I was a scratch golfer 20 years and two strokes ago. I lost some of my game after the 1st stroke, started getting it back and lost it completely after my 2nd stroke due to some brain damage. I've been fighting to get my game back and I have to say watching your videos is slowly bringing it back. My neurologist says it'll take up to 3 years for my brain to heal but your videos are helping immensely to help bring it back! I just want to say thank you. I have a pretty long road ahead, but I just keep moving forward following your drills, thanks for what you're doing.

All the good ideas about the golf swing are associated with this basic practice. Ironically, I just 'discovered' this move for myself in my basement 'swing lab' this afternoon. Haven't taken it to the course yet, but was smashing it into the net - and it's so easy to repeat. Prior to this, I've always tried to keep the rear elbow (left for me as a lefty) close to my torso. I'm 60, and still have good mobility, and I'm hoping this results in some more distance. We shall see. Was glad to see this vid confirming I might be doing something right.

Great! Remember though... the most important thing is to be precise with your objective and where you want the ball to go and the flight. Tell your brain and body to see and feel what you want to do with intent. Then the swing has a much better chance of responding to the result you desire. Always try and blend succinct and to the point with the need (to stop folks pinballing from tip to tip) to know that it’s applicable to oneself and also exactly why. Then can determine if it’s the right fit for right now. But yes… always room for improvement and every week get a little better ;)

What kind of practice can be done to ensure that the club face can hit the ball at the right spot(i. e. At the bottom of the ball) ? What usually happens is the club face hits the ground first, or hits the middle of the ball. #giri, bandung, indonesia

Something weird happened to me the other day. I have been hitting straight pretty religiously, but then I hit one to the right and it just felt weird. This stigma caused me to lose confidence when swinging and now I'm starting to hit most of my shots right in my net. It's like I lost my swing. What would suddenly cause this after months of hitting straight? I feel like I'm keeping the face square and rotating but still wants to go right. It's quite frustrating. Am I not rotating all the way through that's causing this or just overthinking things and inadvertently trying to do something to compensate with the swing? I was just getting so confident prior.

Hey... so It’s a little hard to diagnose as it were because we don’t know if it’s path or face causing most of the push. You might just want to do a “silly “ swing and try and hit it left. Also are you seeing or feeling spin to the right? Ball position may be too far back... you might be extending a bit through impact.. feel like the hands are a little lower through impact and left. You also might just be too closed at impact to target, so do some right arm only swings... rotating through.

@@TheArtofSimpleGolf Thanks for the reply. I feel like I'm winding up and swinging through like usual, but I feel like when I go to swing like I'm going to end up hitting it right and I do, lol. I'm going to really assess my swing later on and let you know. This just started to occur 2 days ago out of nowhwere.

Want to try this out later in the nets! I keep fighting this urge to hit at the ball, and I know I shouldn't do it but my big man muscles & ego keep getting in my way! 🤣

@@TheArtofSimpleGolf so...here is some feedback. I was hitting balls yesterday & this elderly woman came upto me and said I have such a beautiful swing. Which hardly ever happens! She was like all these big men just want to hit the ball so far and she could see I was just swinging nice and easy thru the ball. My ball striking felt amazing as well. So just want to say thank you (: Still lots of work to do but feels like I'm finally going in the right direction thanks to your videos.

At 7:17 you mentioned "soft wrists". I dont have much grip strength and fairly inflexible wrists (as a senior golfer) and when I use "soft wrists" in the downswing my irons sling out of control such that I have no control of low point. Centripetal force wants to cast the club head and make the shaft be in line with the forearms and obviously with a normal address position that will put the club head into the ground way behind the ball. So how am I supposed to keep that upward cock I had at address at impact (since that seems to be the only way to have the same bottom I had at address)? Is that why you said you need a "firm grip", to maintain the angle between forearms and the shaft at impact? Would love to hear some explanations of what you have to do with your hand and wrist muscles to achieve consistent bottom and what the relationship has to be between the club shaft and your arms to have a consistent bottom.
@TheArtofSimpleGolf3 жыл бұрын
Hi, You do need to apply firmness... the extension past impact is key. And then allowing to rotate the body if possible. this may help. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZorJqo2LaNtkb8U

@@TheArtofSimpleGolf I find it impossible to delay extension past impact because the club extends itself at or before the bottom. In fact, just adding tighter grip pressure probably would not be enough, I'd have to lock my wrists and squeeze as tight as I am capable of to delay extension as late as you show. Maybe I need lighter clubs. I'm currently using standard weight heads for men. The problem with locking the wrists and squeezing the grip as tight as possible is that it causes wrist/hand injuries on fats and thins.
@TheArtofSimpleGolf3 жыл бұрын
@@georgesmith4639 we certainly don’t want to be squeezing that hard! It’s just like you would a hammer. And actually, heavier clubs may be better than lighter as we then can allow gravity to assist more. But maybe try some lighter ones. The lolling feel is key. But not super sloppy.

Another great drill is to start in your follow-through let the club swing down and back into the backswing, that is a good feeling for your backswing
