I have a hard enough time getting people to let me just check the fluids let alone start taking the car apart to do tests on it. Most people selling their car have multiple people interested in it if it's priced fairly, so they don't want to jump through hoops to sell the thing. I can't get anybody to let me have one inspected by an independent mechanic even.

Every used vehicle I bought, was first checked by my mechanic. If not allowed to do so, I walked away. This included a used Toyota and Nissan, which the dealer agreed to my conditions. It was with the Nissan, that I learned that dealer certified means nothing...nothing but words on a piece of paper... the dealer was not even embarrassed or apologetic when I stated, that only a blind mechanic would have missed what my mechanic found. The car needed brakes and a few other repairs. I kept my temper, told the dealer to discount the cost of repairs as estimated by my trusted mechanic, to repair a small dent & repaint, and then offered an even lower price to satisfy my annoyance. They agreed. Granted, this was 8 years ago...times have changed. But doing the right thing...never changes. Scotty's specific advice on this video, is something I would ask my mechanic to do. But overall, he is 100 percent right...have the vehicle checked before buying it, otherwise, walk away. No excuses, no exceptions.

@@KatiTheButcherThe Good news is it is a simple fix, If you let your truck idle just take off oil cap slowly and listen for air inside your engine, the Pressure is very noticeable. I would replace your PCV valve on the valve cover and change your oil and replace two quarts with lucas oil stabilizer. check oil level frequently and replace lost oil with more lucas oil stabilizer. I drove cabs that had oil loss problems due to having over 400 K miles and this worked perfectly. Your valve stem seals could also be causing the oil loss as well.

@@lilibethdoherty295 thanks for the advice, it idles really rough but accelerates just fine. Also have a misfire code cyl 6, there's no knock I think I have it narrowed down to my alternator going bad (caught it over charging the battery once and it's a long story why I didn't get it replaced).
