Hi Guys,
So this is part 2 of the 2 part video, where i taken my 2019 Ford Ranger that i've recently fitted with an EVC iDrive and put it on the dyno..
Our main goal here is to see if there is any difference what so ever, in black and white, From dyno'ing the vehicle
Also, we connected a Throttle Position sensor to see where exactly is the throttle position in each different driving modes! We also did a standard dyno run to see what the new 2.0l single turbo is pushing out.
Let me know what you guys think of the result..

I found this device finds the lower gears when exhilarating from a roll on the U mode. Sure it doesn't give more power, but being able to drop gears when going certain speeds makes it feel faster. For instance my car from a roll 40kmph use to ride out the third gear before switching to 4th. Now it goes down to second therefore a quicker response which results in going faster. Sure it's not giving more kws or hp, but by manipulating the transmission it keeps the power almost always on the sweet spot. No matter at what speed. And the higher you go on the U mode, the more responsive the transmission gets. I found the U2 mode gives me the best performance without the jerky feel. I hope this explained some of the questions regarding power output people are looking for. I definitely agree this is a better option for off-roading and towing. But for those chasing better performance of their transmission the potential is definitely there. You've just got to find the sweet spot for your driving style. Peace ✌️

Right.... My Jeep loves pulling off in second... It really doesn't want to take down the first if I roll through a stop sign or something like that I don't roll it through stock signs but that's just the example.... If I roll through a yield and get back on the throttle it never goes to first...

I have a similar throttle controller and use the Economy mode to dull down the throttle at low speeds, such as driving around town, but at higher throttle input it still reaches 100% throttle, you just change the curve shape, and thus how far you need to press the throttle to get a set power out. I love it

Thanks for making this video! It would have been good to see the throttle values when putting the foot flat to the floor without the block under throttle. You only showed the dyno graphs but not the throttle values. As was mentioned in this video, the throttle controller makes no changes to the actual engine, so how can it actually make more power/torque earlier in the rev range if in both instances (standard throttle vs. iDrive) the throttle value is at 100%. In theory either standard must not bring the throttle value to 100%, or with iDrive it somehow goes above 100% and allows the throttle body to open wider. Are you able to explain this at all please? The part where you show the partial throttle makes sense and is what the iDrive is all about, but the full throttle bit with “more power” is confusing.
@KenjiLo1
@KenjiLo1 5 жыл бұрын
Right so, iDrive will never allow pass the 100% parameter. As you will need to tune the ECU. It simply fools the pedal, where it can be 80% open at say 10% throttle position. At full throttle, 100% will just still be 100% it will never give more. It won’t get more power! It’s just a more on demand of the existing power that you have. It’s easier to explain in person and show you.

Electric motors provide 100% of available torque at 0 RPM. Having faster throttle response is going to make the Tesla, other electrics and ANY vehicle not made with Alien Technology precisely 0 Zeptoseconds faster 0-60. Google Zeptosecond. Then save your money. If you like faster throttle response and getting dirty looks from the wife for all the neck snapping at streetlights, have at it! It will, when working as designed greatly reduce drive by wire lag. It will not improve time-to speed performance. If you believe it does, come on by, I have a device that enables your car to run on Bat Urine. Think how much you'll save. Enough to blow your wad on this silly device.

I don't have a IDRIVE but the main purpose is throttle response. Fly by wire has a lag in response when you press the paddle. You can test this by bouncing your foot on the accelerator. You find your car won't rev higher to match your paddle. The IDRIVE removes the paddle lag so the engine response to movement of the paddle which removes the lag. The vehicle has the same power but response quicker to the paddle. Your test fail to test the response time of the paddle which is the the point of the IDRIVE.

If you have a remap, this will still work. Remap increases the boost and fueling and what not. Not the sensitivity of your throttle. With this, you can literally make your peddle less sensitive, and so helps you with slippery conditions. So in other words, remap and a peddle booster are 2 different things. They do 2 different functions.

Actually it doesn't do the same thing. It would work that way with old school cars. With new cars a computer determines how fast throttle body will allow air in. How fast you put your foot on the floor only has so much of an effect. These things allow the throttle to open a little quicker and allow air in faster. So you don't get any more power, but when you initially put your foot on the floor you get the power a little quicker because more air gets in a little faster. I had one. It makes the accelerator anywhere between a little and a lot more sensitive, depending on how you have it set

@@KenjiLo1 really.. basically you need to understand this .. this device do nothing els you lying at ur self . Examples with this device if you are running 10% of throttle this only trickling the ECU doing actual 50% .. without this device is more accurate.. with this on only you fooling at ur self by doing 50%percent but actual is 100% if this really works so what will happen if you are doing 100% throttle with or without if you feel any deference pls light me up .. you need simple thing to understand this buy OBD2 read the throttle position and see the result by ur self .. and apologies for my writing hope and get the msg

This device isn’t suppose to give you more power. It’s purely there to smooth out the throttle. Especially in slippery conditions. When you don’t want the surge in power. You place it in Eco mode. This helped me a lot in slippery conditions. By simply saying 20% = 70% is over simplifying this device.

I bought one the other week. It does more than just that. It also increases the speed of acceleration. If you plant your foot down with no throttle controller, the signal will slowly increase from 0-100% over 6 seconds (example). With a throttle controller, the 0-100% signal occurs in less.time - 3 seconds (example). So it gets ride of that 'doughy' feeling. It makes the car more responsive

Wouldn't getting your ecu re mapped do all the above more power, throttle response, and economy?

Was looking for something that would fix the throttle timing from the time I give it gas to the time it goes is like almost 2 or 3 sec. Delay🤕so was looking for good but reasonable price to fix

@@matthew197735 this would be it. These kind of devices improve on throttle response. Takes the lag away.
