans again pretty much ever but that’s to be expected I’d conclude. Resuming work and paying off the debt is the goal of course if at all possible. Don’t go this route obviously if you have other ways to honor your obligations.
