i use my vacuum sealer to make custom bags, just make sure to experiment a bit first because the ziploc and other brands are much thinner than proper vacuum seal bags, go a few seconds at a time and open it up early, (don’t let it go full seal cycle) wait a few seconds to let it cool before removing or you will tear your seal.

Thanks for making me aware of Pink Stuff! Not sure how I missed it (I'm 74, and I thought I had used most cleaners, polishes, waxes, etc.). It's a perfect gift for my daughter-in-law. We have a running joke that I get her pink gifts for birthday, Christmas, etc. So far, pink drill, jigsaw puzzle, Swiss army knife, and now, Stuff! Very cool technique on the baggies, but doesn't it destroy the hardening of the knife blade? Not that it's a big deal, a $1 kitchen knife is fairly expendable. Nice narration on the video, good job all around!

I love this trick! Question, I have an electric stove top that has the circle heat plate things on top, how would I heat up the knife? Is there an alternative way? Thanks! Love your videos!!! ❤❤❤
@ReadyUpGo5 ай бұрын
I’ll take a stab at this question since it’s not too old and no one else has. I would think that if you lay a dull table knife on the heat circle in a way that heats the tip for about an inch back you would have it plenty hot enough to melt bags. You may need to press the tip to the surface with a something heavy like a small cast iron pan . I would experiment with heat settings and use the same knife in the future. Beware of the handle getting hot and do a practice run to determine what speed works best across the bag to result in a good seal for a given tip temperature. Parchment paper over and under the bag prevents melted plastic where not wanted. Best to you.
@Harley--Quinn5 ай бұрын
@ReadyUpGo Thanks, I'll give that a try, though I don't have a cast iron pan, too heavy to lift. I tried a candle lighter as well, didn't work out so well.

Tip from a blacksmith. Another good reason to use an old knife...heating the steel up to the temperature indicated by the color softens (anneals) the steel. Dont expect this portion of the to hold an edge. The blade can be re-hardened but it is a procedure not recommended for the average homemaker. Nice idea for making your own bags.

@dlodge49662 жыл бұрын
I think the straight edge would be easier to do it with. I don’t see why you couldn’t do it with electric you would just lay the blade on burner. Small hole use a lighter. You have to put the part to be sealed between something to keep melting whole thing. You then take the lighter and quickly and lightly put the flame to it. Sealed won’t be as perfect or pretty but won’t be wasted either.
