For which customer? Had I known then what I know now, I could have saved a ton of coin and time with a proper DSP. I made a lot of assumptions based on the experts saying 'This is good enough'.... I started my build having zero experience and lots of trust. Now I have lots of experience and no trust.

It is NOT necessary to use a DSP . A simple Flash to your stock radio and removing the factory tune will get you a long way. If you are using a aftermarket radio you are already ahead of the game. A DSP Will definitely help you to achieve the perfect sound for your taste. It is nothing more and nothing less than a fancy equalizer with a lot of extra features. Great video.

A DSP allows the tuning of each speaker individually as there are manufacturing variances within speakers. It costs more to install a DSP because the installer then has to understand the software that each brand of DSP has and the software is proprietary. The Rockford Fosgate DSR1 is about as simple a DSP to use. There is DEFINITELY an improvement of audio performance if the speakers are tuned properly with the DSP. But it will cost you. I am guessing that adding a DSP will add an additional $500 to the install at a minimum and likely much more.

We use a dsp when there is a reason to, for sure the Rockford dsr1 was one of the reasons we developed a way not to use a dsp on most 4 speaker rider bikes, it lowers the output of the radio signal too low for most amplifiers to give full potential and adds a lot of induced noise by lowering the signal so much 1.5v, by not using the dsp we are sending over 6 volts of input into the amplifier and using the built in crossovers we are getting a great result.

I have a constant ringing in my ears do to my service in the army. I have difficulty hearing any sound in the high frequency range. Doesn’t the DSP control the limits of the frequency range for each individual speaker?

@@dieseldan5189 so does an eq if you replaced the radio with the Soundstream hdhu14+ or hdhu 14si, with your specific hearing damage turning the high range down through eq either in a dsp, we recommend the hertz s8 dsp, or through a better radio eq may be absolutely necessary. We try to not use overly bright speakers. I have never understood using horn loaded compression drivers that have way too bright of tweeters then having to use 2 amplifiers and a dsp just to turn the tweeters down. I would always prefer to let you, the customer, listen to our speaker options and pick the right tone instead of using the wrong speaker and trying to use a dsp to fix the poor speaker choice

Because I am a loyal repeat customer, my local HD dealer made me great deal on a sound stream hdhu14+ radio for my 2020 Police. It currently has a Sony 7000 that I installed 3 years ago with the Metra kit. The Sony works great with the built in Amp but unfortunately, the Sony is not weatherproof which prevents me from taking cross country trips. So I will install the Hdhu+ this weekend. I am guessing I will probably need an Amp but I will test it first. I have a 2023 RG Anniversary on order with delivery expected in August. I will keep the head unit but I will go with a 4 speaker and amp. I will have the dealer flash the radio to a 6 speaker Boom audio profile when I take delivery. I will likely make an appointment with you to get the work done. I could do the install myself but my hearing damage may prevent me from getting the results I want.

Hey jay. I know you’re probably tired of hearing from me lol but I noticed in the newer bike installs you do you always talk about or install a DSP. I have a 07 SG with sinister sound pods in the fairing and I ordered the 6x9 precision power speakers from you and I have the moto 720 4 channel amplifier. Will I need/benefit from a DSP? I also have a aquatic AV head unit the non color display one. Thanks brother

Don’t over complicate your install, 99 percent of the time we do not add a dsp, we only set our gains and hpf filters correctly on the amp

Are those custom dynamic lower fairing led lights on the headlight side of his lowers? Do you guys sale that kit he has on his? Looks great with the LED running/signal lights and I bet it gives you a little more vision ahead at night!

Where do you get that wiring harness and will it work for a 2021 road glide limited

We build the harness and yes it will work with 2021 models without boom 2, 2021 does require a special programmer which we have for local installs to flash the radio

How can you dispute using a DSP without using one in comparison when doing this test?

I can show that it is not necessary after flashing the radio by showing the eq curve on screen as we did, can you add one? If you want one you can. I’m showing that you can have a great sounding Harley without the complexity and cost of adding a dsp!

Do know if the 2015 roadglide ultra cvos need to be flashed I've seen where some say they are set to the correct flash due to the boom audio amp.

what if you have a newer aftermarket pioneer with all the controls for hertz etc

What exactly is your question? You can add the hertz amp and speakers to a pioneer radio. The amplifier does have built in high pass and low pass filters and your radio should have at least a 3 band eq. No need for any radio flash if it has been replaced and time alignment is not needed on a Harley since speakers are equally distanced from you

Which boom 2 amp do you select for that eq curve? There are numerous selections with 2 amps. 6 speaker? 8 speaker?

I have a 2015 street glide CVO with the boom audio system. It has 2 amps and 2 speakers in the fairing and 2 in the lids. Would I still have to flash my radio to change out the amp and speakers or is it ready to go since it’s got the 2 amp system?

Yes, you can flash a Gt radio to the same eq settings as a gts radio

I already have a aftermarket system on my bike. So it's been flashed for 4 speaker system. But I'm not sure if the shop does it like you do. That does both running and not running. Would it hurt anything to do it like you do?

@@diffman75 of course if they only turned on the rear outputs you will not have a good eq curve and will be more likely to blow your speakers from the distorted bass output

You need to go to an independent Harley mechanic that has a techno research programmer, most Harley dealers are now locked out of audio programming if the data lines in the bike does not see a boom amp. Flash the radio to the standard boom 6 speaker 2 amp flash, do not flash to boom stage 2
