I remember when I was a teenager. It was the end of the week. I had practice for 3 hours all week long. I walked into the kitchen around 7 pm. I said something grumpily to my dad, and he said, "Go to bed! You are exhausted." Sure enough, I slept until late the next morning, having needed the rest tremendously. Nowadays, raising three children of my own, I think of that time and remember, they're never too old for me to know they need a nap. ❤😴

I just went through this with my dog last year. I rescued her at about 1 year old and I had her for 12 years. It was one of the hardest things I ever went through to see her suffering and understanding that it was all up to me when I was going to end her life. The grieving process was hell. I totally sympathize with you. Our pets are family. It’s extremely difficult to see them sick knowing you can’t do anything about it. It’s just as hard to let them go.

Do what you need to to care for yourselves, pet parents. 💜 When a family member is terminally ill, it can become so consuming that we miss what our bodies need. It's all the harder for folks who are neurodivergent, too, since we so frequently miss bodily cues to begin with. Keep going, but go with care and with rest breaks when you need them. 💜

Has been helpful to myself too while dealing with inconsiderate housemates and reminding myself that people need to help themselves instead of us being the ones doing all the heavy lifting.

Your journey has already started. You are aware that there is a need to learn how to love yourself. The door is now open for you to start investing good things into yourself. Things that you absolutely love and enjoy? It could be something small, and as silly as may sound, even buying yourself an article of clothing that inspires you and makes you feel good really does help, it does for me. Do something positive and nice for yourself each day. On the days you can't, it's okay. Just don't quit. I can't honestly say I love me at this stage, but I do like myself. I still have days where I loath myself but they are now fewer and far more between.

It’s terrifying. Like you I pushed myself too hard and my marriage went bad. When my company’s building burnt down it was like the end of the only stable thing in my life. I had a total breakdown and couldn’t get out of bed for 6 weeks. That was 7 years ago and I’m much better (and functional) but I’m still trying to learn to take better care of myself. One of the great dangers is basing self esteem around what you DO, rather than who you ARE.

The reason people enter that dangerous "territory" is that, as in the example, they've been going through the motions for 12 hours or more. But then they also need to actually live a little. The downside is that there is time for actual living usually when you are your lowest but life doesn't ask for that, it just asks to be lived.

I still wish I could speak to the narrator after many years. I have studied much of this and have had great understanding for a long time. I have studied as much as I could from all angles in every nuance. I think that there is a big difference in the degree to which some of us can be aware of the nuances and have more complete understanding of things. My life was very tragic in what happened to me. I’m still trying to process that and find solutions but I know I need to find some people that understand to the degree that I do and have enough life experience discernment discipline honesty intelligence etc to truly get it. My parents did some terrible things to me and can never take responsibility or have remorse or care at all. I still suffer the consequences of their actions I could not have control over. I still have some permanent issues because of things they did that I can’t deny while they live in the full comfort of their denial. It is torturous to me every day to live with. I’ve tried to tell my story and get the truth out but it feels futile. It’s a bit too complicated to try to explain this way in one go. Feels like I carry the weight of the world and I am not Superman. For 23 years straight, since I was 16 and they stole my life from me… I am 39 now, it’s all correlative and provable in who they are… versus who I am…

Holly shit,! This guy just nailed my emotionall.immaturity and how at 57 , with insufficient sleep , I become almost literally a 2 year old in temper tantrum mode , and how I have to become my own parent and force me to turn the thing off, or put the book down, or stop playing at making jewelry and GO TO SLEEP! Cause when the child side wins and rebukes against boundaries and is so tired, she's wired....everything seems to take the color of shit. Everything bothers me, and I just want to run away from me. But when a good night sleep comes, usually accompanied by rain, which we love, oh! Then, all of Life is worth living for. God! I can be a weird human with very little effort. Lord have Mercy on all of us super thinkers. Living in ones head 24/7 it's a bitch of a habit to unlearn.

00:04😴 Children often don't realize when they're tired, reacting strongly to small issues. It's crucial for parents to gently guide them to bed. 0:32🕖 As adults, we neglect our own fatigue, pushing ourselves with little sleep and hectic schedules. 1:11⚠ We risk misjudging situations and others' actions when mentally exhausted, prone to overreacting. 1:36🌅 Daily stresses can erode our perspective, leading to disproportionate reactions and conflicts. 2:25🚨 It's important to communicate our emotional fragility to loved ones, even when it's not visibly apparent.
