i'm not neccessarily just saying this as a hypotesis, cause there was a time i also this type of anxiety having trouble getting words or jokes out cause i would spend to much time thinking bout it and then the time would pass or not being sure if it was actually funny, but eventually you just learn what are acceptable jokes to make, or things to say, once you get an idea of what are ok things to say, for that you need to be socially aware, then eventually you will start getting used to what to say in conversations and what jokes to make, and then boom you will blurt it out without even thinking bout it, preferebly you dont get to that point, but if that aliviates the burden of overthinking then maybe is better that way. I can just tell you at the time when i still had problems i didn't really self diagnosis with anything i just assumed i didn't have enough experience, which is why at a certain point i just stop myself thinking past the making of the joke, and just saying it, even if it would pheraps interrupt the convo or out of place, sometimes it went shit sometimes it went good, it didn't always go well but eventually via practice ur brain learns, if have no concept of a joke at all, or you dont know what to say you can always what some podcast (of normal conversations on some topics) and get an idea, get reference of things or you can try talking like them, then once you get the basics down you personal interest and humor will eventually find its way up. this is why good comedians are rarity, cause they are able to step out of line from basic npc jokes, its risky but they can still make people laugh, part of the journey to overcoming anxiety is accepting the risk in trying things

I’ve been to the doctor multiple times for it and she even requested I see a therapist (I said no bc y’know social anxiety is a pain) but I’ve never been officially diagnosed. I’m pretty sure it’s self diagnosable if you’re constantly worrying for no reason. We all feel like we’re only making it up (I do sometimes as well) but that’s honestly just the anxiety itself.

Bacon Cat, In life there are only 2 problems--mind and the body. To feel better reduce overthinking. Your breathing is closely related to the brain [mind] and gives good relief from stress-anxiety. To relax sit on a chair or lie down, neck straight, eyes closed and observe the sensations of your incoming--outgoing breath at the entrance of the nostrils for 5-10-15 minutes or more. Don’t fight your thoughts. With daily practice the mind will relax. No deep breathing needed. Do the practice without any expectations when taking a walk, at work, when reading, before sleep etc. Like me, make this a lifetime daily habit to have a better life. Reduce negative social media and avoid constipation as it affects the mind instantly. Best wishes--Counsellor.

Good thing about anxiety: results usually ends up way better since you already went through all worst possible situations you can be in For example: you get anxiety and starts to panic before the presentation, but when you are really presenting you would most likely to focus on the presentation and get less anxiety. Turns out 90% of the time I was just overthinking and those situations never actually happen The worst thing for me is that when I knew I am going to present but seeing everyone before me did like 10times better than me but the teacher is still pointing out problems, I was legit crying but also holding my tears back to make me not being more embarrassed

I'm in the same situation. Because of this for years i ignore my anxiety, i thougth that it wasnt real, that im just a dramatic person. Now i'm 23 and recently i start to work in my condition whit my terapist and the way is long, but not imposible. Told my doctor got meds, took them as needed like prescribed for about a week. No therapy was suggested, after a week I feel great. I haven’t needed the meds because I feel better. I also made some lifestyle changes, like working out and switching jobs. I’m going to meet with some new friends today and I’m going to take my meds just in case🧚🏾♀️🥰 I usually say no to social gatherings but I’m going to try harder. Plus it’s a church event for ladies so it seems right😃

We the people who are suffering from anxiety are often told that the best solution is to go see a therapist, but only we know how hard it is to let people know about our condition and also we are afraid that if we come out to people they are gonna judge and react in a weird way and not gonna send us to therapist or anything and probably gonna advice that we r just overthinker and we should sleep more, now we will be left in worse condition than we were already in.

i hate anxiety. it makes me feel like im constantly being criticized and im always worrying so much about every little stupid thing for example what to say or how to say it, if i look stupid or weird etc. so to avoid embarrassment i keep myself quiet and avoid situations.. when i leave the house i feel everyone is watching me..mind races...etc.. then i will get the chest tightness, rapid breathing,fast heartbeat... and it makes me want to escape. but if cant i often use my phone to look like distracted. or just hold something really tight, to make myself cope

I can’t describe how many friendships I’ve lost or never got to have because of my anxiety/social anxiety. Many of my friends now told me they were scared to talk to me or start a conversation with me because I seemed “unapproachable” because I am quiet. When really, I’m just scared to start a conversation. I’ve had people tell me that I’m hard to read because I’m so quiet. That they don’t know if I’m mean, or just shy and nice. They often go with the mean side, and don’t talk to me or try to make friendship. Social anxiety is horrible. It makes you think that you can’t make friends because of you. But really, it’s because you’re quiet and people thing of that as unapproachable or that you don’t want to be bothered. When really, the minute you start talking to me, you’ll see the biggest smile. Social anxiety is no fun and makes you feel so alone. I hope anyone who suffers from this to feel better soon, and that you’re never alone.

Please do read this ❤️ To the people here who have social anxiety, never stop interacting with people and having positive thoughts about yourself. It's actually a phase or an aftermath and your parents are true about this. What's the worst gonna happen when meet someone, you might stutter, you might feel high (eyes dilating, tunnel hearing) but after all that you will make a connection with that person. After all, this thoughts or beliefs are in that small brain in the head. Anxiety is basically fear and fear causes your heart to pump blood faster and that means you are healthy and you have a full functioning body. So do not make this small things a big part of your life, there are many things to achieve and beautiful people to meet. You are courageous and strong, I believe in you.

Before to go a good Dr. U need to be mentally prepared for this meditation and yoga will help u A lot.. Yeah i have passed through all the trauma and at that time I did not know about all these thing and I keep it like a secret with myself which make my condition more worse and I fallen in bad habits.. But now I am better and decided to go to a psychiatrist after 5 - 6 months when I will be in my college.. Bcz I know my family will not understand my suitation and make me more worried more anxious so presently only meditation and healthy food is only a way to keep myself calm

I have only today decided I must have had PTSD since I was abused at the age of 5. This was blocked out of my mind until I enroled in a counselling course when I was 60 and it all started coming back. 10 years on and I had counselling/therapy myself last year and am managing to work through things. Please don't wait. Get some help so you can enjoy your life. We only get one life, don't waste it

If you see someone there that you know, then that mean they understand, and they may not bring it up to you afterwards because it would be awkward for them too. It's unlikely you'll see someone you know there. My psychiatrists have told me that they will keep everything so private that they won't even wave at me in public in case other people know who she is. :)

My first time having an anxiety attack it was a week ago, I felt my upper body week, hardly breathe, no chest pain at all, left arm felt tingly and really dizzy. Luckily I work at a hospital I got an EKG and chest X-rays, everything came out really fine and the doctor told me it was an anxiety attack. So my problem is that I keep thinking of diseases such as diabetes, cancer, and heart attacks. So that is what trigger my anxiety.

Sometimes when you know it's real, it makes things easier to work on. There's such a stigma that goes along with mental illness. I used to think I was just pathetic, that I should "suck it up" and I should feel better. When a doctor tells you that you have something real and offers a solution, there's a huge wave of relief. It's just the beginning, but it's a step towards being less miserable. If things are hard now, what do you have to lose by trying to see if there's help? I was afraid to know the anxiety was real until the moment I did.

My anxiety is so bad that if I walk in in front of a group of kids that I hear them laughing I automatically think it's about me and I get scared my heart starts pumping out of my chest Edit: For all the people commenting I feel your pain what I do is i take a deep breathe I think of all the people a stuff animals or food sometimes😂 I also say well this is just a dream it will be over soon it kinda help control my panic attacks im slowly over coming my fears hope you can do the same bye❤
