I Put the Legand Revos on my road glide special. The 13 inch shocks have so much more travel than stock. I went from slamming my teeth on every hole in the road to a plush ride. It handles the curves like a dream. I kick myself for not getting them installed when I purchased the bike. Great video - keep up the great work!

Tall...I see you finally followed my advice and got some Ohlins. I got mine 6yrs ago from Joey at Sturgis. Before buying them I quickly realized how bad the HD shocks and suspension sucked!!!! Prior to buying the Ohlins I tried Progressive, Legends and Terry Cable first all while at the rally. Then I tried the Ohlins. Hands down blew the competitors away. Joey is awesome I say hi to him each time I'm at a rally. No doubt the shocks TOTALLY transform the ride!!!! Love em'.

I went with Legend Revo A 13" and the ride was great. What id did not like was having to remove bags and adjust every time the wife wanted to go for a ride or I loaded the bike up to travel. Then remove bags and readjust preload when I returned home . I ended up removing them and went with JNR air ride with the ride height repeater. It works better for my application. It sets the bikes suspension at the same height no matter if I'm 1 up 2 up loaded down to travel or just commute. Ride is still better than stock but not as good as a premium coil over shock. I may go with the Wilburs set up though it self adjusts for load. enjoy your channel keep up the good work.

One of the first things I did when I bought my SG this year was to replace the rear shocks with 13" Legends. I did the same when I had my 15 RG, but with it I installed 13" Ohlins. Both are comparable to each other and far better than the stock junk.

I tried the Fox 13 inch rear shocks and then swapped them out for the 13 inch Legend Revo. The ride was about the same for both - with both a huge improvement over stock. The springs on the Fox were maxed out on preload for my weight and luggage. The Legends are set in the middle of the preload range, so I have plenty of adjustability. The Legends did take 500 miles to break in and smooth out. The more I rode the better they got. The next problem, was that all the road bumps that I could no longer feel in the rear, still came through the handlebars from the now obviously lacking front suspension - plus the stupid brake dive in the front. Talking to my dealer, they had more positive comments from the Fox front cartridges vs the Legend, so I went with Fox cartridges up front. The bike is so much more stable, comfortable, and sporty. I have much more ground clearance now, and the bike can comfortablly be pushed way beyond its previous limits.

Like you I went with the 13in shocks and I can feel the difference in handling, lays into corners so much more securely. I’ll probably do the front suspension with Legends this winter. I had the Progressive suspension on the front of my 13 RG and like it a lot. No wobble at higher speeds and that hard dive the front end does with hard braking also went away. But I will probably do Legends this time to keep the suspension one make. Thanks for the great videos.

I went with the Legends Revo A 13”. The first thing I noticed was from the factory it was sent on #3 of 6 settings. So I was trying to get a Cadillac type ride. I tried the #2 setting. Now understand the Harley dealership is less than 5 miles from my house, but the day I got the shocks I went through 2 tanks of gas, for long distance riders the difference is night and day. Then COVID hit and everything shut down. Can’t wait for my next long distance ride. I can stay in the saddle indefinitely now. The only thing holding me up is running out of gas or road. If you’re on the fence about swapping out the rear suspension on a Harley I’ll tell you it should be your first mod.

I fitted legend aero A air shocks on my 2012 and the difference was immediately apparent. The bike glides over bumps and it no longer tail sits and with the back being raised the steering is quickened and it handles so much better. My wife and I went for a 160 mile ride and she said she could have done twice that with no worries .The change of shocks is the single biggest improvement that I have made to the bike . The only problem is that it has highlighted just how bad the front forks are I will be buying the legend cartridges for the front .

I added JRI 13” shocks to my street glide. The company is here in NC and have great history in building shocks. They are absolutely incredible. It was a toss up between these shocks, Ohlins, and Legends. I received feedback from other riders who changed their shocks. Spoke with folks who’ve had experience with different ones. They’re all good choices but my JRI set up is great. Love the adjustability.
@charlesblount68584 жыл бұрын
Love the shocks on the my 19 CVO Limited. Have bottomed out only once on a very rough road. You guys really need to learn why you only need to adjust the one shock to get needed damping out of both. Don't waste your money on aftermarket shocks unless you are slamming curves the Harley Davidson''s weren't made for in the first place. Ride on!
@greenfiregarden2042 жыл бұрын
💯 The high side works in unison with the low side. They are not built the same because they both serve different purposes. Realistically Öhlins, Legends, Progressive are made for performance baggers and for the track. They became popularized when Harley entered the race scene. Nothing wrong with the stock shocks if you dial them in properly. They are IMO much better than the older air shocks in previous years. That's my 2¢.

Awesome Vid, Tall. It lets all of the viewers with issues of say " Hey, that might explain the weird dog-legging my bikes been doing. ... and weird tire wear...." And as for HD.... it might stop them from putting a ported- shock system on their rides. For us Metric riders, Where we adjust the shock tension with a wrench..... What Tall is saying is equivalent to .... You have the right rear shock pre-load at " Notch 4, and the Left shock pre-load at 2.......OK... So the diff is because of the pressure drop along the line from the right-shock with the adjuster( say set firm) and the distance the oil has to go to "Catch up" on the pre load of the left shock, Call that "recovery time".....hence the weirdness and by the time the shocks are equal , the rough area is a mile behind the bike.....What HD should do . is have throttle capability for Each Rear Shock.... then no issues or complaints..... Stay Safe and Ride On.

It's probably why the Dyna's went towards being Soft -Tails. lol. Didn't Stop Yamaha. All my bikes still have the twin rear shocks . So be it.... the C-spec and R-spec ,HD , Are resevoired separately .... Maybe do the same??? Ciao.

In Knoxville off western ave my man.. I would have went with 15” shocks in rear (need chain conversion too since it shortens the belt length in the extended range of the swing arm) and +2” tubes on front forks (of course with ohlins drop in cartridges... or full inverted assembly with custom trees). You must have a streetglide special or Low because all the other touring bikes take 13” shocks from the factory. But for sure changing the rake angle by lifting the back helps in these mountains on these cornors. Ride safe

I blew out a stock rear shock hitting a dead deer while do 80mph (scary). I ended up putting a set of RS-1 MONOSHOCKS on the bike. It did raise the rear 1", but man, the ride is amazingly different. Stock works if you don't take long rides but definitely change out to 13" if you ride long distances and for performance. 12” shocks are standard on all touring model Harley’s except the Road King. Road King comes with 13” shocks. Harley does this to allow more riders with shorter inseam to flat foot the two most popular models. If you are a tall rider say 5’-10” or taller the 13” shock of good quality is a must. I went with Fox on the rear of my Road King and I love them. Ohlins, Legends, Russ Wernimont are three other great choices. I’m doing the front forks this winter and I’m thinking legends. Fox does make a kit but, I think Legends or Ohlins would be a better choice for the front.

If you love corners, you have to upgrade, like Tall said. That HD wallow can be a killer otherwise! Here down under we don't have anywhere near the same quality of roads (a FAR smaller population so less taxes to fix them). So for us good suspension is a must have. On my 09 Stripped Ultra, I will be buying a locally made brand called Ikons. The company is run by a brother who KNOWS what he's talking about, and just like with Tall, you get a lot of questions to help in what the company will suggest. Are they as good as Ohlins? As soon as we get out of COVD19 lockdown and back on the road I will let you know. Thanks as always Tall; you talk sense!
