I have deliberately started to change my destroyer tactics lately by breaking the game into 3 x 5 min segments, which I call deployment, stabilisation, and conclusion. in the first 5 minutes I am deliberately avoiding gunfights, instead working on spotting, capping where safe to do so and watching the game develop, particularly where the enemy destroyers are. I'm trying to not be just another destroyer player who rushes in and dies in the first three minutes. If a destroyer can survive to the last 5 minute phase you can run amok; by then the enemy destroyers are dead, caps are often open and many enemy are isolated and easy prey for torp strikes.

Yeah it’s so frustrating to see your teammates just go for damage. They don’t seem to care about wins at times. It’s like they don’t realize what’s expected of them to get wins. I’m seeing more and more ships from far left or right going all the way to the other side, even when you have CV’s and there are only 2 ships on the flanks.

I actually just had a match on this map that played out exactly how you were explaining on the south side overloading the west wrong and the north side steamrolling through the east on the 6v3. I barely managed to save the point with seconds to spare with my carpet bombers splash damage in their smoke as our team was way overextended west and couldnt get back to base. Harassed the akatsuki capping just enough for the team to finally make it back around and pick everyone heading into the base off one by one as i just contested and reset cap. Turned from a 5v8 with our disadvantage to a 4v1 advantage after about 7 minutes with me being the only one dead because they all came in on my flank. Saved the game like 4 times there. Crazy uphill battle.

Your opening play of going up the middle right onto the enemy base is one i make often on this map. It tends to cause chaos for the enemy team causing many of them to turn around to come back while the rest who continue to push forward get picked off from being outnumbered. Once i get pushed off the cap i have half the enemy team chasing me into a blackhole of irrelevance while my team mops up.

I have learned a ton about this game from your videos. I only have about 700 standard games under my belt but consider myself relatively experience since I try to actively learn how to be better. With that point, I get easily frustrated when people avoid getting the win and hunt another kill or to deliver more damage. XP is so much better with a win than an extra kill is going to give you. Anyway, rant over lol.

I don't know what it is about the eastern passage. Players just can't seem to resist going over there. I suspect there might be a small island with sirens on it. It would explain quite a bit.

Yep! We were on the North and I spawned on the West with another BB. The ENTIRE blue team (7 ships!) went down the East passage. By the time they finally cleared that passage- which the enemy team just filled with torps and laughed with Christmas delight- the game was completely lost. The BB and I played a fighting retreat the entire way across our base but 5x2 was just impossible to hold them off. So... Damned... Frustrating... My second game, I just said F**k it and sailed my DD straight up the middle and into their base.

I feel north also has a huge spotting advantage on the west side. Since those 2 islands are there the west flank usually can't see anything till 5 minutes into the match. Hate playing this map from both sides.

I just had a game where Red left their base and I drove the Zara in unspottet and that was it. 8 ships left on each team. Nobody even tried to spot me. And there was no destroyers in the game.

@Tbull: French DD’s are pretty deadly in a gunfight no doubt. Also, I have the GK space skin from that event and the sound effects are kinda cool with the update. Try it out if you have any of them.

The mid section of the map is out in the open, anyone spotted in there gets wailed on from both sides of the map. I get that team mates should help cover you, but that seldom happens. I have 20 days played right now, and on these 2 base maps I am still at a loss at what is best thing to do at spawn in a BB, if I go forward I am spotted and set on fire right away, if I reverse I leave the team one less set of guns and if I go sideways I am broadside ... It seems I am doomed no matter what I do. That's why I only play DDs and CVS now, cause when you are spotted in a BB you are a floating BBQ

This was pretty much worst case deployment by both teams lol sadly not uncommon. This map can make for some great games but usually it’s just so bad with capture the base. Should be Domination mode only.
