Genuinely thought these throttle controllers were a gimmick.... Installed mine 2 months ago, wish I’d done it years ago. Makes a phenomenal difference when towing loads for work, driving around the town or crawling up a wooded track. I am temporarily running 35’s on standard diffs, this EVC throttle controller has made my truck feel normal with them on 😍

I've had an IDrive fitted for quite some time on my stock 2014 Auto Nissan Patrol. What impressed me the most was when I first fitted it. My driveway is quite steep, and usually it would kick back to 1st to get up it slowly. Now, with the controller, if I hit the driveway in second, it just powers up there. No lag, before kicking back to 1st gear.

Pedal torq here, 200 series. I realise there is a few makes about now, and they all do the same thing more or less. Having said this, standard 200 series throttle response is ordinary, but its what you get used to, until you get a throttle controller, then you will wonder why you didnt get one sooner. I cant offer any advice on this product in this vid as ive only seen mates with pedal torq's and win boosters in 76/79/200/hilux series and they love them. No, it doesnt give you more power, but they will take away a shit load of lag, eg, your foot used to go down 30% to achieve said response from engine, now it might be say 7%.... dont knock one until you have tried one i say.

@@danbaz6906 I’ll explain it this way if you have 100% of the throttle down on a launch you can’t make that any quicker it’s 100% on so in this test when Shauno took off the 2nd time it looked like 3 quarter throttle rather than the half or quarter throttle on the first test again this has nothing to do with the throttle response as the timer they use works on the time the car moves. So having a better start by taking off harder will 100% give you a better time down the other end.

Made a noticeable difference for me. For all your Jeep JK owners there in Australia, install a Dodge Viper throttle body. It's technically the same as their 5.9 trucks, at 70mm. Fuel economy on the highway is better, throttle response overall is better. Other than a cold air intake to match the 70mm opening, it is a 10 minute bolt in upgrade.

I actually keep it in Eco 5 so I get nice cruisy ride out of it like a big S-Class Mercedes and don't use so much fuel. When I feel like putting the pedal down, I only crank it to Ultimate 5 because U9 is too powerful and I'll chirp front Pirelli's. Throttle lag is a real thing. I wondered why my RG Colorado always seemed to drive better when the cruise control was switched on and set to 100-109kph than just using the accelerator peddle. I fitted one of these controllers today and was very surprised with the results! I don't travel light as I usually am fully loaded with a rooftop tent with all the camping and recovery gear etc so it takes a bit to get moving. Now however, it drives like it's empty (I hate to think how it would go if it was empty) and it's great having that unleashed power when I need it!

@@jasonrowe3219 "That's quite significant, that... That's quite significa.. That's quite significant tha..." hahaha.. But yeah, that throttle is definitely getting pushed harder the second time around. I've got one on my '11 Challenger. Didn't make any different in the 0-100, but it's been amazing in E5 for offroad.

Buy a Landrover, throttle speed is adjusted to the selected terrain response level, eg sand throttle response is much higher than rock crawl

My dad drove my ute, it’s tuned for a shit load of torque and is touchy as hell even in eco on the throttle controller. And he never believed in the throttle controllers, thought they wouldn’t work. He already thought the Ute was peppy as and I told him to switch it to u9 and he spun the thing out. He was doing a u turn and eased on. But the car just spun and flicked him around the other way, I just looked at him and said. “Work now don’t they” he still tells that story ahhaha

Ah yes, I've been using a throttle controller for years, I think it's one of those old school ones called a "lead boot" or something.

Turning controller off is not the same as not having a controller in. With the controller fitted, your throttle adjusts to less throttle input due to the controller that boosts the signal. So, after having the controller in for a couple of weeks will result in your throttle to become used to less pedal movement. To bring it back to its original state, a pedal reset needs to be done and its therefore not fare to compare with the controller on vs off. Rather just leave it in auto mode for daily drive and select high or low setting when you really need it.

Is that throttle controller really turned off or is it really working in the background effecting the throttle therefore giving a false reading on there “no throttle controller” test?

If your in soft sand and you think, I need SPEED! And you plant it and the car goes you probably didn't need to plant it. People always go way to fast in the sand and it wrecks the tracks. Just go slow, if you need speed what you really need is less tyre pressure. Pro tip. Low range is smother power and more torque and better for your gearbox, just use it even you don't think you need it, unless the sand is like a rock on the wet beach, but then you don't really need 4x4. Also keep stock tyres for better gear ratio and skinny tyres work just as well on the sand.

Hi Shon, I have a question: Do you recommend to tune the vehicle even if the vehicle is 2008 prado? Because i have heard that it can damage the turbo and the gear. What are your thoughts about this?

Hi, very informative, advanced, and complete information regarding the throttle controller, thank you, but I have a question I hope the admin or 4WD 24-7 can answer regarding safety issue, My question is what if the throttle controller's device suddenly fails? or the little wire cut? Do we still have the control of gas pedal? or it will be back to normal mode? Thank you for hoping 4WD 24-7 can enlighten us. thank you again!
