And in a limited space! You're an amazing creative cook Meg and now I want some fritters! Isn't wonderful to have so many fresh ingredients...the garden is hard work but so worth it. I froze the last of our peaches today for winter smoothies...and started 6 more qts of sour dill pickles fermenting. I love this time of year when there is such abundance...it feels so luxurious.

Buggy is the cutest... I've always noticed her bare feet running outdoors without a care in the world. Remember her sitting in a knee deep potato hole you had dug up excitedly pulling potoes. If there is a nature child... that is her... & she is a darling. What a fun childhood you are giving her💕💕

Ben I watch you with Buggie and it reminds me of my Dad. I am 68 yrs young and I remember being out with my Dad ( raised on a farm) . I will always remember the size of his fingers and trying to hold two and couldn't. She will remember her time with you always. Bless you and Meg for making this work for ya'll. Love to you all.

I liked the Dad joke Meg made, "some people dig that". The beds look great. Got beets and leeks. Then you and Meg planted beets. Wow, leek, corn, and chicken fritters! Those look amazing. Thanks for this Hollars.

A hint for popping lightly rooted plugs out of plug trays is to use a crochet hook. You can push it in next to the plant then pull the whole plug out, or you can push it up through the bottom hole to dislodge the plug. We literally transplanted hundreds of thousands of plugs in our greenhouses and it was a cheap and easy aide for tender plugs. You should teach the boys to run the camera. It would be fun to see a video from each one and have them film what they find interesting. Corbin seems very playful and energetic, Brett seems to be the comedian, Jack seems to be a mechanical thinker and Tyler seems a bit camera shy. And when Buggy gets a little bigger, she will take over the show lol!

Ben, I’d like to say congratulations on doing some awesome soil building. I remember y’all’s first garden, grown completely in red clay dirt. But… you didn’t give up and it’s just amazing to see that beautiful soil when you flip a bed. If it’s possible could you put a link to the amendments you’ve been using. They are doing an amazing job building up the dirt to beautiful soil. I’d like to get some to use next spring. Health has put hopes of a fall garden on hold for another year…. Unless I have volunteers offer to help, which would be great. Blessings from Mississippi

I have learned something. I never would have thought of starting beets indoors. This is interesting. And it reminds me of the first time I planted beets, many years ago. They were up out of the ground a couple of inches. Daddy was mowing the lawn and our first child was probably about 4. I said, "I'm going inside for a minute and when I come out, I'm going to have son help me pull weeds." When I came back those nasty little redish weeds that were all in a row, were all pulled!

Your collective description of Buggy (why oh why did you ever give her the name Liliana Faith?😁) made me apoplectic with giggling. I would say that the live squirrel in her teeth really put the icing on that cake, but squirrel icing sounds atrocious!) And. I realized. I have a fall garden to plant and this vlog is causing "empty bed guilt". Time to git 'er done. Thanks for the shove out the door! Nothin' but love. Fertilizer hack from David the good is a pickle barrel with a lid that mosquitos can't penetrate, LOTS of weeds, and water to cover said weeds, and something to weigh them down and keep them under the water. I used a nursery stock pot. Let them rot and decompose anaerobically for 3 weeks then take one part of Dave's fetid swamp water to two parts plain water and VOILA! Instant free fertilizer. The smell dissipates in about a day, but is initially "impressive".

Meg, you remind me of how my mom always said my Mamaw (dad's mother) was. She said Mamaw would go to the kitchen and cook a feast with what looked like nothing to start with, and her meal was delicious! Sadly I never knew that Mamaw as she passed when I was about Buggie's age, but she must have been an awesome cook like you are!! In my opinion, you are a great cook as you never use a cookbook. A good cook never looks at a recipe, she knows what goes into a dish/ meal to make it delicious from experience!! Hope your fall beets gives you a big crop! I never had luck with beets. My father-in-law said it was because I didn't plant them on dirt mounded up like potato hill. He said they needed to be hilled up like potatoes to produce a good crop. I wonder if anyone does that with success?
