My mind is _too_ curious though. It's _constantly_ wandering down a billion different roads at all hours and it makes it really difficult to concentrate or sleep. Because of that I never get any work done, because I'm always distracted and tired. So I don't see how my "wandering mind" could be beneficial in any way because it's currently serving more as a hindrance than anything else.

catpower Try to do something relaxing like going on walks, or meditating (practicing to silence the chatter in your brain). Suppressing something also causes you to do it more, so if you need to think, allow yourself to drift off into thought before you have to concentrate again (breaks are useful when studying). Hope this helps!

catpower why do you feel bad about this? those of us with incredibly active minds are very unique and special. we're the music makers, the dreamers of the dreams, the builders, the reinventors, the climbers of mountains and explorers of distant vistas, the seekers, the finders, the swimmers of strange waters, the lost who don't want to be found, the spiritual drifters, the painters and patchers, the crafters and menders, the sailors of seas and the reachers for stars, the daydreamers and talkers, the crooked-path walkers, the lovers and criers, the sparkers of fires, and everything in between fears and desires. some people view a flat tire as a hindrance to their goals....others of us see it as a golden opportunity to get out and walk....your deep imagination is NOT an illness, a negative condition, or something that needs "fixing"...quite the opposite. it needs tending, not MENDING!! =) i adore my fellow dreamers and seekers, and i never....ever....EVER judge or question them, or myself, for being who we are. sure, it means we sometimes daydream a little more than we should...but that's just part of the beauty and wonder of what we are....the makers of everything fantastic and light. feel free to message if you want more encouragement....i love encouraging and supporting the truly special and wonderful people in this life. a mere journey is never enough for us...for we aim to sail beyond the sunset =) "If you are a dreamer, come in; If you are a dreamer, a wisher, a liar, A hoper, a pray-er, a magic-bean-buyer, If you're a pretender, come sit by my fire-- For we have some flax-golden tales to spin. Who cares...
@Glathnar10 жыл бұрын
I care. Because there's a big difference between an adjective used as a title, and a verb. If a concept is not acurately conveyed, then the purpose of language (concise and descriptive comunication) has not been achieved. If the common rules of grammatical engagement are not followed, then speaking is moot, and we may as well be doing this; paragraph orange purple mother night Constantinople lemongrass a how and junkyard with is. Because who care about grammar, right? How could you not know what that means? Writing words is not the same thing as communicating, and "Jiji brushie" succeeded in the former, but not the latter.

It felt like it was such a big thought that my head could scarcely hold it. Nothing like it has happened since.

Perid0tStar That thought was nothing. You can get that feeling reading what I have go say. Try to imagine this: An atom compared to marble (a small ball), is like the marble compared to the Moon. Can you imagine how small an atom is? I bet you can't. Here's another way of representing how small atoms and molecules really are. Did you know, that there are more molecules of water in a single drop, that there are (tree) leaves on the whole Earth. There are more atoms in your body, that there are stars in the whole observable Universe.

My teachers scolded me constantly when I was little and always wanted to hold me back a year because I didn't seem like I was keeping up by mid-term evaluations, then like clock-work I'd pass the year with flying colors. I enjoyed procrastinating and daydreaming about all the possibilities for what I can make next (art). My point is not all children learn the same, and I've come to realize I learn better in a flexible and free thinking environment. I wish they tested children to see what learning environment they should be placed in, to help them succeed.

I get my ideas for creative writing either trying to fall asleep or procrastinating from getting up. I embraced it years ago and recently discovered that my ideas drastically change the moment I turn over or re-position, like lying on my stomach makes think of the story from the character's point of view, and lying on my side helps me with character interaction and dialogue. And for some reason, laying on my back makes me unable to get into the story at all. Either way, I still have to sit to write it all down.

I don't think I have too much of a wandering mind, I'm just barely connected to reality to the point my mind seems to subconsciously believe that I am not a person, but a greater power who is merely a vessel to connect my mind from this reality to my other ones. An example is that I could have a friend having an absolute break down, I'd probably start thinking that I should literally knock some sense into them (which probably makes me sound like a bad friend, but their behaviour has gotten to the point that it's irrational and someone needs to teach them life), and I'll start thinking about the way Erina's eyes looked in the moonlight when she was going to jump out that window. Serious moment, and here am thinking about a character from a fanfiction. My friend however, is the best example of a wandering mind ever. But I think she has attention problems with have led her to be amazingly life smart in spite of her insanity, but a failure in academics because she has no ability to focus in class because she'll be thinking about that dream she had where we were on a train to Sydney and ended up fighting that giant troll and ended up in different dimensions, and trying to wonder when that happened because its yet to connect that it was a dream.

The story touched my heart because my cousin (he's like a brother to me, we live really close) had to get these really painful shots for his dyslexia every week and so his parents got a buzzer and gave him any icecream he wanted afterwards whenever the nurse came over for his shot. I love him :)

Hypnagogia is truly amazing. As a writer, I've got some of my best ideas in that state...as well as some of my best ideas through procrastination :P
@bbpoltergeists10 жыл бұрын
***** It's that early stage of sleep between deeper sleep and waking consciousness where you're right about to fall asleep. You know you're in this state if you start dreaming a little but are still in touch somewhat with reality. Have you ever put your head down in class and just when you're about to fall asleep all of a sudden you just twitched randomly? Those are called "hypnagogic jerks" and that's when you know you're in that stage. Hope this helps!
@Pixiz10110 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately I've never actually lucid dreamt but it is possible to from the hypnagogia state. Usually when I'm in that state, I just get a rush of different pictures and random scenes that enter my head and play one after another like a film real. It's pretty cool the way they morph from one thought to another without me forcing it :)
@katefrost850010 жыл бұрын
I have a wondering mind for sure. People often dismiss it as having a short attention span, being a poor listener, or even being ditzy. But before I fall asleep at night I will get a lot of ideas for my writing or suddenly understand something thought-provoking that's been on my mind.
