Actually in France ( we’re crepes are from) they leave one side pale and put toppings in then they close the crepe and bake them golden.

@@maron2870 She isn't making jianbing, that appliance she's using to make the crepes are usually used to make jianbing at home easily and cleanly, without having to worry about evenness and messy batter spillage.

Lmao as a french person making crêpes is litterally the easiest thing you could do, from making the batter to cooking crêpes. Please don't feel the need to buy expensive gadgets, a normal pan works just fine.

I crepe rlly isn’t hard to make in a pan. Even tho this is more simple but all u have to do is add batter to a pan.

Not really. It is pretty hard to understand when to flip and how to flip. Anybody could add batter to a pan, but the rest of the process is the hard and the main part.

In concept it is but it’s fucking hard sometimes trying to get it perfect like how the device the lady does it. I think I’ve only got like a few that looked decent from a whole batch of crepes.

I have been making crepes with my mother since I was a kid, and when I saw this raw side it kinda hurt. (I was taught that both sides need to be cooked, so don't come after me for this 😂)

I don't get it, Are crapes russian pancakes with a different name? In case they are. You don't need to cook them on both side but if you do cook them on both sides they will have a better texture from my experience

It doesn’t look cooked. 😕 Flip it on a pan. Don’t buy weird gadgets, just take the ten minutes to learn a useful skill like using a pan and flipping stuff. Then you can apply it to other foods. :)

I mean, I would definitely prefer to do it in a pan. But if I have this, I would use it from time to time. I sometimes end up holding ice cubes after cooking because manually doing it always leave a burning sensation in my hands.

in my household we use nonstick flat pans and just cook both sides to be golden. u don't have to buy any special crepe makers

My French teacher in HS used this when we would have crepe parties. I thought it was the coolest thing. She was a great French teacher, s/o to Mrs. Mellus from LHS I can still speak French ❤️

the way the crepe maker works ensures the batter remains paper thin, you can see the bubbles totally poke through and pop ensuring its cooked through, and considering theyre so thin the other side would be solid enough to be cooked. if you were to use a skillet and liquid batter you would probably need to flip unless you were cooking them on a low heat for a ling time.

The trick is to put butter on the crepe while it's still hot so it can melt the butter, then sprinkle the sugar/cinnamon mixture on the melted butter and then the sugar will be half melted and still kinda crunchy. SO GOOD. Also, you can use granulated sugar or brown sugar.

Dosa and crepes are different :) Crepe batter is not fermented and is generally thinner than dosa batter

i used to work in a French crepe restaurant where we'd spin them on griddles ourselves. this is a cool idea! i just feel like it would take too long for the amount of crepes i typically want to make, those pans don't hold heat for very long.

This is basically a thinner version of pancakes what you can do is just take a non stick pan and use a less amount of batter and spread the batter into the pan and then add any topping you want.

I make crapes for my kids and the family every 2 weeks or so. It's a must in our culture. This is undercooked ND you can easily make it in a regular pan.

Crepes in a regular pan are very simple. Just put the batter in, swirl, and flip. Love crepes but don't need a special pan for them. Plus it does bother me that it's not cooked on both sides.

Lol my grandfather is Dutch so I've grown up calling them pannenkoeken. I didn't know what a "krayp" was until like fourth grade. Now that I take French class, hearing people mispronounce it hurts my ears. Another example is "crisont" which isn't as bad but still annoying.

I could never understand America's obsession with crepes. Where I'm from it's just known as a pancake or pannekoek (for those who might speak afrikaans) and what they call pancakes are known as flapjacks👀 Btw we dust our "crepes" with cinnamon and brown sugar and rolling them up is just a must. And if you're feeling fancy top it off with golden syrup!

Thats not a crêpe. They are much thinner,larger and folded to keep the content in. What you made there is what we call a pancake in Europe.

To anyone considering it, I wouldn't recommend buying the pan at all. Your batter bowl would have to be quite flat and constantly topped up to the brim to use it this way. At some point, you'd probably have to fish out a ladle to finish up all the batter. A normal flat pan would get the job done just as well

You don't need Nutella. I was in Paris once, and got a crepe from a street vendor with chocolate, it was NOT Nutella, it was more like dark chocolate spread. It was delicious and I've been searching for that taste ever since lol

Crepes are the easiest to make, a pan would do, no need for the fancy crepe maker. Also, they taste much better when cooked from both sides. Finally, rolled is the way to go, always 😂

Those are pancakes in where I am from... Honesty, this is the first thing I learned to coock and you shoud do this: After you bake it, spread the nutella over it (on one half of it), role it and there you go. It is very delichious. If someone wants, I will write the recepie in the comments of this comment, if that makes sence?

Us Indians we don't need a maker. We eat hand made Dosa at home which is similar to this creep or crep. It's really easy to make even without a maker

You can use a normal pan if you want to. Heat the pan on high, add a bit of batter (the batter should be thinner than a pancake batter) and move the pan around so the batter reaches the edge of the bottom of the pan. Put it back on the heat and cook the first side for one to two minutes, then flip the crepe and cook the other side for only one minute or less. Make sure the pan is lubricated so the crepe doesn’t stick, you can also use a nonstick skillet.

I love a more savory crepe. Like putting eggs, cheese, and a meat inside, roll it and cover in country gravy.... so good. My family loves them. One thing i am blessed my momma taught me, was making crepes. One of the absolute favorites for my oldest and pickiest child lol
