I picked up my first saddle last season. A cheap one but it has a lot of adjustability. This past spring I found a tree at home and practiced a bunch. That’s the best thing I could have done. It’s made a world of difference. Perfect your setup well before you head out to the woods. Great video guys !! Be safe and God bless!

I made my own saddle, so after trip one out and an all day sit. I went back to the drawing board. Made a new saddle and made hip pads that are removable. Kinda like using bike shorts the first few bike trips out. Then you get used to it and dump the hip pads. My bridge being home made is solid, not much moving it. Ok miss opportunity. Nice buck, wrong side of me, trying to take bow over top of bridge to get on other side, ( weak side ) recurve caught a limb above me, busted, he left nicely hahaha. Agreed, everything in the same pocket, put it all together the same way. You can do it all in the dark if it’s where it’s suppose to be. Agree, way more movement in the saddle. I try to hang near other brush to help block out some of the movement. Thanks for sharing the rope story, I always leave mine hanging. Might bring it up next time. I’ve also lost a tether, hike a mile back where I was found it. It fell out of my pouch, again back to the one before always out it back where it goes.

Nice idea on the hip pads. Always seems like when a buck comes in something isn’t right 😂. Depending on how thin your bow hoist is might be worth it….real bummer when it happened to me!

One key thing on #4 Movement that I think about is body position. You mentioned getting busted more for being away from the tree BUT look at your angle from feet to head. Now look at a tree branch and how the angle of that is too. To me being in a saddle looks as natural as a branch growing out from the bole of the tree.
@BaitsNBucks
@BaitsNBucks 2 ай бұрын
True story, for the most part they are not going to notice the big ugly branch unless it’s moving too much 🤣

So I do have one headache. I forget the name of it, but it's like a little green string with the tiny hooks. That's used.For getting your tether loose after you repel down. I have yet been able to keep it from getting a birds nest.It's practically useless to me. So what do ya use for getting your tether?Ing loose, what kind of string and how do you maintain it?Hold it

So.. neither of us actually use the rappel method to get down out of the tree. We use the sticks and lineman’s belt to get down. Wish we could give you some advice on getting your rope down but that’s not our forte!

@@BaitsNBucks Ahhh man..thats cool..ill just cuss it out and use it all knoted up like i did last year 😂. I do appreciate the response..lol Just ordered my new Lonestar saddle today. I had a method 2 but i messed up listening to the company's advice about if your size 36 or larger you should get the XL..and being my first time ever buying one, i just figured bigger would be better. So it was still comfortable but way too big..that thing be swallowing me if i didnt tie the panels together w rope lol@BaitsNBucks

I store my dynaGLIDE (what I think you’re talking about) as well as any rope or cordage in a figure 8. So it never really becomes a nest.

@@btite yep thats what its called 😂 couldn't remember..ive tried the figure 8 and it still got notted..so i mostly just tied my bow string to my tether an start yanking on my quick connect lol

Good video. I am wanting to get into this but am unsure of a good brand name. I have only seen one called tethrd workhorse system. About 800.00 and everyone is out of stock. Any advice?
@BaitsNBucks

@@michaelknowlton7269 there are a lot of good brands out there. Latitude outdoors and Tethrd are usually the bigger name brands. trophyline and XOP are a couple others. Latitude method 2 is what is featured in the video. Just getting started into saddle hunting I know latitude makes a couple of good options. Another thing is to look on different saddle groups on social media. People are always selling saddles to upgrade. I hope this helps!

I really appreciate the input and advice. Sorry so slow to reply. I have been in contact with numerous companies that you all have suggested and then go to you tube and investigate. Some are so cheesy and transparent. Nowadays ya have to watch their acting skills and try to figure if china has bought them out. I can imagine the feel good commercials and then get into a tree only to have it fail. While laying on the ground in agnoy, reading the tag. Made in China by terminator t-100.😄

Well I have an update. After many hours of searching and about going nutz over frustration, the choice became clear. Not to me so much but my beloved wife. She forced me to buy the tethrd ultralock bundle.😀 I just don't understand why she has to be so mean and forceful but I knuckled under and submitted to her wisdom 😂. Thanks for all of the help

Nice vid, and tips, Guys! Been using an Anderson tree sling since 1984, with and without a stand. Recently, purchased 2 new saddles, that I love! Check out JRB TREE CLIMBING, a system I've been practicing since first of this year. He has some adjustable bridge setups that are great! Along with all types of safe no slack rope climbing for all types of stands and saddle user's! Best to ya this fall, good shooting, have a great day, and thanks for sharing!

So hunting from a saddle has actually been around for a long time but over the past few years it’s made a huge comeback due to its versatility. You can haul in less weight into the woods while staying more mobile. It’s not that it’s any better than hunting a tree stand just different!
