My account was banned 4 days ago. My Activision account was linked to a steam account. I logged on right away and changed everything. 4 hours later I was perma banned.. I tried to appeal and the told me its final. I am in my 50s never cheated. The support is the problem also. Its 2024 and they have the ability figure this out and revere the ban. They just do not care. I have years and hundreds of dollars in this game and they just don't care. The time stamp from linked steam account is 4 hours ahead of me. They can cleary see this and figure it out. They just do not care.

It's getting worse. I just got perma banned for absolutely no reason. I exclusively play zombies on PS5. My account is linked to my own Steam account because back in MW2 days I sometimes liked to play with mouse and keyboard. I have never cheated. My account wasn't hacked. Steam shows I last played on the computer in 2023. I suspect they are now just banning all console players with a linked Steam account. I appealed and got the generic form letter response telling me that they checked with security and confirmed I manipulated data. Ridiculous.

Activision notified me of suspicious activity on my account, 4 hours later I reset my password and they had already permanently banned me and are now telling me there was no suspicious activity, despite them telling me there was in the first place SMH

The shadowban issue primarily affects pc players. I spent the first 250 hrs of mw3 on ps5 or my series x. Have dropped plenty of high kill games, nukes, etc, never had an issue. I finally build a gaming pc and within 2 weeks of the same kind of performance I received my first shadowban. The fact that it’s dictated primarily on reports from salty players who genuinely can’t imagine that someone is much better than them without cheating is ridiculous.

This happened to me last month. Someone linked their steam account to my Activision account and I got banned. I appealed the ban and they declined my appeal. What I had to do was an account recovery request and there’s a text box where I explained that the steam account was unauthorized. A few days later the steam account was unlinked and I got my account back.

I got shadow banned in MW2 last year, it was a painful 2 and a half weeks… Which is why people who false report others should also get banned permanently, unless you’re absolutely sure and it’s clear as day that someone is hacking, you have no right to report anyone for anything other than hacking or harassment. I’m saying this because I had a few decent matches and had multiple people on the same day tell me that they’re reporting me and I was shadow banned literally the next day.

False reporting people won’t result in a shadow ban. You can false report someone all you want if Ricochet doesn’t detect anything on that account they wont get shadow banned.. you probably got shadow banned for other reason than mass reporting it.. you’ve got shadow banned for doing something you weren’t supposed to be doing

Exactly happened to me! Received the email from Activision too late and now I’m permanently banned because someone added their Battlenet account to my Activision account and cheated. They were 6 hours ahead of my time zone so obviously no one I know. Appealed and got denied, contacted support over a dozen times with no avail. Now what can I do? Seems like there was a HUGE security breach on THEIR end. I've been playing video games for close to 35 years now(Yeah I'm an old head). Played call of duty since it dropped, never hacked in my life. Like EVERYONE else here, randomly my account gets compromised somehow (I'm extremely careful with my information & data), and then linked to my steam account, next thing you know a random person is hacking on my account, and somehow I'm permanently banned? They obviously didn't take 30 seconds to check any of the IP addresses or MAC addresses that these new accounts linked to ours, because if they did obviously they'd see it WASNT US and would overturn the ban! I’ve been playing cod for almost 20 years. Until 2023 I played exclusively on console. This year I moved over to PC for the fps boost. Since the move I have been shadow banned 6 times. Call of duty is pretty much the only game I play and it’s ridiculous that I can’t enjoy this game due to people being salty and spam reporting. Each time I’m shadowed it’s lifted so cheating is off the table. At this point I’m so frustrated about this that I may give up on cod forever. Kind of wild that someone such as myself with a lengthy history and such an old account has to face this BS. You can resubscribe by going to call of duty’s website and logging into your account and going into your settings. You can also set up 2FA as well. Things like an account linking will still be sent to you as well if you aren’t subscribed to their marketing emails.

If your account has been hacked and you are no longer receiving emails from them, you can submit a ticket to activision and let them know the last known email attached to the account. They will have you set up a temporary account that they will move all your information to once the issue has been resolved.

2FA Is great if you have access to the email on the account. If you've lost access to that email there is NO WAY to change the email. So as a result I have an account that can be hacked because of the stupid rules that state you can't change your email if you can't access that email to get an email about changing your email. I don't do any form of manipulation for my lobbies and alot of the time I get mega sweat lobbies. I still hold down a 2kd in sweaty lobbies most of the time but when I get easy ones I usually have a 5-6kd. My 10 game average has consistently been around a 3kd since I got interstellar. My region is US, north east and I mostly play headquarters in the evening...

While I do agree with this for sure, I must admit I've had a lot of problems with my account ever since I activated 2FA. I completely lost the ability to log in to the Activision website more than once. Took a while and I had to speak with several people AND create two new email accounts, but I finally got it back. The problem is I have to enter a code EVERY SINGLE TIME I want to log in to the site. And once the 10 codes support gave me are used up, I have to go through the entire process again.

I'm on PC. my playstyle is basically I TRY to get reported. I run such a class setup to the point of i can basically always see through smoke with the engineer vest and the enhanced vision goggles on hardcore playlists. no kill cams and people are constantly shot accurately through smoke with a tac stance weapon XD.... I run advanced UAV and usually get 2-3 in one of those high kill games. People start leaving and messaging that I'm cheating and then next game I get kicked out, I check the website, and sure enough I'm shadow banned. Can play for about 3 days straight before I get banned for a week.

Do you have any idea how easy it is to get shadowbanned? Literally get 3 games in a row where you get advanced UAVs and watch what happens to you in the 4th game. You even get people who mass report you because they don't know how things like footsteps and ghost work.

Didn't get banned for abusing the new stacking killstreak feature with the new vest on ship; constant mortar strikes. It was patched to not include assists. Having the same password to every thing is quite a common vulnerability, best course of action is to make a pattern that you know for changing the password ever so slightly for every website

Using the same password on things is not a vulnerability. A vulnerability means these is something in the code and/or process that is vulnerable to a hack. Using the same password for things is a choice people make. Any capable security guy will tell you to never just "change the password ever so slightly". This is easily figured out in seconds for anyone half-capable. The only right way to do this is with a password manager like Laspass, Bitwarden, etc.... Always use a complex, different password it suggests. Never use a password less than 15 characters. Never write them down.

Wow bolt that was some bad advice. this a bad idea... people don't even know how to do it properly so it adds very little, if any extra security. Do what ruff says and get a password manager, you only need to remember one password and can have the password manager automatically generate and fill the password in for you. It takes a while for people to realize but using a password manager is actually easier/faster than not. Its only hard for the first 5 mins when you figure out how it works 🤣

Hpw do I get a passkey for 2FA? In 2020 my account was hacked, I reported and actually managed to get them to sort it and when I got my account back it had loadouts all changed and renamed so I know someone was definately using it. I can't figure out how to 2FA it though and I don't think I ever did it.

I had this in MW3.. but the strange thing is, i do have 2fa active but a BattleNet ID account got linked without my permission. I got banned and cannot get it of! They will not listen, they will not give me information about the login attempts etc. Activision is a no-go for me since this happend. I will never, never use activision again.

I have that..... Didn't help. There's only 2 ways my account got hacked. Activision was hacked or an employee at Activision is selling the info..... I have never played war zone a day in my life so if Activision did do the right thing and go back and look they would have seen I never played on a PC and I have never played warzone either. So what did I do wrong. In the appeal that they gave me said none of that matters, all that matters to them is that the cheating happened on my account. So weather I got hacked or they got hacked or it happened in a different state on a PC on a linked Steam account that is not in my name on a game that I have never played once is MY FAULT AND I HAVE TO PAY THE PRICE AND BE BANNED FOR LIFE. That's absolutely crazy talk what other company would act this way. And there is no customer phone number to speak of or any way to reach out to them..... Just a real shitty way to run a business.

At least 20+ shadow bans since mw2. Even after I take a break for several months, I'll get another one after a couple hours of play time. I only barely got finished with interstellar camo since shadowbanned lobbies don't exist in Australia. The queue times are anywhere from 6-12 hours for the game to finally accept a match above 250 ping.

The problem with Activision's 2FA is that it's buggy, and I've had friends that couldn't log in for extended periods of time exactly because of that. That is a major problem.

People getting repeat shadowbans should really ask themselves why at that point. If youre bringing your hyper-sweat gameplay to casual or objective based lobbies, you're going to standout like a sore thumb and people will likely assume you're cheating. On another note, I'd be interested to see if shadowbans decrease if they were to disable crossplay. They should test this for a 30 day period to see if theres any impact.

I moderate call of duty subreddits. The amount of people reporting false bans over the years is more than any other game I moderate for, but unfortunately people are too toxic and trusting of these systems so just respond with "that's what you get for cheating" This isn't just a recent issue, Activision's banning and shadow banning practices are so automated and lazy. They need to fix it.

Dont forget to mention.. in shadow u have limited modes u can find matches in and it takes a LONGG time to find a match. Basically u just cant play. Its tragic for the false shadows.

I believe to have let a comment before but I'll do again since the ban was magically removed. I changed my email to be able to play Warzone Mobile and somehow that also triggered the ban on my account. I wasn't hacked, or had anyone play for me. Just changed the email and a few weeks later was banned. This is the case for many others, keep that in mind as well.

This happened to me just last month. I submitted a request to have the account unlinked and for my account to be unbanned. I also submitted a request to the BBB as well. It took about a week to get my account unbanned. Also, after that, I experienced splat where I would take fall damage simply just jumping off a car or van in game. That went away after another couple of days. Set up 2 factor and hope it doesn’t happen to anyone else.

ACE, To do this. You have to download an authentication app. And use it to set this up. I hate apps… But if I download the app. Then do the authentication process can I then delete the app or do you have to use that app every time you need to do something? I really don’t like having stuff like that cluttering up my phone and giving away my information to third parties.. Anyone know??

Yes you need an auth app and you need it everytime it will ask you for a 2fa code, basically 2fa creates a 6 digits code every 30 seconds and will ask you this code everytime you want to connect your account somewhere. I believe there are some apps that dont share your data with 3rd parties.

I wonder what criteria is used for shadow bans... number of reports? Recent performance vs historical performance? I've been shadow banned only once... never have cheated and really I may be an only above-average player. I remember I noticed something was off the next day after I had a great run the previous night. Problem was, it took like three weeks for me to have the shadow ban lifted.

To add to this, use 2FA, and make sure that the 2FA is on a device disconnected from the device you play on, and isn't something someone else can access. Mobile 2FA is great, but if you have an email account with 2FA on the same phone, that could be a problem.

If you get shadow banned your either cheating, using some type of software or unlock tool. I have over 50 Cod friends who are all top tier players (Over half are Warzone Iridescent) and only 2 are in a shadow ban loop. One uses an unlock tool and the other use to cheat in Warzone 1 but doesn’t anymore (So he says 😂). Absolutely no one else has ever been shadow banned.

Yep got banned 4 life. Been playing since the first Xbox came out. Now this hobby has gone. I activated 2-factor too late and 2 weeks later , BOEM. Activision kicked me , I did the appeal thing. That was was useless since they stated the cheating took place on my account (which is true), only it wasn't me. Why would I do an appeal if I was the cheater ??? This is one of the reasons I stopped playing games on the PC. I just have pop on the XB and go. Anybody other ideas?

I received a couple shadow bans, not sure why. Just made queue times infinitely long and sometimes I would get put with and against cheaters. I once had a shadow ban lifted and then almost immediately after (maybe a day or two) I received another one.

People get their accounts back, the first request is always denied. But as one tries for 2 weeks finally a person gets the ticket in question and it is resolved in most cases when new account was linked. Dozens of people get their accounts back on reddit in recent weeks. But keep 2FA enabled! Also KEEP BACKUP CODES PRINTED, in case you lose your phone.

This happened to me unfortunately. I was able to get my account back, and i enabled 2fa. However, my account now has the splat mechanic and I cant play normally now. I really liked this cod too which is a shame.
