How you can say, Emerald? Chelsea test must include, in yours video, for the public, Otherwise may be only Green Beryl
@gems
@gems Жыл бұрын
The Chelsea test isn't diagnostic and doesn't work with all emeralds. Many real, natural emeralds will not show up red in the CCF. It is still a handy tool, particularly for quickly scanning stones in a parcel, but must be supported by other testing methods.

Wouldn’t this be an aquamarine?? It looks more like a blue beryl to me.. just with a lot more inclusions than I’m used to
@tedseb7726
@tedseb7726 Жыл бұрын
It’s unlikely to be aquamarine being that it is heavily included whereas aquamarine generally comes from the ground eye clean. The difference between gems despite being easily identifiable by color are not classified exclusively by color but instead the kind of inclusions formed that are responsible for the characteristics of the stone. Primarily the color amongst other things.

So not green beryl ? I thought there was a color intensity distinction between green beryl and true emeralds. I know emerald must have chromium or vanadium to make the green . I know it is fascinating that corundum is red from chromium but green in beryl.

Is there a light colored emerald? Very light emerald is actually classified as green beryl, while the emerald to the dark receives the prestigious title of emerald. The best emerald is that has a level of 75% tone, where 0% is a transparent stone and 100% will be opaque black. Why does my emerald look blue? If the hue is too yellowish or too bluish, the stone is not emerald, but a different variety of beryl, and its value drops accordingly. The intensity of the green in the finest emeralds might not be equaled by anything else in nature.

@gems
@gems Жыл бұрын
Lots of different opinions in the marketplace as to how bluish the green in emerald should be. But, emerald's color should be largely due to chromium or vanadium, whereas aquamarine's blue is due to iron. There are advanced ways to determine this. A simpler method is using a spectroscope, where emerald should show a characteristic pattern with absorption lines in the red portion of the spectrum and weak absorption in orange to yellow.
