Basically, popcorn is made from kernels with the air and water created steam, allowing them to unfold into popcorn. If you place them in a metal tin like seen here, you don’t allow steam to be created due to there being no space in the small space. When you open the container in a bag, steam is allowed to be created due to an increase in volume so the kernels immediately pop into popcorn allowing for this device to work❤

@@bad71hd I make popcorn in a pot, with oil. A couple times I have either put too much or used too heavy of a lid and all it does is kind of crush the popcorn as it is popping. I'm wondering the same as you, because I don't think all those nice round kernels would come out of that small vessel. I was expecting more "damage." Still, I've never seen this before, so I guess it could go either way.

@pizzlerot2730
@pizzlerot2730 Жыл бұрын
@@maddielovelee it's not so much the presence or absence of oxygen. What actually makes the corn pop is water turning into steam inside of the kernel, with the hard shell holding in a little bit of pressure until a threshold is reached and the kernel pops. When under pressure in the vessel here, though, the water remains in a liquid state at a much higher temperature; but when the pressure is suddenly released and drops back down to ~1 atmosphere, the superheated water inside of the kernel flash-vaporizes, causing the kernels to violently pop and also slightly caramelizing the starches present. The result is a fluffier popcorn than typical popping as well as a more complex flavor profile. It's actually just reproducing the normal processes that happen inside of the dried kernel but to a much greater extent, and it's quite brilliant (and super cool to watch lol) 👍

Mythbusters did a segment on this. Super cool. They used a huge kettle that was very violent and produced a bathtub of popcorn at a time.

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.” God loved us so much that, he sent his only son Christ to die and rise again so that we can be forgiven of our sins. Christ is real, and he’s the only way to heaven. If you die without Christ, you will go to hell, as Christ is the only one who can save you from the hellfire. Before I knew Christ, I was stuck in my sins. I always had sinful thoughts, but when I came to him, he changed me, and if he can change me, then he can change you. Christ is knocking at the door of your heart, and if you let him in, he will feast with you, and you with him. Come to Christ before it’s too late, judgement is coming

I wonder how far the popcorn would go if it had been launched into the air at a 45° angle? Also, did anyone notice that the popcorn is darker than regular American air popped popcorn is? I’m thinking that delaying the popping by pressure has the side effect of getting the popcorn hotter so that it self-caramelizes. Imagine breeding an ultra high-sugar popping corn for this purpose and a special pressure cooking electronic, automatic machine to make the most exquisite internally caramelized popcorn.

My gosh! This brings back childhood memories! I remember my brother and I used to wait at the street side for it! But back in the day, they didn’t use the device (about 10~15 times bigger than the one shown in the video) to make popcorns. It was used to pop rice puffs! Freshly popped rice puffs were then put in a huge tray mixing with malt sugar or warm caramel to be cutting into small rice puffs squares, kind of like Rice Krispies but tasted a whole lot more delicious!!! 😊

It's not fake. The timing is edited. I have 2 of those things but they hold about 1/2 gallon of kernels. You can pop pretty much anything with them. I've made puffed wheat, corn, and brown rice with mine. The popcorn comes out more round just like puffed wheat. Tastes about the same. I have a few videos of it on my KZbin channel I made a few years ago.

Yes we did that all the time at Chinese New Years time. We brought the rice to the street stand, they popped the rice for a charge. We then used the popped rice to make rice cake with melted sugar.
