First off, Darren, you are one of my favorite streamers and I'm always looking forward to new content on your channel. You could keep your Satisfactory content as is and I would continue to watch through, to you finishing up the game, but I know that is not for everyone. Some feedback I'd like to offer: 1) The other streamers your mentioned, they are typically shorter videos, maybe 20 - 30 minutes. As you move on later into the series and you see that viewership starts to drop, maybe the 1 hour format gets to be a little too long for most of the audience (again, this doesn't bother me, but you have the data to back this up). You do show quit a bit of actual machine placement, splitter, merger and belt hook ups... maybe that could be trimmed down more and provide a sort of "walk through" to show what you did in the end. That would help with getting the videos shorter, if you think that may be the problem. 2) As far as needing a "payoff", I agree with some of the other comments and don't think that is necessarily needed for each episode. With bigger factories, we can watch them grow through each of the episodes and get the big payoff at the end when things are turned on... almost like a mini-series. 3) Maybe every once in a while, release a sort of "how to" or "tips and tricks" video. When you talk about viewers going back to older videos, these are usually the type I look for when I'm going back to older content. I may get into trains and so I'll go back to older videos where my favorite content creators did tutorials on trains or tips and tricks that showed blueprint designs, some of there favorite layouts and how they may have laid down tracks and such. If you tossed a couple of those types of videos in from time to time (tutorial on trucks and road making, tips and tricks on trains, blueprint designs of some of your stackable and non-stackable machines, etc) I can see those maybe pulling some viewers back into the series and coming back to those videos time and time again, for reference. Sorry for the word vomit, but I hope this helps some. Keep up the great work!

I’ve been looking forward to the next video. I feel breaking a video into multiple is fine. No need to always have a payoff after each one. Also probably ok to take a 60 min video into 30 and release 1 for multiple days in a row. Keep up the great work.

Loved the base layout - looking forward to seeing how it grows and expands! I think that could have been a video by itself! And I think splitting a build into multiple videos would be fine, think like a tv series and always leave us looking to the next episode for something! Catch you tomorrow on the stream.

I really appreciate the breakdown of the lines/maths involved, etc. I'm newish to the game, but you're not doing anything wrong imo. TotalX always talks about factory designs and such, and yours is a different methodology.

I really enjoy the videos. Breaking up the episodes doesn't sound like a bad idea. I could appreciate a bit by bit approach. Makes it a little less intimidating when trying to follow. Even if I get left behind I know there's a road map being laid out.

As far as why imkibitz gets bigger is his videos have a narrative, the "whoo boy this is gonna be tough!" we kinda watch because we enjoy the agony, the bits of him saying "I'm losing my mind" but we get the release of "he pulled it off" (even if that was never truly in question) totalxclipse videos get bigger because his videos are more focused on the tutorial aspect, so his videos go off when there's a problem people have in satisfactory, but that's limited since people don't always have tons of problems. And the videos fall off at the places people typically stop playing the game e.g. the mid to late game. you have excellent editing, your builds are fun and satisfying to watch, Your content reminds me a lot of pxlriifs who is a Minecraft KZbinr, and he does similar numbers relative to Minecraft, relative to Mungo. While I am definitely the audience who enjoys a mix of let's play and tutorial, talking about difficulties as they come up, there isn't really a name for it, so it's harder to rally around. You can try injecting.a narrative, though often that will feel fake (because it is) "Can I get this number of ____???" You can try getting more clickbait titles and thumbnails using arrows in the thumbnail, and then pay off on that clickbait. You can lean more into the tutorials, but again, tutorials only do numbers for problems people have/ solutions they are looking for online. Or you can try to keep your videos down to 10 minutes, make it more of a series, mention in the video there's a playlist with a link in the description. I'd look to Minecraft KZbinrs if you want inspiration- but Minecraft is way more popular due to it being more kid friendly. You could go the mungo route, have smaller videos where you experiment with blueprints, and 10 minute lets plays where you do builds and exploring. I would enjoy that a lot, and I think 6 ten minute videos is easier to swallow than a 1 hour video. But on the whole I mostly just think you have to find your niche if you want bigger numbers, figure out what makes you special and dig into that.

Darren in honesty I follow this channel (the reason I subscribed) is becuse this is a very relaxed, very calming kind of content. Your videos are great for me because I can just sit and watch something that doesn't make me anxious or frustrated with the person playing the game. That said, I think that the reason other Satisfactory creators are successful is because their building style is all over the place (?) Take Kibbitz, for example. I think his last series was a huge success because of the constant "What will he do next?" kinda vibe the content has. This, of course, extends to the mistakes (intentional or not) that he made. That nuclear reactor oversight and subsequent fallout disaster, while incredibly annoying to deal with in game, made for great content and made Kibbitz engineer a proper solution.

I like the idea of a central base idea with equipment workshop, MAM, and such. I've been moving them all around and hadn't felt like they're in a good position. The step-down into the workshop is pretty great. Might have to use that when I figure out where things go more permanently. Thank you!

I really enjoy your videos because it's so different from how I usually play. I'm more of a bring things to a central location with something like trains kind of play, then make an item mall for everything I need and when I need to do things for the space elevator, I take the items and just set up a machine or two to do each item and let it take as long as it takes because I have other things to work on with exploring and just enjoying the world. I will likely end up after I get far enough with train lines taking resources to make things to run into the awesome sink while I get everything there is to gather and just relax. I am doing an overdone build at the moment, but it's just doing one pure node of oil fully overclocked to make as much rocket fuel as I can to run as many generators as I can. I think I did the math and it will be something like 575 of them, so 230 fully overclocked and making over 140 gigawatts of power. And that's with leaving some of the excess available to get turned into ionized fuel for my jetpack. But that's just to make everything else easier to run where you do the huge builds for every item and it's so awesome to watch. Especially the blueprints

Hey Darren! As a fellow Satisfactory youtuber (albeit a very small creator), I can 100% see your concern. In the beginning, smaller builds are easier to put into a video. However, I also work a full time job 55-60 hours so when I get into the late game, the bigger builds get harder to cram into one video. I only have so much time to record and edit, so I end up "cutting out a lot of the fluff" and try to just show off the main concepts of the build. I think a lot my/our audience just wants fresh ideas like your undergrou d research facility. Brilliant! I'm hoping Mk.2 and Mk.3 blueprint designers will make end game factories a little easier! Love your videos! Cheers!

I like the energy and humour you bring to your vids. Also really appreciate the effort you go to in making plans, saves, even color swatches, available. I've started a lot in Sat, but never gotten too far because of burnout. So I'm still much of a beginner, but not a complete novice. From my perspective, finishing a build in a single vid is a non issue. I follow your builds religiously. At times you seem to be racing and it really is hard to follow your orientation as you spin around and jump from point to point between edits. I would prefer slightly slower pace, less jumpy edits.
@tiernanhilley3493

I find the fast paced videos with mega factories "booped" in seconds very jarring and hard to follow even though I'm a fan of kibitz. The biggest reason I enjoy your videos is the detail and care you take with your planning and how well thought-out your builds are. It's so easy to tune in and follow the details of every meticulous decision you've made while also being slow paced enough that I could have your video going on in the background while I work and still know exactly what's going on. It's super refreshing. Although I really enjoy this about your content, it could also be making it too easy for people to lose attention because they don't miss a whole lot by skipping a vid or two and especially if they're not interested in the details. It's a shame that not everyone appreciates this kind of style though. Similar to what happened to minecraft content, retention seems to be consistent with faster paced videos because the majority of the audience is looking for "the next big project" where, if you blink you miss something. People who aren't super serious about the game and are only consuming content underestimate the effort that goes into this stuff. The likes of Kibitz is unrealistic and although I am a fan, I enjoy his content for a very different reason to why I enjoy yours. Every video you post inspires me to be more creative and plan better factories. I too have 1000s of hours in the game for someone who's never been consistent enough to make it past tier 6 and I still love your videos. Not to mention, I'm from Ireland myself so I gotta support the fam.

In this one, you could have donea short one of exploring then setting up basecamp, then done the first half of the motor factory, then finishing and decorating in a third video. Spaced out over the week might boost your channel

Maybe try splitting it into smaller achievements? You don't need to finish a whole factory in a single video. Make one video about design, one for infrastructure and so on and so forth. In this video you did basically two projects. One for the new base and one for the whole factory. Imagine you would have uploaded one video for infrastructure, planning and your new base and one (maybe longer than 30 minutes) for the motor factory. Also having shorter videos should make it easier to watch. Not that many people have time to just take a whole hour out of their day for a video. At least not that often. If you have some "special" double lenght videos here and there that would probably be okay, but with every video that sometimes makes it feel like a commitment.

I love your videos! One suggestion I have is to create filler episodes focused on design, which could help maintain consistency and attract more views. Additionally, since this content is for your current audience, you might consider using music time-lapses instead of jump cuts. This approach could allow you to produce more episodes as well. Ultimately, though, we’re here for you and your unique way of playing the game. If you’re happy with how you’re doing things, stick with it-don’t stress too much about views. Over time, more people who appreciate your style will find and enjoy your content.

Happy new year everyone! Great stuff Darren! All the best in 2025 for you and your NFT creator GF ;P And Nyx and Styx of course. (Hope I got their names right) I think your Update 8 series is still great, as are your live streams. This is turning out to be quicker than the U8 series and more "Darrenonized" (Cosmeticified) than the streams. A great strategy. I'm already really looking forward to the next one! Awesome base camp! The vertical power in the blueprints is a big time saver. No messing around with beams. I noticed that you are center feeding manifolds this time around. Way compacter than you probably would like, but it's my preferred method. Looking very nice! You seemed a bit put out that you didn't get to finish the whole factory. Don't be :). If you can't let if go, read up on Taoism. And / or you could try smaller tasks per episode and not mixing tasks. So the HDDs, base camp and road infrastructure, with maybe a little bit motor factor planning teaser (Or just the foundation layout), could have been one vid and the motor factory itself another. If you have to put out some longer or shorter videos to break things up into episodes that work better for you, then do so. :)

Hey bro, personally I find shorter videos better to watch mainly because of my schedule and other channels I need to get through before the end of the night. But I agree with the idea of a short-themed video, e.g. planning stage, first floor, second floor, truck logistics and such, even for the really dedicated shorter Q&A episodes.

Great video as always Darren. Your better half might have a point with shorter videos with more focus on what you're doing. Not sure if that will help with upload schedules or anything, but I myself would benefit from hearing more about your thought process and how you plan each project out. It's what I loved about your Update 8 series. Hope this input helps. Much love, dude.

Certainly hope you get a chance to finish the game. I prefer your videos vs. those big channels because: No click bait or sensationalism Easily achievable builds still done with care and attention to detail Self awareness: - Great timing of jump-cuts, still showing what to do without becoming tedious - Just when I think the jumping is getting annoying, you acknowledge it and explain why you do it - Making the choice to drive on the right side of the road for your audiences' sake even though you live in a left-side driving country - You narrate with a normal, calm tone of voice, not overly affected trying to hype things up. It sounds like you respect your audience's attention spans, not treating us like preteens with ADHD Constructive feedback: You can afford to use more jump cuts the further your series goes along - especially, I thought, while building the extra rows of machines in the motor factory. As you mentioned, the first two videos had a beginner-friendly pace but you will move things along faster as you progress. The first two videos had a great balance of "showing" and "telling". For this video, I think that the parts with the conveyor setup feel like it gets bogged down in the explaining and thus repetitive. Will be less of a problem once you get Hoverpacks, but instead of constantly jumping, suggest building a temporary "large concrete pillar" one or two blocks high (with a ladder up the side if needed), then climbing on top to contemplate things when you don't need the full observation tower.

A payoff can be as simple as a really cool underground mam lair, or a unique aesthetic truck station. Have fun with the same and stay creative. We can tell when you are just grinding. Stay small, invent fun projects and complete the game, it's not over when you win it's just easier to build.
@ScottMcH
@ScottMcH 21 сағат бұрын
I enjoy seeing a full build from start to finish in a video but think your GF could be right that having the payoff in a different video may work out better for you. Maybe as a sort of halfway solution, once you're done with a big build which lasted maybe three episodes you could stitch the three together into one longer video. You'd also be getting a little bit more content for basically no additional input. Just a thought!

I do feel each video is "packed", which I like, but means I have to make time. Maybe not always an easy option for some. I do like the idea of breaking up the project. A heads up might help keep peoples expectations set, like describing the whole project at the start, but then mention (or edit in) how far you plan to get in "today's video". Also let's you set up the next video in a "to be continued" kinda way (people love a good cliff hanger, lol). Less work on you to get a full project out, and easier for the audience to digest. My question would be how would you try to break up each project smoothly?

I love this game but I will say the biggest thing I don’t like about it is that most of the good creators, including you ☺️, have 1-2 hour long videos and I usually end up having to rewatch the video multiple times because I will fall asleep during them. I absolutely love your approach to things and definitely one of the only people I see actually use trucks and tractors and build infrastructure for them where most people *cough* eclipse *cough* just hate them and skip straight to trains. I tell people if they actually give the trucks a chance and set up even bare bones infrastructure, they’re actually great! Keep it up bud, I’ll always watch, even if I’m asleep!

Hi Darren. I have been watching your content since Satisfactory 6. I love yourcontent for your relaxed playstyle, exactly what I need after a day's work. I prefer the shorter video's (30-60min), I just don't have the time to watch long streams. I think you should start to cut up your video's, because it's going to get really difficult for you to get content out in time. I've been working for 4 weeks on an Ionized fuel factory and I'm 2/3rds done... If I het one point out for you to imprive it's consistently of uploads. You have been struggling with that for years. I agree with everything @deojj said 100%. I just wanted to add a caution, be wary trying to become what the audience wants or chasing the views of other creators. I have watched creators do this over the years and it burns them out. They eventually loose sense of themselves and the passion to create. It becomes more about making people happy than creating great content. I get that there needs to be a balance between the two when this becomes an income stream, but it needs to remain just that, a balance. Don't loose your passion for what you do by chasing views. Make great content that brings you joy and others will gravitate to it.

Hey there, about the other content creators you talked about, like they get better and better results with more videos in series, me personally, I only watch you and kibitz as far as the satisfactory content goes, what I noticed about kibitz is that he does big builds like almost over the top ones and he likes to talk a lot about far far future of his satisfactory build telling the audience how cool things will look etc., but he also makes the video a lot shorter, like in one 20-30 minute long video he does the same progress like you do in 1 hour video, not that I dont like it, I love when satisfactory videos are longer, but it might be reason why many are leaving your channel, especialy younger audience since they just cant watch for 1 hour thanks to their low attention span, I dont watch TotalXclipse so I dont know how his content is created, but I enjoy long videos as I bet many here do as well, even came across your channel and decided to watch the whole series that you had before this one, anyway, I think that the long duration of your videos is the reason why some are just leaving but I still enjoy it as many others do, keep the good work up

I believe the main reason would probably be the lenght of your videos. A lot of the audience probability doesn't have enough concentration to last 1 hour so maybe consensing or even splitting your videos into like 40-45 min ones could help. I personally don't have a problem with long videos, but I see my friends who don't have that much attention span. Also you can probably cut out most of the actual building later in the series and you don't need to go into such small details of how you did your lines. Even though I personally enjoy it, I can sew how it could be boring for some people. But hey, this is just my opinion and I don't know that much about how KZbin works, so I very well could be wrong. Anyway, keep up the good work 👍

I've always enjoyed your videos, i watch most of the other creators as well. I like your vids because you build in a similar style as i do, which is exactly like this video, you have a pretty darn good idea of the layout and what goes where and then it magically expands itself to 30-45% larger than you planned 😄but!! that's fine, you roll with it, as do I (I'm actually really happy you ditched the painted foundations for layouts) I think it's a much more realistic play style that a lot of players have as opposed to maybe Totalx where he makes every building a "masterpiece" and Kibitz needs to make 46million ppm for every part he makes which to me is overdone. As far as the video progression, I really don't think the "all in one" video is necessary at all, as a matter of fact i would rather you release "work in progress" videos i.e. stage 1, stage 2 and not necessarily extremely structured in style. which is exactly how this video turned out, you built in a rapid style because you're experienced it's fun to watch that style!! but you had multiple goals on the clipboard that went undone, that's fine! that's how 90% of us play because we obviously can't play 24/7 and don't apologize for it, we know you have a life outside of Satisfactory... plus i think another person commented, you almost have to think of it as a sitcom of sorts where there is no true "finish" to any build but a continuation... that is a super simplified and i know incredibly hard to pull off, but if i want to watch the next one you have to put that "carrot on a stick" you know? (even tho i'll watch all of them the day you post them! ) either way i wish you luck with this series, i know i'll be watching and liking them no matter how it turns out! cheers mate!

I always feel like I'm an odd one out when it comes to algorithm insight. But for whatever it's worth, I enjoy how thorough your videos are, which you do in a way that I haven't seen any other Satisfactory content really do. That being said, there is something to be considered about the length of your videos, because personally, to commit to something more than 30 minutes long takes some effort. I like your videos enough that I'm happy to make that effort, in your particular case. But I suspect that's not the case with a certain bulk of your viewers. And as the novelty of a brand new playthrough wears off, the commitment to that amount of time may turn people away. So, yeah, try shorter videos and see what happens! I'll certainly keep watching them!

I watch various streamers/youtubers for games I like to play or may like to play, because I'm interested and sometimes learn things I didn't know, and they all have various videos lengths, I don't really mind the length as long as I'm engaged, I wont subscribe or watch a streamer/youtuber if the person in question can't keep me engaged. So as long as you keep doing what you're doing, the video length will be irrelevant to me.

Man I always love your builds.. I don't even play the game, I only watch it here lol But... Why set 5 machines all to 96%.. wouldn't 4 running 100% and the last one lowered work the same, but use less power? The builds are fantastic.. The commentary is great.. I'm thinking it might be the timespan between. But remember, you don't wanna be a 1 game channel, cuz then when interest wanes, which it always does, the channel will collapse... not saying I don't want tons more of these!!! Just being real :D

I really enjoy your content, but you really don't need a full product every video. I would have been very happy with just your new base area ... which is awesome by the way. Then maybe throw down the basic foundations for your next project ... the Motor Factory. I think you are trying to pack too much into a single episode. Smaller accomplishments over more episodes would be great. Instead of completing the entire factory and then turning it on, maybe set up all the basic material machines/logistics, such as ingots in this case, and then set up their delivery of ore for a minor goal win. Next episode, set up the refining into the components and we can watch those flow and be staged for the final assembly and storage/shipping out logistics. But yes, more consistent videos/uploads would keep the audience attuned. Anyway, my 2 copper pieces.

Nice video! Just split videos up into multiple parts, payoff can come in a different video, keeps better viewer retention i think and an incentive to watch the next one

If you want to have videos where you don't necessarily finish a base, but still have that payoff of finishing something, have a theme for each episode, stuff like "This episode we are working on water and power" and then go and work on and finish the pumping stations for a build details and all, and then also do some other odds and ends as well. I would also try to maintain a 3:1 recorded video length to edited video length ratio. As it is your pacing might be too fast to make the payoff worth it. try splitting up the build, so that people who watch episode 1 want to come back for episode 2 of the build. don't make episode 1 necessary for episode 2, but reward the people who have watched both.

The issues, the more you progress, the more complicate it becomes and people tend to lose focus on that stage. It's not your format, it's nice and well done but the mid to end game as I said becomes too complicated. I think adding special builds and ideas can keep people interested.

If I was to critique anything about format, having long time periods between uploads KILLS you on the algorithm and probably what does you in view wise. In the end don't matter how big and awesome the content you make is. If people just aren't seeing it and it's not getting recommended to new people it's gonna look like you're not progressing. Dan you have the high quality down, you make awesome videos. The content isn't the issue by any means so never think that. I just think you lack at playing KZbin's algorithm to your advantage so your content gets buried within KZbin. I would try instead of trying to push for a massive project per episode (these projects are usually massive and I do love it), But maybe pushing towards a Milestone within these projects would be better suited, that way; a) Firstly you take much less up front planning, so videos come faster, also gives you time to work out kinks and take in feedback, you don't need to spend as much upfront time doing that, if it's spread out etc. Makes things manageable, and also plays more with KZbin's game b) Secondly you wouldn't just leaving off with the classic "that all the time we have today" and stop at some random point. It'll still be structured with a clear goal or milestone achieved at the end of the video, but the smaller vision of a bigger project makes things much more manageable for you. You're the biggest asset to this channel, don't stretch yourself so thin c) Thirdly if less time needed overall to record on a per episode basis, the steps you take will be more in a realistic scope of progress. To be frank, you do ALOT. Rome wasn't built overnight (or however that saying goes), You do in my opinion take too big steps sometimes and it really bogs down your process. Your streams for example you just vibe and chat and do stuff, might paint some rails/machines etc. You're going at a normal pace and you seem much more in your zone at that pace d) Lastly More frequent uploads = more likely to be shown on KZbin's side, which is what I think is the main lead on your views/retention not being equal to you're size and quality. Again you make absolute banger videos, but if no one sees them than it can feel kinda like a bust sometimes. I'm not saying upload daily etc, I'm just saying you do too much work up front which leads to a lot of down time between episodes, it can kill momentum, and may even take a toll stress wise (I don't know you personally so I can't honestly say). It might be better off to segment it as it gives you a break from having to hardcore grind (aka take a long time) for one video, but also plays better with KZbin's backend. You seem like a guy who really likes structure and consistency (something I love about the series), you can still keep that while segmenting things out, in fact, segmenting out might give you extra time to work out those kinks that come later on in a builds timeline. It makes progress more smooth and the uploads and watch time consistent Think of walking; you don't overextend your legs as far as you can to walk somewhere. You take the simple but might step, even though overextending gives you more distance, walking is faster cause it's more consistent and keeps the momentum. More steps overall sure but the destination almost comes faster that way. Simple metaphor but hope that helps Either path you take is fine by me, Ik I'll be watching, but genuinely if you're looking to retain and even grow you do have to play ball with youtube's algorithm at lot more, as much as that may be annoying. I'm no youtube expert so take what I say lightly, but maybe I provided some insight or helped something click inside that helps you. I do know that video frequency is MASSIVELY important and is the only lead I have on what could be the issue. And finally I smacked you with this novel because I truly do enjoy your content, I want to see you grow. So this critique might come off as a dig at you etc. But please try not to take it that way. Sometimes a more in depth critique is needed for insight etc. I typed all this cause I genuinely wanna try and help with that. You mentioned in the end about nice comments, which are deserved 100%, you make great contentC but they don't help you see something that you could do more efficiently/effectively. My word isn't law either, if this is something you tried or isn't your style, or you simply just don't want to do it then that's fine too. Again just tryna provide insight or suggest something that may help. Either way, love the content and enjoy your day.

The last segment of the video feels a bit slow-paced, at least from my perspective. It comes across as repetitive, like the same thing over and over again. It might be more engaging if it were a bit faster. You don’t necessarily need to show every constructor, every single belt, or explain everything in such detail.
