Typical the Value Village Clerk would say: “That game doesn’t belong there” She would most likely re-price it and put it in the display case. I’ve noticed Value Village has gotten extremely aggressive with their prices lately. They’re catching on to the re-seller culture and pricing everything up.
@Jay-th3nt
@Jay-th3nt 3 жыл бұрын
I have commented on many resellers videos about this...I believe we should also blame smartphones. It is so easy for the pricer to Google the item, click on Google shoping tab, and get a quick glimpse of trending prices. The Amazon barcode scanner can also be to blame, plus the fluctuated prices on Amazon. I have also noticed everyday Facebook sellers, garage sales, from young to elderly people, using Google or eBay to research prices. All the yard sales I go to are not what they used to be because I expect $1-$5 at garage sales, people know their prices nowadays and are catching on to people just reselling instead of actually buying it for themselves

@@willyhoogs These thrift stores aren’t very knowledgeable is the thing. All they see is “oooh video game stuff” and price it high. My nearby goodwill had a fat PS2 in the display case for $50 with a label saying “not working” LOL. They’re just greedy and dumb.

@@wordivore Too bad....more than once I have checked out with items I found and they've said, "oh that was not supposed to be out on the floor" and taken it away from me at the register !! ? No, this was before I was a re-seller, never looked them up, in fact before we could with cell phones LOL - simply wanted it for my daughter. I was Mad LOL. They get these items donated so I don't have any sympathy for them in this situation. And occasionally I'll have a clerk say, "wow that should not be selling for that price" and actually pull it away at the checkout too...and I'm like what? then to make it ok they say, "Oh the tag was probably changed" and then I really get upset at that too. How dare you...and they say no, someone else probably changed it and then you found it but we can't sell it for that. Tag was clearly original price and a ridiculous claim. I would never do that, don't think it was ever changed...the person checking out just decided it was priced too cheap. SMH. I've paid up to $80 for worthy items so, yeah I totally resent them saying that. I also had an instance where they rang everything up and then gave back to me to put in my cart but conveniently forgot a "score" find, such as a north face backpack like new. I paid $25 for it...but after ringing up it was kept behind the counter. I did not notice until I got home. Did the clerk take it home? Innocent mistake? The manager gave me a refund since I did not get it, but it was an hour long drive for me back to the store, and the pack worth a lot more than that, I was going to keep for myself. I did shop again on return, but some days are just better than others of course. I don't know why some folks aren't just nice LOL I remember in a management class once, if you want nice employees, hire nice employees.
@wordivore
@wordivore 3 жыл бұрын
@@sumthingelsesumthingelse6811 Yeah I agree, "Too bad." That's why I typed LOL after. I thought it was funny that she was a little butt hurt. It's not like this stuff is the employees' personal stash and they are personally losing money. It's weird how mad they get. And for the employee to say that to Matt... Lol, I mean who wouldn't buy it once she said that? If I'd been thinking about putting it back before that, I'd certainly buy it after she said it. All that stuff that happend to you, that's f'd up. Not right at all. Again, they act like they have their own personal money to lose on it. It's pretty weird. And it sounds unethical. Around here, the thrift stores suck. I'm pretty sure they do their own ebay selling and maybe the employees do their own picking at the thrift shops around here. Idk. The only reason I go is to browse for something I may need that I want to get at a lower pric and even then that's rare.

That employee telling you it doesn't belong there kind of pisses me off. I've noticed my local savers pricing things way high over the past couple of years. They even have an entire aisle dedicated to "retro" and "vintage" stuff that they price insanely high. I'm talking vintage board games for $19.99 and up, anything Pokémon $24.99 and up. Vintage and retro toys same thing.
@victornavedo1649

This pandemic has made people start selling online, me included, but watching these videos to get knowledge on how to do things is great, but I have noticed my local Savers does have the highest prices for things I've seen in many years for donated items, they know what they are doing and I have noticed that years ago I could find great monopoly games both new and used but now nothing, strange huh, and fisher price toys were plenty, now nothing, strange huh, no comic books, sealed puzzles, dvd sets, rock records (only polka and country), nothing that we see in stores that may have resale value is actually priced to make any money except for Ken Alterman and his million dollar residence...me I'll keep checking out yard sales
@kyrstonavery5847

Nice work Matt, it's easy to be a full time picker in Seattle. I would find 1.5k-2k in profit in one day by traveling a route, hitting at least 10 stores and you can do that once a week or more. There are enough stores to do two full day routes. If you have a husband-wife team 100k a year profit is easily done and some people do that by themselves. That doesn't even count the outlet malls and stand alone factory outlet stores. And if you knew what you were doing 15 years ago before smart phones, and before many of the stores started raising their prices it was even easier. Nice of you to give that stuff away, you might have to make a road trip without the kids sometime.

Ah I live near Seattle area! Didn't see this until today though at March 11 evening and plus I don't do instagram...so missed out on your giveaway .Darn! I have never been to the thrift stores you went to either. If you come back you should check out these: Seattle Dearborn Goodwill (very big), Redmond Goodwill (near Bellevue) has some great items, Issaquah Value Village also lots of selection. We are fortunate to have a lot of stores up here but I feel rather high prices in many of them. You have to look hard to find those deals. How sweet of you to give those items away! I have seen the comments about looking items up. I feel that most pricers simply have too much inventory to be looking up prices unless they "know" something is good. Hope your family enjoyed Whidbey Island!
