My source tells me that the B3 is the only keyboard instrument. Now, a Hammond can be made to sound like a harpsichord with the drawbars. I don't know for sure you may be right.. This song and Little Willy by Sweet were my fave songs.

Nope. The studio that this was recorded in had a B3, to be sure, but it also had a rather large pipe organ in Studio A, and this is what Michaels used on this song. A B3 can Never make that kind of a sound. . .

this was/is terrific but an outlier at the time, IMO. sure all eras had good toe-tapper pop like this, but too much of the '70's pop was a snooze - a push back from late 60's/early 70's perhaps. My frame of reference THEN was Top 40 radio, L.A. I got East and was introduced to Little Feat and others that were terrific. Sad that real radio is now only on "college radio" (which is admirably staffed by older community members, all gratis, as students tend to graduate).

Ummmm... Deb- you might want to look up some events from the 70s, such as returning soldiers with Agent Orange who got spit on, inflation, the recession, gas shortage, and the Ayatollah to name a few. Olympic bombing, ebola and others are equally bleak. This is just actual history; I'm not even going to address your taste in music bc music is a personal thing. I will say that I have found a ton of great music from others in the comments. A lot of very talented musicians don't get radio play except on college or underground radio stations. It's out there. Hell, even KZbin has good suggestions sometimes. I really hate white washing the past because every era has its own serious crap that people have to deal with.

@ stephen dwyer ... Yep...those ol' Hammond organs that they were using in the sixties n' seventies made a great sound. Nothing like them since: and they are still sought after, highly prized, and coveted. You find 'em now in the strangest places sometimes....but grab 'em when you can....'cause there's nothing quite like them on the open market these days. A little "note" of humor while we are on the subject: As an ol' hippie friend of mine has said to me several times (he was a backstage manager for Bill Graham (original Fillmore Auditiorium music hall: San Francisco....circa 1965....one of the first large/open venues of the rock era) >>>> "".....Yeah...Those Hammonds had a great sound....but they were a SON-OF-A-BITCH to move around!!! ....." When I listen to this, it takes me away in a different space and reminds me that music like this is very powerful. I believe you have to have a deep appreciation of the world of its little things to love a song like this. Makes me glad to like this kind of music.

A Very Good Song ! In my opinion I think the 70s, was a much better time to have lived in.

Amen, I had a good job and a new 240Z. No aids, not freeway jams, no divided country, no shooters, just a lot of happy people. I try to live in the 70's. I have all antiques, a baby boomer wife and a 1969 Caddy Convertable. I listen to mainly 70's songs and have no tv. You know what I mean.

56bluegold Absolutely great! Nothin' like bein' in that 'sweet spot ' right between 'hippies ', and all that entails, and still in 'bells' and 'platforms ' with the accompanying 'perks' but, not yet in that John Travolta era. Do you know what I mean?

Heard this song in 1971 while playing in Fresno. Went back to L.A and years later went to his Killer Shrimp rest. in Marina Del Rey. Loved it. Then later, about 1988, there was a classified ad in Craigslist for a DA-88 that I needed for tracking to movies, etc. Went to the house and to my surprise, Lee answered the door. He was getting out of the home recording business. Almost bought his 24 channel mixer but I really didn't need it. Nice guy.

Man when that bottom end kicks in this thing is just pumpin'. The juxtaposition of that bass line with that incredible screamin' organ, and then the drums just perfectly punctuating everything. Wow, what a ride ~ Help, indeed ~ Maybe i'm beginning to understand just what Lee meant ~
