Blood Pythons a stunning snakes. I have a 2018 female from NERD. Once you prove to them you are trustworthy they make great snake family members. NERD has a male Blood I am going to buy. Best snakes ever. This video was very helpful, especially about not looming over your snake. Camilla, my Matrix, taught me she does not approve of that.

Damn Rob that was close! :D Just found this video and I love it! I am a few months into establishing a relationship with a young blood python and this video was *perfect*. Loved all the insights regarding handling and their body language. And absolutely agree...not all short-tails are angry...they are just anxious and are a different ball game than something like a ball python.

I got my hands on a hatchling blood from a great breader just two weeks ago, and this video in particular gave me the confidence to make the commitment and get him. I am a whole-ass year late to this party, but one of my king snakes is so sensitive about being handled, and I've noticed that when I use both hands to lift her out of her enclosure, she is much less wiggly and poopy. After watching this video, I think I'm confident enough to try handling her more often, and to help her realize I am not the threat she thinks I am. She's never tried to bite me, though, so at least I'm lucky in that aspect (but the poop, oh my god the poop, I'll be literally just taking her out to put her in her feeding container and feed her, and she'll fling her poop at me). This video will help me make her feel more supported and safe in my hands. Thank you for posting its year ago--I wish I'd found it then

Great technique. You give me such incredible Blood python handling tips. I have a wild caught and she hisses every time I get close at about half meter to her enclosure. Whenever I try to pick her up, she swirls her head and body around aggressively, keeps hissing rapidly. Fortunately, I’ve never got bit by her. Anyway, I’m trying to develop our relationship and hope it’ll be better next time. This is a must watch video that I have to rewatch for many times. Thanks for sharing.

These are such a heavy bodied snake, i love it. Mine is not so aggressive, but has a tendency to slither backwards makes it a pain to hold her.

My blood would literally give me kisses, she has been the best pet i've ever had, aside from my dog obviously. The sweetest snake ever and I've had quite a lot with my friends, she would recognize me right away and would kinda wave her head left to right for attention, she also did like cuddles and rubs. She would be out of her viv for atleast 2 hours a day, with me, on my lap or on my desk. God knows how much I loved her.. never ever ever neither attacked nor been agressive. She would also not eat lives. I've most probably had a one in a million.. I fucken miss her 😥

Usually I don’t get bit cause I just put my hand in there and I grab em so fast they don’t even get the chance to think about it (I don’t have snakes. Not yet at least. I go behind my house and catch 3-4 foot long gopher snakes. Sometimes I’ll catch green rat snakes but they’re just so fast sometimes I don’t even try.) I mean for a thirteen year old I got plenty of time to get snakes and get my venomous license and all that, so I’m not to worried about it right now
