You are so right i own a 2 bay shop in a small town and I have leaned nobody knows it all and I tell my customers on certain problems that come in to the shop that I have to do my homework on the problems and understand how it works in order to be able to fix it .if you don't know how something work you can't really know if you fixed it right and it took my a while to understand that .I'm not embarrassed that I don't know everything no one can thanks for the great videos Dave

As a 30 plus years as a heavy truck guy I can definitely confirm that ya it's always changing. But here is my 2 cents (and I want change back 🤣) Anyway people expect mechanics to know everything and if we have to refer back to the book ( ya I'm that old) what about microfish anyway ya we are expected to know everything. What about doctors. Do they know everything? No and that's why we have specialist because no single doctor can do it all. So why are we different? We need channels like this so the average person can see and understand what we go through. I definitely wouldn't change my career choice but I would change the bad rap we get from the imposter's making us all look bad. I really enjoy your content and glad I came across it recently. 👍🇨🇦🔧

the thing is, here in america people expectation is high, in middle east mechanic has more room, they do not do everything, if the guy just want to do brake job, he just do brake, just struts, they don't like to work on any cars and and any repairs

Hahahaha if anyone is working on cars to make "lots of money" they are dumb. But you are right lack of education/information is the #1 cause of "loading the parts cannon" and just seeing if replacing the part associated with a code fixes the problem. Less than 25% of the time you will pull a code, look it up and replace the part associated with the code and solve a problem. Unfortunately its actually very difficult to get actual (accurate) wiring diagrams or schematics and specifications on electronic parts off the internet. Without a factory service manual (expensive) or a monthly subscription to a automotive repair library (also very expensive) its difficult to trace and identify electrical issues. Typical "repair manuals" are junk they don't give you any worthwhile information. Hell even with all the information you need it can still be difficult and time consuming to find/fix electrical problems. Unfortunately since electrical issues are at least 50% of the problems you see while working on modern cars this can be frustrating for the mechanic and customer. With some knowledge you can make sure some electronic components are not totally fried but without the specs on voltage/resistance for that specific part its just an educated guess. The days of fixing most car problems with basic tools and a good mind for mechanical systems are gone.

in one of your recent videos you went out to a box truck with a no start. you tried to crank it over, it tried to crank but couldn't. you replaced the battery before testing anything to find out the engine was locked up either you practice what you preach or you are just another meme youtuber spamming general content to make money. gotta pick one man

yeah I did, and if you watch this video I am saying I don't want to exclude myself, I do mistake and I do learn every day, for that truck you are right I did replace the battery, but the main reason was that the car sat for a long time and battery was dead, at least i am no hiding anything, i say what show
