I need to tell you that after the death of my daughter I started to suffer with servere depression, I could not even get out of bed for a very long time. Discovering your channel two years ago, your posts have given me the motivation to get outside and revamp my garden. I receive so much joy from seeing things grow and now I am able to smile and really mean it. Laura and Aaron you do not know what you have done for me, saved my life almost. Also the plants you have introduced to me are such a lovely surprise, Hostas Heucheras and tiarellas are not common plants grown here in Melbourne Australia. I love them so much. Thank you Laura, I will always be so grateful to you for helping me get my life back.

Laura, when you say that you didn’t go to school for garden design you’re ignoring the years of “schooling” that you got growing up and working at your parents garden center. And then you built an incredibly successful KZbin channel with over a million subscribers. You’re probably more experienced in practical landscape garden design than most working landscape designers. Don’t sell yourself short. You always give credit to Aaron for handling the technical side of your channel, but everything else? That’s all you, my friend.

I understand what she means, though, as far as needing to see something as it's developing in order to know what she wants to do next. I am the same. I'm not nearly nearly as experienced as Laura, but I've been asked a couple of times to give garden design advice to people, and nope. I *could* do it. But not well and not enjoying it. So, I don't see it as her selling herself short, more just knowing what she likes doing and is good at.

I was also not allowed to have a Nintendo or any game console growing up. I hated it at the time because "all my friends have one!" but I look back on it now and I realize it was such a blessing from my parents. I spent my childhood days running around our farm and learning all about plants and animals from my dad (hearing the memories he had from growing up on the same farm.) I know now I was so lucky and I have wanted a small farm of my own since I was 14. Any child who gets to experience life in the country is truly blessed. There is nothing else like it in the world!

My daughter said to me today that she doesn't know how I grew up without the internet. I was an 80's child and replied that we used our imagination and had so much fun outside. So sad that teens and young adults spend most of their time watching other people live their lives on the internet. Not you guys though. This is educational and entertainment all in one. I know that you don’t really need garden design assistance, but Julia on Y Garden has one of the best series on garden design that I have seen. Even though I’ve gardened for decades, her logic and the steps in her process inspired me to rethink my current property and make some fun changes. I still garden like you do, putting plants wherever I’m inspired to put them, but now, have a better overall design for the whole property.

Hi I’m not sure if this will get to you or not but Ms. Carlene Thompson , you can go to your local grocery store, (in the bakery department) and ask if they have any buckets that they would like to get rid of. Most of the time the bulk frosting they get comes in 5 gallon buckets, they are food grade and free. You can spray paint them or cover the outside with fabric. Just make sure you drill some holes in the bottom like any other bucket.

Auger tip. To prevent expense of multiple big augers, I use a 4”auger and drill 3 holes next to each other in a circle. Those big drills are pricey so I save twice. Once for the auger and again on the industrial size drill. Wish I’d had one of these years ago. They are a dream come true.

Oh my word! You're discussion about doing landscape design just spoke to me. Like you, I do it at an "amateur" level for my husband's landscaping company and while I actually enjoy it, I definitely know the frustration of designing something and then the customer (who had no idea what they wanted in the first place) wants to change things all around or requests things that you're sure are going to look a mess. Obviously I love watching your garden evolve and get so much knowledge and inspiration from you, but I also love how relatable you are. Thank you for always being so authentic. I love you guys.

Russell reminds me of our puppy. She thrives on attention and will just quietly sneak into our lap. She even tiptoes down the hallway to our children's bedrooms ,so as not to get caught because she knows she is not allowed into the bedrooms. 😂😂Who says pets can't have personality?😄

First gotta love Russell and this was the best Russell ever. He made me laugh. Second I loved the reminiscing about growing up. I’m old enough to be your mother and that’s how I grew up..outside making my own fun...sad that most people younger than you can’t imagine the joy of that kind of childhood. Oh and yes, I’ve been laid flat by running into an electric fence....man did that hurt! Lastly, I worked at our local Master Gardener plant sale today and met a women wearing a Garden Answer t-shirt and Vanns just like yours. I immediately made a new friend. I need to get my t-shirt ordered ASAP! You are such an inspiration...not to mention the fuel to my plant buying and quest for a beautiful garden. Thank you. ♥️🪴🪴🪴🪴.

I have dicovered the older my husband and I get the less TV we watch and the more KZbin videos are watched in order to learn things we have always wanted to do. I feel TV while it can be funny and entertaining it's also toxic. So thankful for your gardening channel and so much fun to hear how it all began by wanting to edit a video. Lol!

Totally agree with Aaron's view that you guys are the positive side of the Internet!!! What a great way of describing it. If there were only videos like yours available, the Internet would be a truly wonderful and magical place. I love every minute that I can spend with you in your garden through KZbin so I consider it a blessing. Loving watching all the changes going on at the moment but soooooo glad it's not in my front garden. Recently in these comments and videos I've noticed alot of talk about gardens having different personalities, traits, maturity levels, and qualities. Well, I was wondering if anyone else views gardens and landscapes as kind of a "being" if you will. Having a Persona. Idk it just feels like a very special connection with nature that "Garden answer" (and it's community) are the embodiment of. Not trying to sell you any unnecessary things that don't work, or being looped into political topics and drama on the news. It's such a special thing that's going on here and it's awesome. I think most viewers will agree that watching these videos isn't just "watching a video" garden answer just has something special that gets people outside and encourages the best in people. I can't not talk about garden answer to people at least 3 times a day.

Hi Laura, I have to say that I did go to school for horticulture but learned everything I know now because of hands on knowledge and experience. I don't want to deter anyone from going to college, it was fun but not the same as learning through trial and error, whatever works for you, it's your space and that's what I do in my space. I don't have a set plan, it's always evolving. It's fun and is an exceptionally beautiful experience. I get it, I hate being asked to plan other people's gardens as well. I get asked a lot but I feel like it becomes my responsibility to make it look good all the time. (Give Russell some love, I think he wanted you to cradle him in your arms.) My cat's are love bugs like he is.

LOVE hearing your nostalgic music choices... Laura, love how musical your family was, and a wonderful musical range. LOL - Feety jammies and Dan Fogelberg. Aaron's choice - Todd Rundgren is so fun "70s", and Chicago was amazing back then... both wrote wonderful lyrics. Thanks to you both for the big smiles on this video. You're the best.
