It’s hard to explain this but even at 62 with 34 year old son, you STILL have these same thoughts/ problems . That sounds old when you are you girls age, but believe me it doesn’t feel it when you get here. Great video ! On baby step 2 ( again ) 😩 but very close to being out now. We started late but are trying to get as far as we can . My comment isn’t meant to be negative ( in case it sounds that way) I just wanted to say that there are new things at my age that make you feel like younger Moms feel, but there is still hope and watching these kinds of videos really helps me feel better ❤

My husband drives a used 2015 CRV that we paid cash for last year. We’ve been debt free since 2021 and when he left his job that provided him a (brand new) truck, we need a vehicle and didn’t want to go back to a car note. He would much rather be driving around in a truck again, but we know this is temporary and he can buy a truck again once we can save up for it and he’s more settled in his job (it’s 100% commission).

Thank you for this! It is so encouraging to hear that Dawn started the debt-free journey more than once and failed. We are the same and about to reset and start again. I've felt like such a failure and so hopeless. This gives me a new energy to start again and finish! I know that I know that being debt-free is right and righteous and I'm so excited to hit that finish line and begin to live!

Rachel, since I’ve found your channel, you have helped me understand finances in a way that I never did before. I am 76, retired, empty nested single mom for 50 years having also raised a special needs grandchild. Then there was Dawn. She has guided me through so much of life’s challenges and the art and satisfaction of minimalism. I am working on becoming debt free. Another favorite KZbinr is Kate Kaden. I am so grateful for the inspiration I get from KZbin, I wish it was around years ago. I am a Home Economist, I grasp all the things that are presented and validate so many of the things I know but needed to be reinforced in my life. Thank you for all that you do.

Also, take negative people out. That's another way of decluttering. If you can't remove them, ex father in law, just limit your time and conversations (phone) etc. You really start to feel better and have time to declutter or make better other things in your life... And you don't have their negativity in your life (or effecting your priorities).

Love you both! This was an excellent conversation. I have been broke to the point of gathering up spare change for parking fees to attend one of my kid’s events to having a year’s worth of living expenses in the bank. I had terrible FOMO while raising my kids and always felt behind. I was thrifty though and shopped at thrift stores and was the queen of finding all the free events in our city. As my kids grew older the FOMO subsided since they had their own interests and it wasn’t just up to me to pick “the best” activities for them. They tell me now they had the best childhood ever so that warms my heart. I am now decluttering my empty nest along the lines of Swedish Death Cleaning. I do not want to leave my kids with a ton of random stuff to dig through. I am finding the decluttering quite freeing. I enjoy having less inventory to manage. My things should serve me not preoccupy my time and thoughts.

Hearing Dawn say it took 3 times to seriously pursue the baby steps to get debt free makes me feel more normal in the debt free mindset, because I started the baby steps in 2008 or 2009. I had started on baby step 3 then fell off the debt free wagon and didn't save the 3-6 months of expenses. Though I didn't get back into debt until the first year of the pandemic and so I am now at baby step 2 again. But my mind, my thought process, my heart is different now. And as Dave always says, you have to be sick and tired of being sick and tired. And I am sick and tired of not being able to do the upkeep or repairs around my house or go on vacation with my adult children because we didn't get to while they were young. So I am sick and tired of not being able to enjoy what God has blessed me with and being able to give like I used to. I am sick and tired of not having a firm goal and following a path to get to it. Thank you for continuing to encourage to make goals, make a plan, follow the plan and meet my goals once and for all. Not only will I be able to enjoy what God gives me but I will get to bless others and when the time comes retire with dignity. Possibly being the first to do so in my family as I see how my mom dad and siblings are with their money or lack of because of poor planning.

Congratulations ladies this was an awesome video!! So motivational and inspiring. How true what Dawn stated about unfollowing those IG and FB accounts that encourage us to buy buy buy!! I have unfollowed many great people who do nothing but put out what I call "infomercials". The constant showing of what we should buy and try. I know they make money from sponsors but some are over the top. How many supplements can a person take!! and how many vacuums can one buy LOL.....Rachel and Dawn you are a great team and I hope your put out more of these types of videos as they are truly great!! Think for example, of all the hair products out there. I have managed to pare it down to just ONE product: a natural shampoo bar which I order from an eco friendly website. That is IT! And my hair is all the better for it. People often remark on how nice my hair looks. Can you also believe I have not been to a hairdresser for 5 years! Since lockdowns I started trimming my own hair and it seems to work and it saves me a ton of money!

I see people that have garage sales.. It is all the stuff they have bought at Walmart or where ever for the last year.Obviously they did not need that stuff. A good idea is to every time I think I need or want something, like say a 25 dollar whatever, just put it in a savings account. I spent it to myself. Sounds trite but it works.

I drive a vehicle provided to me by work with gas, insurance, and maintenance fully covered by them, the downfall is that it is stamped with their logo. I am surprised that my girls don't seem to mind. I was so worried when I decided to make that my work AND personal vehicle and sold off my primary vehicle. Kids are a lot more resilient then we think.

Almost everyone, including the media, is anticipating a market catastrophe, and as a result, many are turning a blind eye to the opportunities in the market. I recently began investing in stocks and cryptocurrency, and it was the best choice I've ever made. If you genuinely want to be financially secure, disregard everything the media is suggesting. The market offers a lot of chances. Maximize your use of it.
