Worst kept secret ...briere and jones will hire their buddy and ex teamate Craig Berube this summer! No thanks to Torts but would love to see Lindy Ruff, Gerald Gallant , Bruce Boudreau Claude Jullien, Craig Berube( if he doesnt go to philly) or Joel Quenville replace Daycare Donnie. We definitely need a coach that holds players accountable! Aka a veteran coach! Speaking of coaches Jay Mckee's Brantford Bulldogs are on the verge of being knocked out in a 1st round upset , so he might be available this oct to be the Sabres D coach . He could teach the boys to block shots and take the body in front of the net.

Tortorella definately can rub people the wrong way. he is a dying bread of out school coaches. he is one of the best coaches of the 2000’s. his teams get better except the debacle in Vancouver. wins a cup in Tampa as a first time coach.had a good run with NYR. helped put hockey on the map in Columbus. pulled one of the greatest playoff upsets ever with sweeping Tampa, and than giving Confetence champion Bruins an extremely difficult series. Tortorella holds his teams to high standard, as he holds himself. you hear a lot of players loved playing for Tortorella. Tortorella will be 66 next sseason. you have to figure that Tortorella is only going to coach a few more years. and he knows that some network is going tp pay him big bucks to be an expert studio analyst.

Phily’s goalie has a lot of work to do. He’s vastly too aggressive for such size. Players will take advantage of his busy, aggressive style. The reason UPL has gotten good is because his game has become still.

Cause I'm a bit bored. Part of the reason why the message gets lost in the locker room so much with coaches that screams at their athletes is that eventually the athletes will start viewing you as unreasonable or an idiot. Either consciously or subconsciously. Having a coach go on live TV to say how only one member of the team showed up to play that night? That's not a good thing we should want for the Sabres. Assuming Don is too soft(We see what he's like in the media as he keeps himself composed even when he's visibly pissed off in front of the media) then Torts is just an absolute overcorrection going the opposite way possibly causing worse results. A calm coach will be able to explain the issues and what needs to be worked on. An angry coach will get mad and come off as unreasonable. Assuming what we need is to be more firm in the locker room, then we want a coach that is not going to just blow up on athletes all the time but one that can be firm while keeping a calm and level head. All I have to say.

@@lloydmarshalljr1951 Bit of a long winded explanation to say Torts would probably be worse for the team in the overall then Don as that mutual level of respect the coaches have from the athletes and vice versa is genuinely important. If they do decide replace Don, replace him with a former Sabres Captain/Coach like the Assistant Coach on the NYR. If they bring back Lindy, set him as the Assistant coach and interim head coach as the back up as a 1 year contract type deal. But don't bring back Torts.

The Islanders and the Flyers are only in the playoff race is because of those stupid OT Loses! The Sabres have the same or MORE Wins as anyone in this push for the last playoff spot! The Sabres should not be this close to being eliminated from contention having these stats compared to the other teams! The extra point for an OT Loss needs to go, and GMKA needs to make this point VERY clear at the next GM meeting! Teams with less regulation losses should NOT miss the playoffs! Thats just dumb!!

They'd add the shootout component after the 2004/05 lockout, which means NO GAME ends in a tie. If you want to be angry with someone for guaranteeing a point for making it past the regulation time, blame Gary Buttman(sic).

So it’s not just because it’s kept the Sabres from breaking their drought last season and possibly this one. We need a system. We need a guy that will bring coaches underneath them. There needs to be accountability and a clear message of play. Battle’s on the board shouldn’t be optional. You should be able to turn on a random Sabres game, at any point in the game and see them battling and blocking shots and just working hard. I like Gallant, because he proved he can do that, in Vegas, Florida… Torts is good, but he’s too chaotic. I wouldn’t be mad at bringing Lindy back… Regardless. YES! This team is absolutely craving that style of coach. Granato is just not it. His mentality is all wrong. Think of the way he speaks. We kind of play the same way….
