Getting plants from your parent’s garden is extra special! This trick will help your daffodils naturalize and spread faster. Daffodils are my favorite as they always start off the garden season! 🌸🌸🌸

So lovely!😍 I love bulbs too. Tulips, Freesias, Hippeastrum, Crocus... but I don't have Daffodils yet. That one with the peach center is a beauty and I will try to get some. Thanks for sharing your tips 👍☺️💕.

Thank you! Daffodils are so easy and multiply each year. I hope you plant some in the fall to add to your flower collection! 🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱😃🌸

Hello! I’ve still got a few blooming too! This is a trick I really think helps them multiply! I know Dad loves to be in the yard, so this will give him a little spring project! I hope I’ll be seeing you soon! Thanks for watching ! 💕🌸💕🌸💕

Taking the flower off redirects the energy back down to bulb production instead of seed production. I’m sure your daffodils will still be okay next year, they are tough and love to naturalize. Thanks for watching! 😀🌿🌿🌿

This might be a silly question, but when you cut the flower off & wherever it lands is that where new seeds/flowers are expected to grow? Also, one more question I don't have any planted, but I do have one that I picked alongside a road, I put it in water (hoping it was going to grow roots so I could plant it) the flower is browning, do you think the plant will survive if I plant it, and cut the flower off?
@PleasantPrickles Жыл бұрын
It’s not a silly question! I always let the brown blooms fall around the plant just in case there is any mature seed in them, but they are probably not mature enough to produce viable seed. Seed heads that have been left on the plant to mature may sprout where they fall, but it would take about four years of growing to produce a flower. We cut the spent flower off the plant so the plant can produce more underground bulbs, (the faster way of reproducing itself). The flower you found at the side of the road will only grow if it still has the bulb. Flowers do not root and produce a plant, bulbs do. So, if you have a bulb definitely plant it, it will die back and should grow again next year in the right conditions. Good luck! 🌸🌸🌸🌱🌱😀

@@PleasantPrickles I planted it in the ground just incase, & entry when I cut the flower off I noticed it had seeds built up underneath the flower (so, they had accumulated while being in the glass full of water for about a week or so - after I brought it home). So, I don't know if it'll grow/re-grow, but there were seeds under the flower. (in still a little confused about the seeds on top part lol). Thank you for replying! 🤗🌞

Thanks for the tips! I plant to plant some daffodils to naturalize, I live in the PNW so unfortunately tulips aren't reliable here, not cold enough. They do better in containers
@PleasantPrickles Жыл бұрын
I have much better luck with Daffodils here in zone 6b/7a. Tulips are almost like an annual for me, they rarely make back a second year. I hope this helps you keep your daffs spreading each year! Thanks for watching! 🌱🌱🌱😀

Thank you I needed info on my new pot of flowers, just dont know if they are better in the pot or if its ok to plant them this time of year in the ground. Help
@PleasantPrickles Жыл бұрын
I’m glad it was helpful! I think it would be fine to plant them in the ground anytime this spring, so they can root in before the heat of summer knocks back the foliage. I often plant blooming daffodils from the nursery this time of year. It’s not the time of year to plant dormant bulbs, but growing bulbs are a different story! Good luck! 🌸🌸🌸🌱🌱🌱😀

The all white daffodils are called "Mount Hood" I have these too in my garden, they look absolutely stunning when planted with pink tulips. I can't remember the name of the white with yellow trumpet daffs.

I do this as my momma taught me but my problem is that they multiply but do not bloom. I don’t know if I should fertilizer them?
@PleasantPrickles Жыл бұрын
I just heard that daffodils are blind (meaning no blooms) when they are not planted deep enough. Fertilizer like a bloom booster may also help, but also once the foliage dies back, maybe you should put more soil and mulch over them, so they bloom next year. The bulbs should be 4-6 inches under soil. It’s worth a try. Good luck! 🌸🌸🌸😀

@@PleasantPrickles Seriously? I will definitely try. Thank you for the tip. 🥰

If you let them grow seeds, would the seeds make new plants?
@PleasantPrickles3 жыл бұрын
I have read that they do , but it takes three years for the seeds to mature to blooming size. So that’s why I like to encourage them to make more bulbs underground. But, it would be fun to experiment growing the seeds. Thanks for watching! 🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌸

Daffodils need full sun, perhaps they should be moved if they are currently in a shady location? Also, if they are planted too shallowly, they will not bloom either. They need to be 6-8 inches below the surface. Good luck, 🌿🌿🌿😃
